Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of Lotto-based learning media in enhancing number concept recognition among children aged 5-6 years in early childhood education settings. Premilinary observations indicated that children experienced difficulties in identifying number symbols, sequencing numbers, and matching quantities with corresponding numerals due to limited instructional media and minimal use of interactive learning approaches. A quantitative one-group pretest-posttest design was employed involving 13 children selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, testing, and documentation, and analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired sample t-test. The results revealed an improvement in the mean score from 60.23 in the pretest to 80.38 in the posttest, indicating significant gains in early numeracy skills. Beyond statistical improvement, Lotto media facilitated play-based and interactive learning experiences, enabling children to actively engage with numerical concepts through visual and concrete-symbolic respresentations. The media supported meaningful learning by connecting abstract number symbols with tangible quantities, fostering motivation and conceptual understanding. This study contributes to early childhood numeracy pedagogy by demonstrating the instructional value of game-based learning media in promoting foundational number concepts. The findings suggest that Lotto media can be integrated into early childhood classrooms as an effective pedagogical tool to enhance numeracy learning and student engagement.

Abstract

This study evaluates the implementation of online tahsin programs for older adults as a form of sustainable Islamic education that supports lifelong Qur’anic learning. The research addresses the growing need for accessible Islamic educational programs for elderly learners who experience physical, cognitive, and technological limitations in conventional learning settings. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of online tahsin learning in improving Qur’anic reading skills among older adults and to examine its contribution to spiritual and psychological well-being. A qualitative approach with a literature-based evaluative design was employed using the CIPP evaluation model (Context, Input, Process, and Product). Data were collected from relevant scholarly articles, previous studies, program documents, and supporting literature related to tahsin learning, Islamic education, and elderly education. The findings indicate that online tahsin programs provide flexible and accessible learning opportunities for older adults while fostering continuous religious engagement. The implementation of talaqqi and talqin methods through digital platforms contributes positively to improving tajwid accuracy, makharijul huruf, learning motivation, and emotional well-being among elderly participants. However, several challenges remain, including limited digital literacy, declining memory capacity, and the need for intensive mentoring and adaptive instructional strategies. The study concludes that online tahsin programs represent an important innovation in sustainable Islamic education for elderly communities and recommends the development of more inclusive, andragogical, and technology-assisted learning models to support lifelong Qur’anic education.

Abstract

English instruction in Islamic educational institutions navigates a fundamental tension: it must deliver genuine communicative competence while remaining anchored in the moral and spiritual purposes of Islamic education (tarbiyah). This article addresses that tension by proposing Technology-Enhanced Communicative Lesson Design (TECLD), a pedagogical planning framework that integrates digital pedagogy, communicative language teaching (CLT), and Islamic curriculum values into a unified lesson structure. Drawing on a systematic qualitative literature review of 21 peer-reviewed sources published between 2017 and 2025, the discussion examines how technology-mediated communicative activities can be aligned with the tarbiyah ideal of holistic learner development encompassing intellectual, moral, social, and spiritual dimensions. The central argument is that technology should serve not merely as an engagement tool or score-lifting mechanism but as a medium for meaningful communication that cultivates Islamic ethical dispositions: honesty (amanah), courtesy (adab), cooperation (taʻawun), accountability (masʺuliyyah), and self-development (tazakkiy). Communicative competence, reconceptualised through an Islamic lens, extends beyond fluency and accuracy to encompass ethical speech and appropriate conduct across digital, social, and intercultural contexts. Digital instruments including collaborative documents, video-based tasks, online discussion forums, and AI-assisted writing tools can support activities such as digital storytelling, group debate, reflective journaling, and project-based learning. The article concludes that TECLD acquires full pedagogical and moral legitimacy within Islamic EFL classrooms only when its learning objectives, materials, tasks, and assessment instruments are deliberately aligned with both communicative language goals and the character formation aims of the Islamic curriculum.

Abstract

Fine motor skills in early childhood often do not develop optimally due to the limited use of concrete, engaging, and interactive learning media in classroom activities. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of Play Book media in improving fine motor skills and children’s independence at TK Negeri Pembina Gorontalo City. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) using the Kemmis and McTaggart model conducted in two cycles involving 14 children aged 4–5 years. Data were collected through observation and documentation and analyzed using descriptive quantitative techniques. The results showed a significant improvement in children’s fine motor abilities and independence, increasing from 30% in the pre-cycle stage to 63.75% in Cycle I and reaching 92.32% in Cycle II. The improvement occurred through structured and repetitive activities in the Play Book that stimulated hand–eye coordination, concentration, accuracy, and independent learning behavior. The novelty of this study lies in integrating visual-interactive media with a drill-based learning approach to strengthen fine motor development. Practically, the media effectively supports early childhood learning while fostering discipline, responsibility, and independence as part of Islamic character education.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in Islamic Religious Education (Pendidikan Agama Islam/PAI) learning at MAS Darussyariah, where the curriculum has been implemented for the past two years. However, field findings indicate that PAI teachers have not yet fully optimized the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in instructional practices. This study aims to analyze the challenges faced by PAI teachers and identify the strategies employed to optimize the implementation of the curriculum. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. Learning documents such as teaching modules, instructional media, and assessment instruments were used for triangulation and to evaluate the alignment between instructional planning and classroom practice. The findings reveal that the challenges experienced by PAI teachers include limited understanding of the Merdeka Curriculum, difficulties in designing differentiated teaching modules, diverse assessment demands, insufficient professional training, limited facilities and infrastructure, and the need to adapt learning practices to the era of modernization while maintaining Islamic values. The strategies implemented include improving teachers’ competencies through training programs, applying flexible and digital-based learning approaches, integrating Islamic values into instructional processes and the Pancasila Student Profile, as well as implementing authentic assessment. This study provides practical implications for strengthening instructional processes in PAI learning to support the effective implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

Early childhood anxiety, as a form of mild mental disorder, can hinder cognitive development if not identified and managed appropriately. This study aims to explore the characteristics and causal factors of anxiety in children aged 5–6 years, as well as to examine teacher–parent collaboration in managing anxiety within the framework of Islamic early childhood education. This research employed a qualitative case study approach involving children, teachers, and parents at a kindergarten setting. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation during September 2025. The findings reveal that children exhibited symptoms such as excessive fear, social withdrawal, and decreased concentration, which negatively affected their learning processes. Contributing factors included inconsistent parenting, academic pressure, limited teacher competence in early detection, and weak coordination between school and home. From an Islamic educational perspective, managing anxiety is part of tarbiyah that nurtures children’s emotional balance, faith, and character (akhlaq). Teacher–parent collaboration reflects the principle of amanah (educational responsibility), fostering a supportive environment characterized by compassion, patience, and empathy. Practical strategies such as consistent communication, play-based learning, storytelling, and emotional support contribute to children’s psychological security and readiness to learn. This study highlights that integrating emotional care with Islamic values supports holistic child development, combining cognitive growth with spiritual and moral formation in early childhood education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic educational psychology in shaping honest and trustworthy (amanah) character among students. The study employed a qualitative approach through library research by analyzing various relevant literature related to educational psychology, Islamic education, and character development. The findings reveal that Islamic educational psychology plays a significant role in integrating cognitive, affective, and spiritual dimensions within the learning process. The formation of honest and trustworthy character is determined not only by the transfer of knowledge but also by strengthening faith, habituating moral behavior, and creating a learning environment that supports students’ personality development. Pedagogically, these findings emphasize that psychological approaches in Islamic education can create more meaningful learning processes by considering students’ emotional development, self-awareness, and social responsibility. This implies the importance of integrating the values of honesty and trustworthiness into learning strategies, character education models, and teacher–student interactions. This study provides a conceptual contribution to the development of value-based Islamic education, particularly in designing learning processes that are oriented not only toward intellectual achievement but also toward character formation and students’ moral awareness.

Abstract

This study examines the formation of Islamic entrepreneurial character among santri at Pondok Pesantren Darul Amanah through a tarbiyah-based educational approach. Unlike conventional entrepreneurship education, which primarily emphasizes economic independence, pesantren-based entrepreneurship places spiritual values, moral responsibility, and social benefit (maslahah) as its fundamental principles. This study aims to analyze how the pesantren educational system shapes students’ entrepreneurial character through the integration of religious learning, daily practices, and the internalization of Islamic values. The research employed a qualitative approach with a field research design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis by employing Islamic educational principles, particularly tarbiyah, akhlaq, and maqasid al-shariah, as interpretative frameworks. The findings reveal that the formation of entrepreneurial character in the pesantren is not merely oriented toward economic competence but represents a holistic process integrating the values of honesty (siddiq), trustworthiness (amanah), discipline, and social responsibility. These values are cultivated through integrated learning practices, such as sorogan and bandongan methods, direct involvement in pesantren business units, and continuous moral guidance from the caregivers. This study contributes to the development of a tarbiyah-based Islamic entrepreneurship education model that positions pesantren as an alternative educational paradigm for producing ethical, character-driven entrepreneurs who are oriented toward the welfare of the Muslim community.

Abstract

The integration of technology in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) has become increasingly important in developing students’ digital literacy and supporting Islamic character formation in higher education. This study investigates how technology integration in the PAI Study Program at Universitas Buana Perjuangan Karawang contributes to students’ digital competence, learning engagement, and ethical awareness in Islamic education learning. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with lecturers and students, classroom observations, and documentation. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify patterns related to technology use, digital literacy development, and learning interaction. The findings reveal that the use of digital technologies, including laptops, presentation applications, online learning platforms, and educational game-based media, enhances students’ communication skills, creativity, collaboration, and critical engagement in learning. Technology integration also supports the development of responsible and ethical digital behavior aligned with Islamic educational values. However, limitations in infrastructure, internet access, and technological facilities remain significant challenges in optimizing learning effectiveness. This study contributes to the discourse on technology-integrated Islamic education by demonstrating that digital literacy in PAI learning is not limited to technical competence but also includes ethical and character dimensions relevant to the digital era. The findings highlight the importance of balanced technology integration that supports both academic and spiritual development in Islamic higher education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the integrative model of pesantren-based education implemented through the Prosantrimore program at SMA Negeri Glenmore as an innovation in Islamic education within public schools in the digital era. The study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design to examine the processes of religious habituation, digital behavior management, and collaborative educational practices between schools and families. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews with the principal, program coordinators, teachers, and students, as well as documentation review. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings reveal that the success of Prosantrimore is supported by three main components: systematic religious habituation, digital behavior control based on pesantren values, and collaborative management between teachers and parents. The program contributes not only to strengthening students’ religious character but also to developing ethical digital behavior and school culture management. This study contributes to the development of an integrative Islamic education model that combines character education, digital ethics, and collaborative educational management within public schools. The findings imply that pesantren-based educational integration can serve as an innovative strategy for strengthening character education policies in the digital era.
