Abstract

Abstract This research was aimed to describe the historical insight and characteristic culture value of historical tour guide in Japanese Tunnel Panoramic Tourism Object. This research used qualitative method and ethnography approach. Purposive sampiling technique was used to select the informant with total number was 9 people. Data was collected by using method of interview, observation, and documentation. Intervew was conducted by applying indepth interview technique and observation was conducted by applying participant observation technique which object was examined in along period of time. Data was analyzed by using interactive analysis technique from Miles and Huberman (interactive analysis model) namely data reduction, data model, and conclusion. The result of this research showed that historical tour guide in Japanese Panoramic Tourism Object has had well historical insight (good). Such historical insight was obtained from written sources such as internet and history-related books. However, regarding competence and characteristic culture value, there was still no essential guiding elements such aslanguage skill; it was still difficult to serve foreign tourist. Professionalism (attitudes); humble manner, hospitality, politeness. Appearance (style); there has no identity badge (name tag) as a tour guide, and guiding technique; no interactive deliver for information thatleads to a dialogue which feedback was rarely given by both tour guide and tourist. Abstract

Abstract Ethnic Javanese in Kayu Aro District are the majority ethnic in the middle of the Kerinci community settlement in Kayu Aro District. Even though there are migrants, the Javanese ethnic culture and customs in Kayu Aro Subdistrict are still carried out and maintained. Javanese ethnicity in Kayu Aro has a very important role in economic development in Kerinci Regency. The existence of ethnic Javanese since Dutch colonialism in Kayu Aro, has become an important history and needs to be known. This paper aims to reveal how the history of Javanese ethnic migration in Kayu Aro District. This study uses historical methods with heuristic data collection techniques, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The results showed that the migration of Javanese in Kayu Aro District originated from an ethical political program implemented by the Dutch colonial government, namely education, irrigation and migration. The Dutch colonial government brought ethnic Javanese to Kayu Aro sub-district as contract workers for tea plantations which began in 1928. However, along with the development of colonization, the Dutch colonial government experienced difficulties in providing workers salaries. Therefore, one way to pay for the salary, the Dutch colonial government gave each head of the family land to live outside of the HGU land.

Abstract

Abstract The 4.20 Society is a social community consisting of several individuals with different backgrounds, hobbies, jobs and even religious backgrounds and social status. The purpose of this study is 1) Describe the values ​​doctrined by the 4.20 Society in Jakarta. 2) Describe efforts to internalize the values ​​contained in the 4.20 Society with members of the 4.20 Society Community in the regions of Indonesia. 3) Explain some of the effects of internalizing members of the 4.20 Society related to the vision and mission of the 4.20 Society Community itself. This study uses a qualitative approach to the type of case study research. The research subjects were 4.20 Society in the City of Jakarta and Bandung. The informant selection technique was done by purposive sampling. Data was collected by full participant observation techniques and in-depth interviews. The results of the study explain that the values ​​indoctrinated at the 4.20 Indonesian Society are values ​​about tolerance. Tolerance here is more intended to address existing differences. The Slogan Respect Differences Enjoy Tolerance is a slogan that has its own meaning for all 4.20 Society members themselves. Thus these values ​​have an impact on the internalization of each member of the 4.20 Indonesian Society.

Abstract

This article described how the kind of the socio-economics changed in Sungai Pisang Fishermen society, Teluk Kabung Selatan Sub-district, Bungus Teluk Kabung District. Padang city. This research used a qualitative approach with the type of case study. Informant selection technique was purposive sampling. Data were obtained by in-depth interviews, non-participation observation and documentation. Data were analyzed by Miles and Huberman models (reduction, display, and conclusion drawing / verification). The results of this research revealed that the society of Sungai Pisang fishermen has undergone a change in socio-culture, which has been used by the society as traditional fishermen with traditional boats to catch fish now able to modify the boat to become a boat providing marine tourism services in the Sungai Pisang area that is rooted in social conditions. The economy and changes in the behavior of the local society as passengers living right after the entry of marine tourism in Sungai Pisang.

Abstract

The land market Kongsi is one of the markets whichhas quite long history. The market has approximately existed since the early 19th century because of the localization carried out by the Dutch government toward Chinese ethnic in Padang city. The purpose of this localization is to ease the interaction occurred between Chinese ethnic and local society particularly Minangkabaunese. The research aims at describing the changes occurred in land market Kongsi from 1976 until 2016. How the condition of the market faces the changes happened in Padang city then still survive until today. The research is qualitative research, using the historical method which uses four stages; heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The result shows that the land market Kongsi meets changes very slowly. There is not much renewal done by the government toward the market even though it has been taken since 1976.

Abstract

Abstract

ABSTRACT Tradition is the elements of universal culture, and culture itself is the whole mind and the results of human work. Besides, tradition is also a habit that is carried out from generation to generation by people in different places that must be obeyed and done by the local community. Like the tradition of Batalameatingof the Banjar tribe in Paluh Manan Village, Hamparan Perak Sub-district, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra. The tradition of the Batalam eating itself is a local wisdom that has its own value and meaning, especially for the Banjar tribe. This researchwas aimed at describing the development of the Batalameating tradition on the Banjar tribe, identifying the symbols and meanings contained in the Batalameating and what values ​​are contained in the tradition of the Batalameating on the Banjar tribe. This research used a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach. The selection of informants was done by using a purposive sampling technique. The data collection techniques in this research were observation, in-depth interviews (depth interviews) and documentation studies obtained in writing or verbally. From the results of this research, the data that the Batalameating tradition itself was still preserved in various traditional rituals, especially in weddings and even inherited from generation to generation as the local wisdom in the hope that the tradition would not be eroded by the times, so the symbols and meanings contained in the Batalameating could be interpreted well, and the values ​​contained in the tradition of the Batalameating were the honor, togetherness, management in life, status quo, etc.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to know how the community of Koto Parik Gadang Diateh District in Solok Selatan adapted to the flood disaster risk. It was a descriptive qualitative research using purposive sampling technique to select the sample and interview and documentation to collect the data. The obtained data was then analized descriptively to present the facts found in the field. Types of community adaptation in the district were 1) Community passive and active adaptation to the flood disaster risk covered the activities of increasing income, elevating household appliances and equipment, and priotizing basic needs. 2) Community social adaptation to the flood disaster risk included well established kinship and sociological systems when the disaster hit and mutual cooperation to cope with the disaster. 3) Community economic adaptation to the flood disaster risk Included the community activities in fulfilling their clothing, food, and housing needs and donation from social organization such as the district officials, BPBD of Slok Selatan Regency (a regional disaster management agency), MRI (Indonesian Volunteer Community), ACT (Aksi Cepat Tanggap) and others. (4) Community cultural adaptation to the flood disaster risk. It related to the community customs, such as tahlilan and istighosa when they were having the misfortune and it also included constructing Floodway to reduce the flood risk. These 4 community adaptations interracted with each other and they were very important in facing flood risks. Keywords: Adaptation, Risk, Flood Disaster

Abstract

This study aims to formulate the policies of community-based earthquake disaster management in Jorong Koto Sungai Kunyit, Sangir Balai Janggo District, South Solok. The type of research conducted is a mixed method or research that combines qualitative and quantitative approaches. Data collection techniques used through interviews and literature studies with subjects of the research are sub-district head secretary, community and customary elders. The data collected is then processed and analyzed using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) technique. The results of the study show that in the response to the community-based disaster management in Jorong Koto Sungai Kunyit, Sangir Balai Janggo Subdistrict, South Solok, there are four criterias, eight policy alternatives and three priority policies that have been followed up. The criteria consists of community behaviour, education, local wisdom, : 1) buildings that are in accordance with the natural conditions of the South Solok and the buildings used must be earthquake resistant, 2) socialization about earthquake risk knowledge and management of earthquake response and counseling and training on rescue efforts and community awareness programs on earthquakes. 3). in terms of institutional and management actions, namely by preparing and providing equipment for earthquake hazard warnings and other community protection equipment at the jorong / nagari / sub-district level in the form of (tents, mats, etc.). 4). in terms of education about the earthquake, the local government is required to enter sub-material on earthquake disasters into the plan for implementing student learning and curriculum

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to analyze community participation Solok Selatan in flood disaster mitigation. Type of the study was a descriptive qualitative research with purposive sampling data retrieval method that was, a society that found when the community affected by flash flooding in Solok Selatan. Techniques of data collection were observation, interviews and documentation. Information from the community were reduced, then drawn conclusions of public participation Solok Selatan in the pre mitigation disaster such as: (1) cleaning up their own house, burning garbage, do not throw garbage into the river and wild, (2) planting trees along the river flow, (3) evacuating to higher ground. In short, public participation after the disaster werr working together to improve homes, public facilities, make emergency tents.
