Abstract

The development of mechanisms of increase efficiency of frequency-shift keying signals processing in telecommunications using algorithms of noise immunity channel coding in obstacle effect conditions is held in the article. The synthesis of the frequency-shift keying signal processing unit accounting intersymbol communication which is inherent for such signals with continuous phase is held. The conditions of the compromise implementation in the telecommunication information transmission channel with frequency shift keying and error correction coding for setting the optimal encoding rate in the range of the bandwidth of the information transmission system are explored. Linear cyclic codes Bose-Chaudhuri-Hocquenghem (BCH) are used for studying. By means of Matlab the article focuses on the definition of energetic benefit compared to uncoded system in case of equality of the bandwidth of the information transmission system with coding and without coding.

Abstract

The aim of this project is to investigate the performance of photovoltaic (PV) panel influence by wind speed in Kangar, Perlis, Malaysia. A low conversion energy efficiency of the PV panel is the major problem of a PV application system. The PV panel is absorbed solar irradiance minor converted into electrical energy, and the rest is converted into heat energy. Therefore, the heat energy generated by the PV panel is increased in its operating temperature. However, PV panel is necessary to operate them at the low operating temperatures to keep the PV panel electrical efficiency at an acceptable level. In this experiment, one unit of the PV panel was limited wind flow over its surface and the other one PV panel was operated in the normal condition. The operating temperature of the PV panel with wind speed is less than the PV panel without wind speed. This is due to wind flow over the surface of the PV panel can enhance heat extraction from the PV panel. Hence, PV panel with wind speed can generate a higher output power than that without wind speed. This improvement output performance of PV panel will have an important contribution to PV application systems.

Abstract

Electromagnetic radiations present in the environment has a profound effect on the growth of vegetable plant primarily grown under the high power transmission lines. The high electric field generated due to ultra high voltage causes the increase and reduction in the size of the plants. Numerous research have been carried out to investigate the effect of electric field on the plants. However, the knowledge in term of quantitative analysis on the effect of electric field on the growth of vegetables is not entirely understood. Thus, this paper presents a study conducted to investigate the effect of high voltage DC electric fields on the young vegetables growth namely ‘Choy Sam’ and bean sprout. The experimental setup was designed which composed of two parallel plate electrodes. This research was focused on the percentage of germination and growing rate of young vegetables. The growth of the young vegetables during exposure was calculated by using statistical methods. The analysis of the results showed that the electric fields and the electric fields treated water have influenced the germination rate and height of stems of both young vegetables causing the increase in stem height.

Abstract

This paper gives a high performance sigma delta Analog to Digital Converter (ADC) applied in computer audio decoder chip. In this design, a 3rd-order single-loop CIFF topology is chosen to achieve the high performance ADC. Its signal bandwidth is 20KHz, sampling frequency is 10.24MHz and oversampling ratio is 256. Local feedback coefficient is used to reduce quantization noise. The non-linear model of modulator is given and the stability is analyzed. It is got that when quantizer gain is bigger than 0.322 the system is stable. According to simulation, Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) is 123.1dB and Effective Number of Bits (ENOB) is 20.15bits. When input level is bigger than -3dBFs, the modulator is overload and becomes unstable. Then the integrator, quantizer and feed forward summation in ADC circuit are designed.  Then the ADC is implemented in 0.6um CMOS process, and the test result shows that its performance is 99.28dB. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i11.3498

Abstract

A kind of Nonlinear Robust Control (NRC) approach based on integrity for multivariable systems is presented. It uses model estimator which provides the approximate model information to compensate the non-modeled dynamics, system uncertainties, and external disturbances of a system. Firstly, the existence of NRC with integrity is examined. Then, stable regions of each NRC’s parameters are calculated, and some parameters are obtained by placing suitable closed-loop poles, for meeting the design specifications of the whole control system. The proposed method is applied to two illustrative examples from literature. Results demonstrate that NRC is feasible and robust for complicated multivariable systems. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i5.4926

Abstract

Halal is the term used for permissible food according to Islamic dietary law. Indicators such as Halal logo have been used to facilitate Muslims in identifying Halal food. In Malaysia, the Department of Islamic Development (JAKIM) has introduced a standard Halal logo for locally manufactured products and currently recognizes 67 Islamic bodies in 41 countries around the world as certification bodies for products imported into Malaysia. Therefore, a more practical way is required to assist Muslims in recognizing various forms of Halal logos on food packaging. A neural network (NN) approach is proposed to recognize authentic and recognized Halal logo on imported products. A dataset of available and recognized Halal logo images worldwide will be created for this purpose. The dataset will be used to train and test the performance of the learning algorithm to recognize logo of recognized foreign bodies by JAKIM. The approach is expected to complement current facilities for verification using Short Messaging Services (SMS) and web portal. The approach is assumed to be more efficient and accurate for Halal logo verification which eventually could win the trust of Halal product consumers and support the Halal industry in Malaysia.

Abstract

Since the rise of WWW, information available online is growing rapidly. One of the example is Indonesian online news. Therefore, automatic text classification became very important task for information filtering. One of the major issue in text classification is its high dimensionality of feature space. Most of the features are irrelevant, noisy, and redundant, which may decline the accuracy of the system. Hence, feature selection is needed. Maximal Marginal Relevance for Feature Selection (MMR-FS) has been proven to be a good feature selection for text with many redundant features, but it has high computational complexity. In this paper, we propose a two-phased feature selection method. In the first phase, to lower the complexity of MMR-FS we utilize Information Gain first to reduce features. This reduced feature will be selected using MMR-FS in the second phase. The experiment result showed that our new method can reach the best accuracy by 86%. This new method could lower the complexity of MMR-FS but still retain its accuracy.

Abstract

A challenging task for the medical science is to achieve the accurate diagnosis of diseases prior to its treatment. A pattern classifier is used for solving complex and non-separable computing problems in different fields like biochemical analysis, image processing and chemical analysis etc .The accuracy for thyroid diagnosis system may be improved by considering few additional attributes like heredity ,age, anti-bodies etc.  In this paper, a thyroid disease prediction system is developed using multilayer perceptron (MLP). The proposed system uses 7–11 attributes of individuals to classify them in normal, hyperthyroid and hypothyroid classes. The proposed model uses gradient descent backpropogation algorithm for training the multilayer perceptron using dataset of 120 subjects. The thyroid prediction system promises excellent overall accuracy of ~100% for 11 attributes. However, the system results in a lower accuracy of 66.7% using 11 attributes and 70% using 7 attributes with 30 subjects.

Abstract

The binary tree decomposition allows for obtaining a large number of algorithms that can be used to calculate the fast Fourier transform. This paper analyzes the differences among these algorithms in terms of switching activity, which is related to the power consumption of the circuit, and size of the coefficient memories, which is related to the area of the circuit.Experimental results show the most efficient algorithms in term of area and power consumption. Furthermore, the paper shows the importance of a proper algorithm selection, since efficient algorithms can lead to savings of upto 45% in terms of the coefficient memory and even greater than 50% in terms of switching activity with respect to other less efficient ones.
