Abstract

Self-regulation in learning refers to an individual's ability to direct, monitor, and regulate their behavior, motivation, and emotions to achieve academic goals. However, not all students possess strong self-regulation skills in learning, as observed in superior classes. Students in regular classes tend to procrastinate more frequently, pay less attention to teachers, and struggle with learning. This study aims to investigate the differences in self-regulation in learning between students in regular and superior classes. The study employs a quantitative approach with a comparative design. The research participants comprise 68 sixth-grade students at Phatnawitya School, Thailand, with a sample of 45 students selected through cluster sampling. The research instrument consists of a self-regulation learning scale with 12 validated statements assessed using SPSS Statistics 26. This scale includes three aspects: metacognition, motivation, and behavior. Data analysis using an independent t-test revealed a significance value of 0.177 (p > 0.05), indicating no significant differences in self-regulation between students in superior and regular classes.

Abstract

Bullying is aggressive behavior involving a power imbalance between the victim and the perpetrator. A negatively perceived school climate can increase maladaptive behaviors, including bullying. Social support, encompassing a sense of being valued, loved, and cared for also play a critical role in reducing bullying. This quantitative study aims to examine the influence of school climate and social support on bullying tendencies among vocational high school students. Using a cross-sectional online survey, 343 students participated as respondents. Multiple regression analysis revealed an F-value of 13.757 with a significance level of 0.000 (<0.05), indicating a significant influence of school climate and social support on bullying tendencies. The findings suggest that despite a generally high level of social support (mean = 34.57, SD = 2.99) and school climate (mean = 37.47, SD = 3.47), some students still experience moderate levels in these variables. Additionally, a notable number of students continue to report high bullying tendencies, highlighting the need for targeted interventions to improve school environments and strengthen social support systems.

Abstract

Early childhood development is a critical period for the formation of basic skills and personality, particularly between the ages of 5-6 years. The use of cassava leaf stalks as a weaving medium is an innovative approach in early childhood education. This study aims to analyze the impact of cassava leaf stalk weaving activities on the fine motor development of children aged 5-6 years at Tamrinussibyan Islamic Kindergarten. This activity was chosen because it enhances hand-eye coordination and provides an enjoyable creative experience. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach, with a population of 14 children aged 5-6 years. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis involved reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. Triangulation was used to ensure data validity and accuracy. The results indicated that weaving activities using cassava leaf stalks significantly improved children's fine motor skills, enabling them to perform complex movements and express creativity. This study recommends integrating weaving activities into early childhood education curricula as an effective method for supporting fine motor development.

Abstract

Language is a fundamental communication tool that enables interaction across various contexts. As a global lingua franca, English can be introduced to children at an early age, including those with special needs. This study explores the effectiveness of a differentiated learning approach in enhancing English vocabulary acquisition among children with special needs. Employing an action research design, the study was conducted in three cycles, each comprising planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through observations and vocabulary tests administered over the three cycles. In the first cycle, visual media such as flashcards were used to introduce vocabulary. The second cycle incorporated auditory learning through songs, while the third cycle integrated audiovisual media in the form of animations. Five early childhood education (ECE) students with special needs participated in the study. Findings revealed that differentiated instruction significantly improved vocabulary acquisition. The students’ average vocabulary test scores increased from 45 in the first cycle to 35 in the second, before reaching 75 in the third cycle. These results highlight the efficacy of differentiated learning strategies in addressing the diverse needs of children with special needs, providing an inclusive and adaptive approach to vocabulary instruction. The study underscores the importance of employing multimodal instructional techniques to enhance language acquisition and suggests that differentiated methods can serve as a valuable pedagogical tool for educators working with special needs learners. Future research may explore long-term retention and the impact of differentiated learning on other language skills.

Abstract

Post-breakup anxiety among adolescents, if not properly addressed, can lead to significant emotional disruption and hinder psychological development. Breakups often trigger a range of negative emotional responses, including sadness, anxiety, and a decline in self-esteem. For adolescents, particularly students, these emotional disturbances may result in diminished concentration, reduced academic performance, and impaired personal growth. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of systematic desensitization techniques in alleviating post-breakup anxiety among high school students. Utilizing a pre-experimental research design with a one-group pre-test and post-test approach, the study involved a population of 128 students from four classes at Intensif Taruna Pembangunan Surabaya Senior High School. From this population, six students who met specific criteria were selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a 36-item breakup anxiety scale based on a 4-point Likert format, administered via Google Forms. Statistical analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test to compare pre- and post-intervention scores. The results indicated a statistically significant reduction in post-breakup anxiety following the intervention, with an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.027 (p < 0.05). These findings suggest that systematic desensitization is an effective therapeutic technique for managing emotional distress related to romantic relationship dissolution in adolescents. The study highlights the importance of incorporating behavioral interventions into school-based counseling services. Future research is recommended to include a broader and more diverse population, such as students from different educational levels and cultural contexts, or to explore the combined efficacy of systematic desensitization with other counseling approaches.
