Abstract

The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) recommends International Recommendations for Tourism Statistics (IRTS) and Tourism Satellite Accounts: Recommended Methodological Framework (TSA: RMF) 2008 as standard manuals for calculating tourism contributions to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The Statistics Indonesia-BPS, as a national statistical office in Indonesia, adopted these recommendations in measuring tourism contribution in Indonesia. So, it manages in comparison with a global level. This adoption also improves the method of calculating tourism contributions conducted previously using a shock approach in the input-output table to a supply-demand by using the supply and use table (SUT) framework. The SUT framework arranges the provision of tourism products produced by the tourism and non-tourism industries. By juxtaposing it with internal tourism consumption, the tourism contribution is achieved. The calculation results show an increasing trend of Indonesia's tourism contribution from 2016 to 2019. Judging from the tourism direct gross domestic product (TDGDP), the tourism sector contributes 4.6 to 4.9 percent of the Indonesian GDP.

Abstract

Sirnajaya Village is one of the nature-based tourist destinations in Bogor Regency. Its potential as a natural tourist destination has not been matched by maximizing the supporting components of tourism activities, one of which is professionally managed tourism flows. This village has various historical heritages typical of Sundanese culture that should be protected and preserved, one of which is the Grave of Eyang Surya Kencana. The absence of clear guidelines and systems on tourism management in this village can threaten the sustainability of its historical value. Based on this, this study aims to design a cultural-based tourism route in Sirnajaya Village. The research method used consists of data collection methods and data analysis methods. Research data collection was carried out by field observations, interviews with community leaders, and secondary data collection through relevant literature. Data such as the condition of tourist destinations and historical stories of the formation of Sirnajaya Village are then processed through qualitative descriptive analysis methods, SWOT analysis (Strenghts, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) to produce recommendations, as well as Google Earth spatial analysis to determine tourist routes based on their potential. The results of the research are in the form of directions for the development of a tourist route that stretches from Raden Wargajaya's Tomb at the village entrance to the grave of Eyang Surya Kencana in the Situ Rawa Gede area. This tourist route recommendation is expected to help the development and conservation of cultural heritage in Sirnajaya Village through tourism activities.

Abstract

Community-based tourism development is one of the tourism concepts expected to optimize the benefits felt by the community. However, community readiness is needed in its development efforts because they will be the managers and organizers of these development activities. This study aims at the Lawe Gurah community’s preparation to develop community-based tourism activities in their area and realize sustainable community-based tourism. This research was conducted qualitatively by conducting interviews with the community and various stakeholders involved in the development effort. The analytical framework used to identify the condition of community readiness is the stages developed by the Asia-Pacific Economy-Cooperation (APEC). The study results indicate that the Lawe Gurah community has good readiness to develop community-based tourism activities. Based on nine crucial stages, the community has reached stage 6, which means: that the community is ready to develop tourism in their area, the community has basic skills for tourism development, there is leadership and organizational structure for tourism management, there are efforts to advance  tourism management organizations, partnership development, adopting an integrated approach. Three more states that have not been achieved are the availability of product plans and designs, preparation of marketing strategies, and implementation and monitoring of the area. Therefore, the community still needs to prepare several things to be more sustainable tourism development. These things are related to tourism development with an integrated approach, the preparation of various tourism products, studies related to tourism demand, and the monitoring and evaluation mechanism of these tourism activities.

Abstract

Changes in the framework, methodology, and indicators used by the World Economic Forum (WEF) in measuring and ranking the competitiveness of world tourism through the Travel and Tourism Development Index (TTDI) have implications for Indonesian government policies in achieving the target of tourism competitiveness rankings. By using a qualitative descriptive approach, and documentation study techniques in data collection, this policy study aims to provide an overview of the policy implications of the issuance of the 2021 TTDI. The legal umbrella for increasing tourism competitiveness consists of laws, presidential regulations, government regulations, and ministerial regulations. In 2019 Indonesia's Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Index (TTCI) ranking was 40, but after conversion using the TTDI framework, methodology, and indicators, the rank dropped to 44. Indonesia's TTDI ranking in the 2021 edition is 32, meaning an increase of 12. The change from TTCI to TTDI has implications for adjustment of the target performance indicators related to tourism competitiveness written in the president's regulation and the regulation of the minister of tourism and creative economy. This change also causes ministries/agencies to remap supporting indicators that potentially impact adjusting the legal umbrella related to cross-sectoral coordination of tourism implementation in Indonesia.
