Abstract

One of the successes in the learning process can be seen from the learning outcomes of students. One of the factors that support this is external factors. External factors are factors that come from outside the learner, such as model variations. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is an influence of model variations in chemistry learning on chemistry learning outcomes in Lhokseumawe City. This research used a quantitative approach, the type of research was ex post facto, and the research design was regression. The population in this study was all students who were in Grade XI Science Senior High School, while the sampling technique in this study was cluster sampling, the sample taken was several students at Senior high schoolsenior high school. Questionnaire was used for data collection instruments. The questionnaire was created based on a Likert scale with 4 answers already available. Data testing using a non-parametric hypothesis test, namely an SPSS-assisted spearman rank correlation test. Based on the hypothesis test, a significant value model variation is obtained from 0.028 < 0.05. It can be concluded that there was a significant influence between the variations of model in chemistry learning on the results of learning chemistry.

Abstract

Information was obtained based on the writer's interviews with the principal at SD Negeri   1 Rawalo elementary school. During the pandemic, students' interest in learning at SD Negeri 1 Rawaloelementary school was relatively low, especially for grade IV students. Especially for Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Citizenship Education and Indonesian Language. Student interest is low during the pandemic because the learning media is less attractive. The principal wants engagingengaging learning media in the form of comics, such as on Instagram that is easily accessible while studying at home. This media is applied to increase student interest in learning during a pandemic, which must be by the characteristics of the material and learning objectives. Based on this background, the writer was inspired to make a digital comic as a learning medium for elementary school students in grade IV at SD Negeri 1 Rawaloelementary schoolschoolelementary school. The goal is the creation of comic learning media at SD Negeri 1 Rawaloelementary school. The system development method consists of three stages. The pre-production stage, the production stage, and the post-production stage.  The pre-production stage, at this stage is a process that includes determining ideas, themes and preparing storyboards. Storyboards are made with two-dimensional images of learning materials. At the production stage, comic character drawings are designed ,given backgrounds and coloring for characters using CorelDraw software. Then at the post production stage, the comic editing process begins using Adobe Photoshop software, starting from setting color balancing, giving shading, merging with comic text, after which the comics are exported and distributed on Instagram. In this research the evaluation of satisfaction learning media was carried out through a questionnaire and the questionnaire was calculated. The results of testing the comic learning media concluded that as many as 79.06%,  of and included in the category agree in the application of digital comics as a learning medium for grade IV at SD Negeri 1 Rawaloelementary school. And the post-production stage. The results of testing the comic learning media concluded that as many as 79.06%, of and included in the category agree with the application of digital comics as a learning medium for grade IV at SD Negeri 1 RawaloElementary school. Abstract

Owing to legislative restrictions, Malaysia cannot provide education for refugee children. Instead, the state invites numerous parties, including NGOs, to construct alternative refugee schools. Because education for refugees is an alternative, the goal is directed at practical skills to help refugees work and integrate with Malaysian society or the following country for future resettlement. All of Malaysia's alternative schools for refugees place a strong emphasis on English language acquisition. Even with free education, refugee children struggle to learn English as a Second Language. Psychological phenomena, such as language anxiety, trigger obstacles in learning English. However, learning about language anxiety in the context of alternative education in Malaysia has rarely been studied. Using the mixed-method methodology (MMR) brings about post-positivism and interpretivism. This study had two goals: (1) bridging research gaps on anxiety in learning English as a second language from the viewpoint of alternative school actors and students in refugee communities, and (2) providing solutions for alternative education for refugee communities in Malaysia to understand and address foreign language anxiety. Our study focuses on refugee students from three alternative schools in Klang Valley: the United Learning Center (ULC), Save School Malaysia, and Refugee Academy. The quantitative technique used 92 students to complete the English Language Classroom Anxiety Scale (ELCAS), derived from the Foreign Language Classroom Scale (FLCAS). In addition, we interviewed two persons and one teacher from each school for the qualitative approach. For data analysis, we used SPSS 19 for a quantitative and interpretive approach to the qualitative data. Qualitative results indicate that refugee children from three Klang Valley alternative schools experienced medium foreign language learning anxiety. Most refugee children were anxious about English courses, regardless of gender or stream group, emphasizing the necessity for educators and other stakeholders to understand refugee children's anxiety levels and take action with extensive knowledge of anxiety and compassion. Counselors must also work with teachers to create interventions to assist refugee children in handling their anxiety while studying English. Finally, instructors must use fascinating teaching approaches to minimize refugee children's anxiety, motivate them with empathy and compassion, and avoid overcorrection.

Abstract

Currently the teaching materials used by teachers do not pay attention to the condition of students and their environment, because in general teachers still use conventional teaching materials as a guide in learning. This makes teachers very dependent on conventional teaching materials. This study aims to determine the quality of E-book teaching materials with a scientific inquiry approach in strengthening scientific literacy for elementary school students. This type of research is research and development (Research and Development) using the development model developed by Borg and Gall, and only taken 6 out of 10 overall stages. The subjects in this study were fourth grade elementary school students. The data collection instrument used in this study was a Likert scale questionnaire with qualitative descriptive and quantitative descriptive data analysis techniques. The results of expert validation research show that ebook teaching materials with a scientific inquiry approach can be said to be very feasible by experts according to the indicators of media feasibility, language feasibility, material feasibility. At the small-scale trial stage, the teaching materials developed also received a very good response from teachers and students. Thus the development of ebook teaching materials is expected to be an alternative learning so that concepts in science material can be conveyed properly and can strengthen scientific literacy in fourth grade elementary school students.
