Abstract

Traditional Balinese wedding ceremonies in various forms adapt to local customs. This can be seen from the series of events, the ideas used, and the specific rules that apply to the bride. Like for example what happened in Duda Timur Village is a bit different from the traditions in the surrounding area. However, although the variations appear to be different, all of these traditions are patterned in preparation, im- plementation and post-implementation. In the village of Duda Timur itself, the preparatory ceremony begins with the selection of a good day which is very important, because the success of the ritual and the consequences of the future marriage are determined by the choice of the day. After the day is determined, according to the schedule the process will be carried out such as ngentenin, mebasan pupur, ngungkab lawang and mejauman. This article describes in detail the description of the implementation of the cer- emony from preparation to post-ceremony. Each stage is carried out well because there are symbols or messages to be conveyed and must be known by the bride, so that when they are married they are ready for their new life.

Hinduism teaches that nature is a manifestation of God. He is present and pervades all his creations. Today, Bali with most of it’s Hindusm majority is also not spared from environmental damage. One of the phenomena that occurred was the conversion of agricultural land. The Balinese people who used to be known as agricultural societies are now threatened to lose their rice fields. Subak which is a world cultural heritage is now facing a big challenge due to the reduced interest of Balinese people to become farmers and supported by the phenomenon of land conversion. Abstract

The caste system is one of the foundations of the emergence of social problems in society. Indeed caste is one of the tactics of colonists in the Dutch colonial period that tried to influence and divide the unity and unity of Balinese society, making it easy to conquer. Actually known as Catur Warna, the goal is not to distinguish one group from another vertically, but because of the procession and ability of each individual. Here it is clear that warna is the name for people who master a particular field. If the society is not organized by warna, then there will be problems arising in social life. From this concept it is important to emphasize that everyone has the right to increase his or her dignity to be superior to others. All of warna have the opportunity to develop goodness for the sake of lofty ideals, this is the real principle of equality or egalitarianism. In a spiritual perspective, the real hu- man existence is the identification or recognition of the self with the atma that in Hinduism involves the principle of yoga that God is in every human being, therefore, the principle of Godhead in every being is the same. This means that God is in all beings so that there is unity in all of His creations.
