Abstract

This study explores the historical evolution of Jordan throughout various civilizations, highlighting its role as cultural crossroads and strategic hub in the ancient and modern worlds. From prehistoric settlements to the rise of Canaanite, Nabataean, Roman, Byzantine, and Christian then Islamic civilizations, Jordan has continuously contributed to the shaping of regional identity and heritage. The research utilizes a historical-analytical methodology to trace the development of political, social, and cultural structures on Jordanian soil, emphasizing the continuity and transformation of governance, religious tolerance, and civilizational interaction. The study also sheds light on Jordan’s transition into a modern state under Hashemite leadership, grounded in the principles of the Great Arab Revolt. It underscores the Kingdom's current role in promoting peace, dialogue, and moderate governance in the Middle East. Additionally, the research reflects on the significance of Jordan’s Vision 2025 as a blueprint for national development, citizen empowerment, and sustainable progress. Ultimately, Jordan emerges as a model of continuity between past and present, leveraging its historical legacy to construct a forward-looking national identity rooted in stability, openness, and civilizational depth.

Abstract

The increasing popularity of Korean movies, especially those dubbed in English, has made a significant impact on Filipino television and viewers, particularly among pupils. This study aimed to explore the effects of English-dubbed Korean movies on the viewing comprehension of intermediate pupils. Specifically, it sought to assess the level of viewing comprehension, identify the positive and negative effects of Korean movies, and examine the cultural elements these movies present and their influence on comprehension. The researchers employed a Descriptive-Correlation design which surveyed 20 intermediate pupils who were shown three different genres of English-dubbed Korean movies. Following the screenings, the students completed a movie analysis questionnaire. The data were analyzed using Frequency and Percentages, as well as Chi-Square statistical tests to determine any significant relationships. The findings revealed that the socio-economic profiles of the respondents did not significantly relate to their viewing comprehension levels. Additionally, there was no significant correlation between the movie genres and the pupils' comprehension. The study recommends allowing sufficient time for further testing and suggests utilizing the private high school’s Audio-Visual Room to minimize distractions and enhance the viewing experience. This study contributes to the growing body of literature on media and education by highlighting how popular media, specifically English-dubbed Korean films, can serve as a tool for engaging students in language development and comprehension activities.

Abstract

Black Lives Matter is a significant contemporary issue, particularly in the United States. Its roots trace back to the era of slavery and continue into the present day. Black individuals have long faced systemic violence, sexual assault, racial killings, and various forms of discrimination that have historically marginalized them. These persistent struggles have contributed to the socioeconomic disenfranchisement of Black communities in the United States. The Black Lives Matter movement emerged as a response, advocating for the liberation of Black people from political, social, and economic oppression—both within the U.S. and globally. While previous studies have explored the movement through prose, poetry, drama, and journalism, few have examined its narratives through the lens of stand-up comedy. This study seeks to analyze how Black Lives Matter is represented in stand-up performances as a form of social commentary aimed at promoting the sociopolitical and economic emancipation of Black people in the United States. Recorded performances by African American comedian, Chris Rock, are examined. The analysis applies Schechner’s performance theory to uncover deeper meanings within the performances. Data were interpreted using both performance and literary analysis techniques.

Abstract

The rapid growth of the internet has led to a significant increase in cybercrimes, with women being disproportionately affected. Cyber Violence against Women and Girls (CVAWG) is an increasing concern around the world. Since the age of 15, one in ten women has been the victim of cybercrime. Women in India deal with unique challenges, such as online harassment, stalking, revenge porn, etc. These things have serious effects on their overall health. To find out what causes cybercrime and make the internet safer for women, it is necessary to look at it from a sociological perspective. This means recognising women's freedom and voices online and working to make the internet a more welcoming and empowering place. To effectively address such issues, the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Information Technology (IT) Act need to be made more stringent. In addition, knowing how to use computers and the internet is very important for stopping cybercrimes.

Abstract

This study explores how International Humanitarian Law (IHL), International Human Rights Law (IHRL), and Islamic Law intertwine to shape peacebuilding in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). Drawing on deep-dive interviews with eight influential leaders from state security forces, non-state armed groups, and regional governance bodies, the research uncovers a complex legal landscape where global standards meet deeply rooted faith. The findings reveal that while international frameworks are respected for their operational utility in limiting conflict and building trust, Islamic Law remains the heartbeat of the region’s identity and the primary lens through which justice is understood. This acceptance, however, exists in a delicate balance—it is "identity-driven" yet "conditional," navigating the boundaries of the Philippine Constitution and the practicalities of regional autonomy. On the ground, this manifests in fascinating hybrid systems: non-state actors maintain discipline through religious guidance (Mursidin) and Sharia-based boards, while the regional government champions "Moral Governance" to align state duties with spiritual values. Ultimately, the study highlights that for human rights and humanitarian principles to truly take root, they must be contextualized within local religious and cultural narratives. By recommending the harmonization of these legal systems, the strengthening of Sharia courts, and community-led education, the research argues that the path to sustainable peace and social cohesion in Bangsamoro lies in honoring the resonance between international law and the Islamic faith to protect the dignity of every individual.

Abstract

This study aimed to understand the psychosocial adjustments and academic performance of broken home children in selected secondary schools in Marawi City and the variables influencing these responses. Using a cross-sectional survey and evaluation research design with 151 respondents, data were gathered through a researcher-made questionnaire. Findings showed that respondents often adjusted emotionally (WM=3.04; SD=0.8785) and personally through prayer (WM=2.98; SD=0.9965), while social adjustments were sometimes evident (WM=2.87; SD=1.0412). Academically, respondents always showed motivation in studies (WM=3.30; SD=0.7983), often demonstrated interest in lessons (WM=3.19; SD=0.8463), attended classes regularly (WM=3.27; SD=0.9233), and 45.03% achieved satisfactory CGPA. Psychosocial adjustments were significantly related to academic performance. The study concluded that adolescents can adapt positively despite parental divorce, performing well academically when able to adjust personally, socially, and emotionally. Recommendations include continued parental support, guidance, open communication, and community involvement to help broken home children overcome challenges and succeed academically.

Abstract

This article examines the intricate relationships that exist between Indian national identity and sport, emphasising how widespread participation and sporting accomplishments promote patriotism and a sense of shared national identity. Using a mixed-methods research design and based on Benedict Anderson's theory of "imagined communities", it examines India's sporting development from 1900 to 2025, emphasising the notable increase in Olympic, Commonwealth, and Asian Games medals. Quantitative data supports a 345.7 per cent improvement in Olympic performance after 2000, a growing sports industry projected to reach $130 billion by 2030, and a 23 per cent national sports participation rate. Qualitative insights relate changing manifestations of patriotism to important historical turning points like the hockey golden age and more recent victories like Neeraj Chopra's Olympic gold. According to the findings, sport plays a crucial role in uniting India's diverse population, especially youth involvement, through media representation, shared experiences, and growing economic significance.

Abstract

This paper discusses Jordan national security in the age of uncertainty. It reflects on the concept of national security that has undergone a profound transformation in recent decades, moving beyond its traditional association with military defense and territorial integrity toward a more comprehensive and multidimensional understanding. Jordan’s national security experience illustrates how wise leadership, grounded in legitimacy, pragmatism, and long-term vision, can guide a state toward safety amid uncertainty, making governance itself a core pillar of national security rather than a peripheral factor. This paper analyzes six dimensions: Reconceptualizing security in an era of uncertainty, moving from traditional security to human-centered security, defining types and pillars of national security, in terms of political security, economic security, social security, and highlighting institutional and governance pillars, systemic interaction, based on security, stability, and strategic governance, discussing managing national security under continuous uncertainty, and finally reading in depth national security from both the classical strategic thought and contemporary Jordanian Practice. The study concludes with reframing national security through soft security concerns, reaching key recommendations, such as: Institutionalizing soft security within national security frameworks, strengthening governance and policy coordination mechanisms, prioritizing preventive diplomacy and confidence-building measures, linking economic and social development to security planning, and finally enhancing societal resilience and national cohesion.

Abstract

Rice farming productivity in Kupang Regency remains relatively low and is influenced by social, economic, and institutional factors. This study aims to analyze the effects of farmers’ social and economic characteristics on institutional access, production input use, and rice farming performance using a Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) approach. The research was conducted in Central Kupang District with a sample of 75 rice farmers selected through simple random sampling from three purposively chosen villages. Primary data were collected through structured interviews and analyzed using SmartPLS. The results show that social factors significantly affect production input use and farm performance but do not significantly influence institutional access. Economic factors have a significant effect on production input use and farm performance, while their direct effect on institutional access is not significant. Institutional access significantly affects production input use but has a negative direct effect on farm performance. Production input use is confirmed as the main mediating variable transmitting the effects of social, economic, and institutional factors on farm performance. The structural model demonstrates strong explanatory power with an R² value of 0.856. These findings indicate that improving rice productivity cannot rely solely on strengthening institutional access, but must be accompanied by the effective and efficient use of production inputs. Policy implications emphasize the importance of enhancing farmers’ economic capacity and optimizing input utilization as key strategies to improve rice farming productivity in Kupang Regency.
