Abstract

This research aims to determine the teacher’s perception of teacher-student interaction in the classroom. This research is conducted in SMA Negeri 3 Poso. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The subject is the English teacher and the students of tenth grade. The data are collected by observation about teacher-student interaction in the classroom and interviews with English teachers and somestudents of Academic Year 2017/2018. The result of the research shows that all students receive equal attention or help from the teacher, all students receive praise verbal is equal. While male students more participative in the classroom and they also usually get verbal sunction from the teacher

Abstract

The objectives of the research are to find out how many change of vowel sounds that often used by Pamonanese students and analyze how do Pamonanese students pronouncing English words. The researcher uses descriptive qualitative method in explain the result of the research. Data are gained from words, phrases, and sentences in English. The data are analyzed by using Fromkin theory of the relation between accent and phonology, and Mesthrie theory of seldom very localised accents, but rather modified regional accents. The result of the research shows that there are four change of vowel sounds that often used by Pamonanese students.They are vowel sound [ ə ] became [ e ], [ ɪ ] and [ i ] became [ i: ], [ ɔ ] and [ ə ]  became [ o ], and [ ə ] became [ a ]. Pamonanese students pronouncing English words in different ways or by their own way, such as changes vowel sounds when they are pronouncing an English word, and then produces the different sound of word. For example in the words again [əgɛn], someday [səmde], because [bɪkɔz] and animal [ænəməl]

Abstract

This research aims to describe learning style of the students in learning English at MAN Morowali. Design of this research is qualitative research. The instruments of this research are questionnaire and documentation. Data are gained by the result of questionnaire and documentation. The result of this research obtains that the learning style of Eleven grade students in learning English At MAN Morowali are classified into major, minor, negligible learning style preferences. Abstract

In language learning, vocabulary is very important. The development of these skills should be known from the very beginning as a central element of language teaching. Therefore, this study aimed at finding out the teachers ' way to build vocabulary skills using text at senior high school. The data were collected through an observation and test. The findings revealed that the reading text technique is effective in teaching new vocabularies. Beside that, this technique is important to help students memorize the new vocabularies. It can also stimulate them to be creative in producing and creating sentences

Abstract

The objective of the research is to find out the students’ achievement in constructing simple present sentence at the second grade of SMP Negeri 4 Lage. The method of the research is descriptive qualitative method. The role of the researcher is fully observer. The data are collected by giving the test. The technique of data analysis is used the following steps: correcting the students answer sheet, scoring the students answer, determining the level of students score.   The result of the research is 1 student (5,26%) is good level, 2 students (10,52%) are less level and 16 students (84,2%) are poor level. None student is Excellent, and fair level. It can be concluded that the students’ achievement in constructing simple present tense in to the second grade at SMP Negeri 4 lage is poor level.

Abstract

The objective of the research was to describe the grammatical errors were found in writing English Text Made by Tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Poso Pesisir Selatan. The method of the research used a descriptive method. The findings of the research were grammatical errors on writing of SMA Negeri 1 Poso Pesisir Selatan, The kinds of grammatical errors are error in using verb form, word order, subject/verb agreement, pronoun, spelling, capitalization, preposition, article, and adverb. The highest error  is error of sentence fragment tenses (23,83%)

Abstract

The objectives of the research are to describe the process of English teacher use word card game in teaching vocabulary to the first grade students at SMP Sintuwu Maroso Poso. The method of the research is qualitative descriptive. The source of this research is taken from the first year students of SMP Sintuwu Maroso Poso. The number of the students are 23 students. The finding of the research is the process of teaching and learning vocabulary using wordcard game during the three meeting in the class were implemented well. The teaching vocabulary using wordcards applied with kinds of games. The games were (1) Guess my word, (2) De-vowelled words and (3) Ghostwriting. Every meeting consists of some steps, they are: The first step is motivating strategy. Motivating strategy consist of greeting and warming up. The second step is presentation strategy. The teacher starts to write the new word on the board give the explanation about the word and the meaning of the word. The teacher also applied games in presenting the vocabulary to the students. The third is skill practice. The fourth step is assessment. The fifth step is closing.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' techniques in translating English text in the form of argumentative text at Sintuwu Maroso University. The research objects were 24 of sixth semester students of English Department. This research is a qualitative descriptive one that collected data through test (a Translation test) which was given to the students. The test results were analyzed by using the theory of target language text by Molina and Albir about Translation Technique. The results of this study indicated that in translating English-language text into Indonesia, the students use literal translation, borrowing, modulation, reduction, and established equivalent.
