Abstract

Border management is seen as less than optimal and integrated, especially on the Indonesia-Malaysia border. There are border areas that are still unfinished, starting from Sebatik, Nunukan, Sanggau, and Entikong. Nine points need to be resolved to strengthen the legitimacy of the borders of each country. The difficulty is that Malaysia and Indonesia have very close borders. The research question raised in this study is how to regulate legal and political policies in determining borders according to international law and managing the Indonesia-Malaysia land border area. The theory used in this research is the concept of borders and international law. This study uses a qualitative method and comprehensively describes the Indonesia-Malaysia border conflict resolution. The findings obtained from the study are that Indonesia, as a sizeable sovereign country, must continue to strive to resolve border conflicts so as not to disrupt relations between the two countries.

Abstract

Women have employed the various channels of communication that covers broadcasting, newspapers, television, radio, internet for creating awareness, to express opinions, to educate the general public and enlighten women themselves on their rights and privileges. The current state of the media as against what existed in the pre-colonial and colonial era has triggered participation of women in the development of the sector. While there are bourgeoning literatures on women generally, their role in education, home, economy, governance, agriculture, food security, child bearing and rearing, a narrower study focuses on the role of women in the development of mass media from a historical perspective, thus creating a gap in literature. To this end, this study delves into a historical appraisal of women and mass media development in the 21st century. The paper reviews existing debates on women and mass media development and goes further to assess their contributions to one another.

Abstract

Human displacement has been a recurring factor in international affairs. This, on one hand is a result of trans-border displacement while on the other hand, is due to the intensity of internal displacement and its attendant need for protection and assistance of internally displaced persons. International aid has remained a constant theme in human displacement in general even when internally displaced persons are basically the responsibility of their government. This research examines the interventions of United Nations in the management of internally displaced persons in Nigeria. It made use of both primary and secondary sources of data. The major instrument of research was oral interview of key respondents. The research found out that the United Nations, through its specialised agencies has been playing significant roles in all facets of protection, relief and development of internally displaced persons in Nigeria. The United Nations interventions were observed in the provision of basic healthcare, education, shelter, security, food and non-food items, orientation, durable solution and psychosocial support. The research concludes that, international aid, especially from the United nations has been strategic to the management of the humanitarian crisis in Nigeria. But despite the volume of the interventions, the high population of the IDPs continue to overshadow it.

Abstract

The king or the master of a Nation did not want to see any kind of misery for his subjects. It may be thought that if people are in a problem then they will go to the king as if a son goes to the father for the solutions. Then the king will be the part of the problem and he has to pay attention to it. But if there is less or no problem in his state then the king also can think about the prosperity of the state. This can be experienced in the history of medieval India. There was continuous fighting between the Indian Kings as well as the wars between Islamic invaders and indigenous Hindu Kings. During this period almost all kings deviated from the developmental agenda and as a result, the common man, as well as the weaker section, became weaker and India became economically backward. This paper intends to through a fresh light on the so called dark side of the Hindu social system.
