Abstract

Tomato production can’t fulfill the consumption needs of tomatoes. One way to fulfill this need is to expand the land by planting tomatoes in the lowlands. However, the limited number of cultivars suitable for planting in the lowlands is an obstacle. Assembling new superior cultivars of tomato plants that have good adaptations in the lowlands is one solution that can be done. The aim of this research was to produce a new tomato strain with superior characters. The research design was using a Completely Randomized Block Design, as a treatment consisting of eight new strains of F6 generation tomato plants, each experimental unit was repeated three times. The variables observed were maximum plant height, number of primary branches per plant, number of fruit bunches per plant, number of fruit per bunch, number of fruit per plant, age of plant beginning to flower, age of fruit starting to form until physiological maturity, fruit diameter, the weight of each fruit, fruit yield per plant, fruit yield per hectare. The data were analyzed for variance, if there was a significant difference between treatments; further tests were carried out with the BNT test at an alpha of 0.05. The results showed that each strain had various quantitative characters. The LA, LA1, and LH strains had a higher potential yield per hectare compared to the other lines. The heritability values in most of the observed quantitative variables have moderate to high values. This shows that the character is more controlled by genetic traits. Abstract

One of the plants favored by all levels of society is cucumber because the fruit is consumed in fresh form, besides that it is also an ingredient in cosmetics, medicines and can be used as industrial raw materials. The type of research land is sandy soil which has problems, namely poor structure, low water absorption and storage capacity. The aim of this study was to examine the effect of interaction between chicken manure and bokashi Kayambang on the growth and yield of cucumber plants on sandy soil. The study was arranged in a factorial manner, using a Randomized Block Design with 2 treatment factors, 3 levels and 3 repetitions. The research stages started from land preparation, nursery, planting, maintenance, fertilization, maintenance and harvesting. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the plants that were given single treatment with bokashi Kayambang had a very significant effect on plant height at 21 and 28 DAP, number of leaves at 14 DAP, fruit length and number of fruit. While the combination treatment of chicken manure with bokashi Kayambang did not occur in all the observed variables. Cucumber fruit production per hectare using chicken manure treatment 2 t ha-1 and bokashi Kayambang 15 t ha-1 resulted in a weight of 2,911, 6 kg -1

Abstract

Shallots are one type of vegetable plant that has the potential to be cultivated in polybags to be used as filling plants in the yard of the house. The aim of the study was to determine the best dose of KNO3 fertilizer for the growth and yield of shallots in polybags. The treatments used in this study were unfertilized (0 g polybag-1), 0,3 g polybag-1, 0,6 g polybag-1, 0,9 g polybag-1, 1,2 g polybag-1, 1,5 g polybag-1, and 1., g polybag-1. The results showed that the treatment used had a significant effect on the growth and yield of shallots, especially on the variables of tuber diameter, dry bulb weight harvested per clump, and average dry weight harvested per tuber. KNO3 treatment dose of 0.9 g polybag-1 was the best treatment to increase the growth and yield of shallots in polybags

Abstract

Peanut production both in Java and outside Java tends to fluctuate. Nuts have a high economic value and are one of the sources of protein in the diet of the Indonesian population. This study aims to determine the application of NPK fertilizer to peanut crop production. The study was conducted in Pangkalan Panji Village, Banyuasin III, in March-June 2021. This study was compiled using a one-factor Randomized Block Design (RAK) with four replications. The factors used consist of six levels, namely N0, N1, N2, N3, N4 and N5. The results showed that the application of NPK fertilizer had no significant effect on plant height and weight of peanut pods, while the parameters of number of pods, number of branches, weight of wet pods and weight of 100 grains showed a significant effect on NPK treatment of 300 kg/ha (50g/plot).

Abstract

Cucumber production has decreased in 2017, it was still increase, one of production by providing organic matter and good fertilization, therefore it is necessary to respond to growth and production of cucumber plants with fertilization from cow manure and liquid organic coconut coir fertilizer which the NPK nutrient content in both of these organic materials. This study aims to determine the response of growth and yield of cucumber (Cucumis Sativus L.) to cow manure and coconut coir liquid organic fertilizer. This research has been carried out in the village of Sembawa, Banyuasin Regency. The implementation of the study began in March 2021 until May 2021. The design used was a Randomized Block Design arranged in a factorial manner with 9 treatment combinations, each treatment repeated 3 times. The treatmensts were A = Cow Manure, B = Coconut Coir Poc. The parameters observed in this study were plant height (cm), fruit length (cm), fruit diameter (cm), and fruit weight (grams). The results of the analysis of diversity (F test) showed that the interaction between cow manure and coco coir had no significant effect on fruit diameter and fruit weight. The coefficient of diversity (KK) values varied from 3.34% to 11.92%. The resutls of the analysis of the further test of Honest Significant Difference, the best treatment was P2 (cow manure dose 15 tons / 1.8 kg per plot) and S2 (coconut coir poc 15 % concetration). Abstract

Terong (Solanum melongena L) merupakan salah satu komoditas hortikultura di Indonesia yang diyakini sebagai sumber beberapa zat gizi esensial yang dibutuhkan oleh tubuh manusia. Produktivitas terong di Indonesia cenderung meningkat setiap tahun. Namun, produksi terong masih belum mampu memenuhi permintaan pasar yang tinggi. Hambatan terpenting dalam upaya peningkatan produktivitas tanaman terong adalah terganggunya Organisme Pengganggu. penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui intensitas penyakit yang menjangkiti dua lahan budidaya terong yang memiliki teknik budidaya berbeda. Penelitian ini dilakukan di lahan terong milik petani di Desa Gunung Cahya, Kecamatan Buay Rawan, Kabupaten Ogan Komering Ulu Selatan, Provinsi Sumatera Selatan. Metode observasi yang diterapkan dalam praktek lapangan ini adalah metode observasi langsung di lapangan yang dilakukan secara purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan 2 penyakit yang menyerang 2 lahan terong yang diamati, yaitu penyakit bercak daun (Cercospora sp), dan penyakit virus kuning. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian terhadap kedua lahan milik petani berbeda secara signifikan penyakit yang menyerang tanaman terung, Hal ini dikarenakan adanya perbedaan dalam teknik budidaya tanaman tersebut.

Abstract

At the selection stage in breeding with gamma irradiation mutation induction, seeds from the previous generation are needed to be planted in the field to obtain the next generation of mutants. The seeds before planting have undergone a storage period, during the storage period if the temperature, humidity, and storage conditions are not right it will affect the viability and vigor of the seeds which can reduce the germination of seeds in the field Tests to determine seed vigor can be done by conducting a conductivity test (DHL). The purpose of this study was to determine the conductivity value of each genotype of the third generation mutant and the percentage of germination of black soybean seeds during the storage period. This study used a non-factorial completely randomized design (CRD) with 10 mutant genotypes and 1 control (without irradiation), and each treatment was replicated four times. Observation variables were electrical conductivity/conductivity, germination rate, growth speed, growth synchronously, vigor index, and maximum growth potential. Based on the conductivity/DHL test, genotypes with high Conductivity/DHL values ​​have a low percentage of germination, but the percentage of germination is still above 80% during the storage period, so it is expected that they will still have high germination ability in the field. Abstract

Citrus (Citrus sinensis L.) is an important agricultural commodity and currently occupying the important place in agroindustry, either as fresh fruit or processed products. On of obstacles in the citrus production is the present of crop damaging insects which has been making farmers confused to control. Most of them do not know how to the species or type of insect infesting their citrus cultivation and also do not know how to control them. The objective of this field study was to know the effects of cultural technique culture on the insect population and their damaging effects on the citrus crops (Citrus sinensis)in District Ogan Komering Ilir, South Sumatra .The method reseacrh was survey method started with the determination of survey location, sample plots, sample crops and observation to collect data on insect population and the intensity of damage made by the insects. The study was conducted in two different citrus cultivations. Data of insect population and damage intensity produced were analysed using T test with significant level 5%. The insect found on citrus trees was Toxoptera citridus, (Hemiptera: Aphididae).
