Abstract

Solar Power Plants (PLTS) have gained popularity in many countries as a clean, cost-effective, and sustainable source of electricity for communities. However, these plants face challenges in converting the electrical current produced by solar panels from direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC), which is widely used by most electrical equipment. In this regard, the role of inverters is crucial. This study aims to design and construct a single-phase pure sine wave inverter using Arduino as the primary controller. The inverter produces a pure sinusoidal output signal with adjustable width using the modulation index and is equipped with a safety system to prevent short circuits between MOSFETs by setting dead time in the Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) signal. The designed inverter output can generate a sinusoidal signal of up to 100 Watts without significant distortion under various loads, with an output voltage of 220VAC ±0.25% and a frequency of 50Hz ±0.10%. While the inverter efficiency reaches 70% across various loads, there is potential to enhance efficiency by incorporating a feedback voltage system and adjusting the carrier frequency. This study has successfully designed and implemented a single-phase inverter that generates a pure sine wave using Arduino as the main controller.  Keyword: Inverter, Pure Sine Wave, Pulse Width Modulation, Arduino

Abstract

Cooperative spectrum sensing is one of the main approaches to improve the efficiency of spectrum utilization in cognitive radio networks. This study aims to evaluate the performance of a softened hard two-bit combining scheme in cooperative spectrum sensing. This scheme combines the sensing information from multiple secondary users by utilizing a softened two-bit representation to improve the detection accuracy and reduce the error probability. The evaluation is carried out through simulations under various channel conditions, such as AWGN and Rayleigh fading channels, considering factors such as signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and the number of secondary users. The results show that this scheme is able to significantly improve the detection probability (Pd) compared to the conventional hard combination method, especially under low SNR conditions. In addition, this scheme shows efficiency in reducing communication overhead, making it a promising solution for the implementation of reliable spectrum sensing in cognitive radio networks. This paper measures the performance of cooperative spectrum sensing, over Rayleigh fading channel and additive white Gaussian noise, based on softened two-bit hard combination scheme. Two measures based on energy detection are considered including effect of false alarm probability, and effect of number of users. Simulation results show that the detection probability increases with the increase of false alarm probability, number of users, and signal-to-noise-ratio.   Keyword: Softened two-bit hard combination scheme, Cooperative spectrum sensing, Cognitive radio

Abstract

Traffic is a key element in the transportation system. Traffic is an integral part of urban life and a key element in the transportation system. Traffic safety is a major concern to prevent accidents and ensure safe mobility. Traffic accidents are one of the most common occurrences. . But on the other hand, the increase in road accidents is increasing, which can be caused by people's lack of knowledge about traffic. The main solution to overcome this problem is to increase knowledge about traffic. The application of artificial intelligence, especially object detection methods with the use of detector-based deep learning methods, is one method that has proven efficient in detecting objects in real-time. In this research, object recognition is performed using SSD (Single Shot MultiBox Detector) where the model is trained and tested for its performance in detecting traffic signs in Indonesia. From the research results, the mAP 50 and mAP 50-95 values are 89.66% and 65.49%, respectively.  Keyword: Deep Learning, SSD, Traffic Signs.

Abstract

Riding comfort is greatly influenced by the strength and stability of the motorcycle, one of which is the Engine Arm component that connects the frame and the engine. One important factor is the swingarm, which is designed to withstand loads and torsional stiffness. This study aims to examine the effect of air, sand, and furnace cooling media on the SMAW welding of ASTM A36 steel on tensile strength and microstructure after Post Weld Heat Treatment at a temperature of 780°C with a holding time of 60 minutes. The research uses experimental methods with tensile testing to measure tensile strength and strain, as well as microstructural analysis to observe phase changes in the weld metal and Heat Affected Zone (HAZ).The tensile test results show that the air cooling medium produced the highest tensile strength (268.8 MPa) and an average elongation of 8.95%, while the sand medium produced the lowest tensile strength (265.77 MPa) with an elongation of 8.25%.Microstructural analysis revealed that in specimens with sand cooling media, the ferrite phase is dominant, providing toughness, whereas in air cooling media, there is a ferrite phase but with a slight presence of martensite phase structure, resulting in a structure that is soft yet somewhat hard. The research results show that faster cooling media increase tensile strength and alter the microstructure of ASTM A36 steel.

Abstract

Low-voltage electricity distribution networks have an important role in ensuring a reliable electricity supply for the community because they are directly connected to customers. However, this network is prone to disturbances due to natural factors such as extreme weather and external disturbances such as fallen trees, wild animals, and human activities. This study aims to identify the types of disorders that commonly occur and evaluate the effectiveness of the handling procedures implemented by PT PLN (Persero) UP3 Sidoarjo ULP Krian. The method used is qualitative descriptive through direct observation in the field with the PLN technical team. The results of the study showed that the most dominant disturbances were caused by strong winds, heavy rain, and cable connection disruptions. Handling procedures start from identifying the location of the fault through customer reports, technical checks using measuring instruments such as ampere pliers and tespen, to corrective actions and evaluations. In addition, the aspect of occupational safety is also a major concern in each stage. Evaluation of the system is carried out post-repair to ensure there is no potential for further disruption. In conclusion, the reliability of the distribution network can be improved through systematic handling procedures, periodic maintenance, and active participation of the community. This study provides a practical overview of the importance of network disruption management as part of efforts to improve the quality of national electricity services.  Keywords: Power outage, Distribution network, System reliability, Technical handling

Abstract

Analyze the effect of the slope of the feeding valve on the consumption of quail feed to determine the optimal angle of inclination, evaluate the effect of the variation in the diameter of the timing pulley on the conveyor belt on the rotation speed and cleaning time of the cage manure to find the most effective pulley size, and study the effect of liquid viscosity on the filling time of the tank using a water pump in order to optimize the liquid filling system in the farm. An applied experimental method with a quantitative approach was used to test the influence of free variables. The data collected including feed consumption, fecal cleaning time, and drinking water filling time were analyzed numerically to obtain valid and objective results. The results showed that increasing the tilt of the feeding valve from 20°, 25°, to 30° increased feed consumption from an average of 348 grams to 725 grams. The timing diameter of the pulley has an effect on the rotational speed and cleaning time, with the small pulley (25 mm) resulting in the fastest cleaning (0.42 minutes) and the largest pulley (50 mm) the slowest (1.38). In addition, the viscosity of the liquid affects the filling time of the 10-liter tank, where ordinary water is the fastest (3.52 minutes), water with 5 vitamins is slightly longer, and the mixture of water with molasses and salt is the slowest (4.31 minutes).
