It is interested in the study of curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment, as well as economic, cultural and political aspects related to the role of vocational and professional education and training in society.

Abstract

Vocational education policies that are currently being implemented to produce skilled workers in their fields, one of them are, the proportion of Senior High School students: Vocational High School students are 30%: 70%, changes in the number of comparisons have an impact on the needs of the number of teachers, while temporary vocational teachers (productive teachers) in other expertise/specialization programs or other subjects, the number of teachers exceeds the amount that is required. The dual expertise program is a program to provide additional teaching authority for Vocational High School/Senior High School teachers who teach certain subjects to become productive subject teachers in Vocational High Schools in certain skill competencies that are different from previous skills competencies and relevant to their educational background. The objective of this study is to review and describe the implementation of dual expertise policies for Vocational High School teachers and their impact on Demak Regency. The process of preparation, implementation, and results of activities is described so that they can be understood as aspects related to the issues regarding the policy. This research was qualitative research. To get the validity of the data, the researchers used several data validity checking techniques, they were: (1) Technique of checking credibility; (2) Technique of transferability; (3) dependency checking technique. The data analysis used in this study was qualitative descriptive analysis. The result of this study is the impact of implementing dual expertise activities has not been significant towards the fulfillment of  the needs of productive teachers. It is known that the problem is the element of communication, namely the lack of delivery of information from policy actors to the teacher. For other elements such as disposition, resources, and bureaucratic structure, it has been implemented well.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan perangkat pembelajaran mobile learning teknik digital bagi mahasiswa Pendidikan Teknik Elektro, menguji keefektifan dan kepraktisannya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Research and Development. Tahapan proses penelitian ini antara lain: (1) tahap pendahuluan, berupa studi literatur, penelitian pendahuluan tentang penggunaan smartphone, menganalisis silabus, menentukan substansi materi dan obyek pembelajaran; (2) tahap pengembangan, membuat peta program pembelajaran yang diintegrasikan ke mobile learning teknik digital; (3) tahap validasi, dilakukan oleh pakar media dan materi. Setelah memperoleh validasi dengan kriteria yang layak, maka dapat diujikan. Pengujian dilakukan di Jurusan Teknik Elektro Universitas Negeri Semarang dengan melibatkan 10 mahasiswa uji coba kelompok kecil dan 31 mahasiswa uji lapangan. Metode pengumpulan data berupa soal tes dan angket. Hasil uji validasi media sebesar 83,25% (sangat layak), sedangkan validasi materi sebesar 95,5% (sangat layak). Hasil uji coba kelompok kecil diperoleh skor rata-rata pre test 70,0 dan post test 89,0 dengan gain 0,63 (sedang). Hasil uji lapangan diperoleh skor rata-rata pre test 67,9 dan post test 85,2 dengan gain 0,54 (sedang). Hasil uji kepraktisan diperoleh 82,8% yang termasuk dalam kriteria sangat praktis. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pengembangan mobile learning teknik digital ini layak, efektif dan praktis digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran mata kuliah teknik digital. This study aimed to develop learning tools of digital technique mobile learning for Electrical Engineering Education students, to test the effectiveness and practicality. The study used Research and Development method. The steps in conducting this research include: (1) preliminary, by doing literature study, preliminary research on smartphone usage, analyzing syllabus, determining material substance and learning objects; (2) development, by making a map of learning program which was integrated into digital technique mobile learning; (3) validation by media and material experts. After validated, the media could be tested. The test was done at Electrical Engineering Department of Semarang State University involving 10 students of small group test and 31 students of field test. The methods of data collection were tests and questionnaires. The result of material validation was 95.5% (very feasible). The result of small group test obtained pre-test average score of 70.0 and post-test average of 89.0 with gain 0,63 (medium). Field test results obtained pre-test average score of 67.9 and post-test average score of 85.2 with gain 0,54 (medium). Practical test results obtained 82.8% which meant very practical. Thus, it could be concluded that the development of digital technique mobile learning was feasible to be used as learning media.
The Development of Management Model of Maharani Production Unit in Akademi Kesejahteraan Sosial Ibu Kartini Semarang to Improve Competency on Knowledge, Attitude and Skill

Abstract

The problem of managing the Maharani Production Unit is the weakness of the Production Unit management so that the utilization of Production Unit as a means of entrepreneurship training is not optimal. The objective of the study is to produce a valid and effective Production Unit management model. The method used in this study was Research and Development (R D). The production unit management model was a college student-based  management model that did not only involve the college students on services but also on the management so that it can improve college students' competence in the aspects of knowledge, attitude, and skills. The implementation of this model was conducted by holding selection activities for production unit members and training activities before students manage production units. Participants who were interested in developing entrepreneurship skills through the production unit and have passed the selection then they followed the training activities that were conducted in five meetings with 20 participants. The result of management model of the Maharani production unit shows that the model that has been validated by the expert, it shows very valid with the average score of 62.75. In the small trial results also shows that the management model of Maharani production unit is effective, resulting from the paired sample t test with significance of 0.001 0.05 this indicates that the model can improve students’ competence on the student’  knowledge and skills aspects. The results of the training can also be seen from the change of students’ attitude of in entrepreneurship which is scored from the confidence, responsible, leadership spirit, the way of communicating and have passion in seeking business opportunity. Besides, it can be a reference in conducting the production units activities, the developed model can provide experience and entrepreneurship skills for students.

Abstract

Vocational High School (SMK) is an educational institution at the secondary level which aims at preparing students to become competent and independent workforce by prioritizing abilities and skills in certain fields. The selection of appropriate learning media can increase interest in entrepreneurship significantly. The group taught using the developed module on SMAW arc welding showed significant difference compared to the group who did use the module. This study involved eleventh grade students at construction and property business focus in SMK Negeri Jawa Tengah in 2020/2021. This study aims to develop a module for the Shield Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) training by using teaching factory (TEFA) based on Competency - based Training (CBT). This training aims to increase the interest of students in entrepreneurship. The research used ADDIE research and development design. The ADDIE research design consists of five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The unit of analysis of this study is the module for Shield Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) training. Instruments used in research consisted of (1) assessment sheet of the module for Shield Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) training; (2) questionnaire of the practicality of the module for Shield Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) training; and (3) a questionnaire to measure the entrepreneurial interest of eleventh grade students at Property and Construction Business expertise and Mechanical Engineering in SMK Negeri Jawa Tengah. The data analysis used in this study consisted of (1) categorical to determine the feasibility level of the module for Shield Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) training; (2) Guttman categorical to determine the level of practicality level of the module for Shield Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) training, by using the Kr and Ks coefficient; and (3) N-Gain and the t – test for the N-Gain, to determine the effectivity of the on the entrepreneurship interests of students. The test of feasibility, practicality, and the effectivity of the module for Shield Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) training involved lecturers as the media expert, the head of Mechanical Engineering and The Teaching Factory Guide as learning material experts. The tests showed that the learning module was feasible, very practical, and sufficiently effective and could significantly increase the entrepreneurship interests of the eleventh-grade students at SMK N Jateng.

Abstract

The unemployment of vocational high school (SMK) graduates at the moment is ranked at the top of 9.27% of 131.55 million people working force. This is because the limitation of facilities and infrastructures that exist in the practice room in vocational high School (SMK) so that it is the cause of low-power graduates in the workforce.  This research aims to know: (1) The condition of the infrastructure facilities of SMK majoring in beauty department in the district of Jepara, (2) the level of conformity of infrastructure to the minimum standard Permendiknas number 40 year 2008, and (3) the adequacy of the infrastructure to the requirements of the curriculum. This research is an evaluation study with a discrepansi evaluation model. The approach used is a quantitative descriptive with percentage analysis. Data collection techniques using interview analysis, documents and observations. The analytical techniques used are descriptive statistics. The results showed that: (1) condition of facilities and infrastructures of vocational space competency of beauty department in Jepara District 50.6% with sufficient criteria decent. (2) The level of conformity of facilities and infrastructures of the practice room of 56.2% with adequate criteria appropriate (3) the adequacy of the facility of the practice room infrastructure to the needs of curriculum 45.11% with sufficient criteria meet.
Development of Patisserie Gastronomy Expertise Competency Test Model in Teacher Professional Education of Vocational High School Culinary Program

Abstract

The objectives of this study are to (1) produce the development of a competency test model of Patisserie Gastronomy Expertise in the Teacher Professional Education of the Gastronomy Program (Patisserie Gastronomy Expertise Competency Test Model); (2) analyze the instruments (modules and manuals) and (3) evaluate the model so that it meets the criteria for effective, practical, and well implemented. The method used in this research was Research and Development (RD). The data source came from interviews and questionnaires towards 20 respondents consisting of 5 vocational school teachers of culinary skills competency, patisserie expertise, 5 gastronomy lecturers of UNNES, and 10 executive chef practitioners from Business and Industrial World). The results of the development of the competency test model of Patisserie Gastronomy Expertise Competency in the Teacher Professional Education of vocational culinary program (the Patisserie Gastronomy Expertise Competency Test Model) is a model guide book consisting (a) supporting theory; (b) The purpose of developing the model; (c) Tiered qualifications; (d) The structure and contents of the Patisserie Gastronomy Expertise Competency test model components; (e) Competency Standards and Basic Competencies  of the Patisserie Gastronomy Expertise Competency Testing Model; (f) The Patisserie Gastronomy Expertise Competency test model approach; (g) Learning/training strategies and methods; (h) Guidelines for valuation; (i) Stages of processing; (j) Time of evaluation; (k) Assessment rubric; (l) Closing. While the competency test sets are: (a) Learning/training modules and tests with good criteria (3.69) and (b) sheets and ability and the rubric of assessment (justification) of training/test with good criteria (3.62).

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi dan informasi akan berdampak pada sendi sendi kehidupan manusia. Manusia membutuhkan kecakapan sesuai perkembangan jaman dan kemampuan untuk meminimalisasikan resiko akibat  teknologi seperti pergeseran nilai karakter dan kerusakan lingkungan. Pendidikan menjadi garda terdepan dalam mewujudkan hal tersebut. Dibutuhkan pola pembelajaran yang menyeimbangkan pendidikan soft skill, hard skill dan environment skill dalam satu kesatuan. Penelitian ini yang dilakukan bertujuan untuk menghasilkan desain model pembelajaran SHESIL yaitu pembelajaran yang mengintegrasikan soft skill, hard skill dan environment skill dalam satu kesatuan. Berdasarkan uji validitas ahli, model pembelajaran SHESIL memiliki tingkat kevalidan yang baik dan layak digunakan.  Efektifitas model dapat dilihat pada uji coba lapangan. Hasil data lapangan menunjukan ada peningkatan pada penilaian soft skill, hard skill dan environment skill. Penilaian keseluruhan aspek dari soft skill, hard skill dan environment skill terhadap peningkatan kecakapan otomotif menunjukan ( t hitung 10,58 t tabel - 1,64) sehingga disimpulkan model pembelajaran SHESIL efektif meningkatkan kecakapan otomotif siswa SMK. Penerapan model pembelajaran SHESIL menjadi alternatif pilihan dalam membantu guru untuk menanamkan pendidikan soft skill dan kesadaran lingkungan sesuai tujuan pendidikan nasional. The development of technology and information will affect to the principal of human life. Humans need skills based on the development of time and ability to minimize risks caused by technology such as shifting character values and environmental damage. Education becomes foremost guard in creating it. We need  learning model which balances soft skill, hard skill and environment skill in a single entity. The purpose of this research is to produce SHESIL learning model that is the application of learning to integrate soft skill, hard skill and environment skill in one unit. Based on validity test done by the expert,  SHESIL learning model has a feasible and fair validity to be used. The effectiveness of the model can be on field experiment. The result of field data showed that there was a soft skill improvement, environmental skill improvement  and t count 31,46 and hard skill improvement. The whole assessment of soft skill, hard skill and environment skill to the improvement of automotive skill showed t count bigger than t table (10,58 - 1,64) so we can that conclude that SHESIL learning model can improve the automotive skill of vocational students effectively. Application of SHESIL learning model is becomes an alternative choice to assist teachers in realizing soft skill education and environmental sensitivity matching to goals of national education.
The Influence of Young Entrepreneur School (YES) Training Model on Knowledge, Attitude and Employee Skills Competence

Abstract

Vocational High School (SMK) be expected to decrease the number of unemployment in Indonesia, not only as a job seeker but also as a job field creator (entrepreneur). The aims of the research are to produce a model of entrepreneurship training and to examine increasing of entrepreneur competence of Vocational High School students after using the model. The study used research and development (R D) method, with four steps (1) defining and designing models; (2) doing validation by an expert; (3) doing a limited trial; (4) examining influence of model and getting final result of model. The results of research shown that the model of the Young Entrepreneur School (YES) training which is contained of Problem Base Learning elements, Vocational Education Concept, Associate by Technical Assistance and Knowledge, skills and attitudes assessment. Increased knowledge competence by 12%, attitude competence 60% and skill competency 58%. The important of finding model in training model of electronic services, where the students practiced the technical and management of entrepreneur. The benefit of this research in science and society was being a reference in giving entrepreneur training for students of Vocational High School. Thought this research was expected that could be reduce the number of unemployment for graduating of Vocational High School.

Abstract

Professional Certification Institution (LSP) as an organ or body that organizes professional trials. Implementation of web-based information systems (online) Professional certification institutions assist management in organizing data, scheduling, detecting assessors' expiration, and providing information to LSP assessors. The purpose of this study is to build an information system for Professional Certification Institutions to facilitate the Batik LSP process also helps in getting faster and more accurate data from the process. The method used in this research is research and development (research and development) with the 4D model, namely Define, Design, Develop, and Dissemination. In the initial stage "Define", analysis and analysis of needs at the batik certification body. In the "Design" stage, an application design is carried out, including database design, interface, and system flow. The "Development" stage is carried out from the development application which consists of: (1) Pre-Alpha; (2) Alpha; (3) Beta; (4) Releasese Candidate; and (5) Release. Whereas the "Dissemination" is a development where the product is tested to the user to find out the usefulness in assisting the testing process in the Batik Certification Institute. From the results of the questionnaire and the blackbox test, it was found that the information system had fulfilled the requirements and was suitable for use by the blackbox users that had been done.
Pengembangan Media Informasi Pravokasional SMK bagi Siswa SMP di Kota Gorontalo

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu menghasilkan produk media informasi pravokasional untuk siswa SMP, mengetahui kevalidan media informasi pravokasional dalam memberikan pengetahuan dan pemahaman kepada siswa SMP serta mengetahui kepraktisan penerapan media informasi pravokasional dalam memberikan pengetahuan dan pemahaman pada siswa SMP untuk melanjutkan studi ke SMK. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu Research and Development. Hasil penelitian ini menjelaskan dengan jenis media informasi berbasis WEB dapat diakses dengan mudah oleh pengguna yaitu siswa SMP. Hasil validasi materi dan validasi media dari masing-masing pakar menyebutkan persentase kevalidan materi sebesar 77% dan persentase kevalidan media sebesar 82%. Ini menyimpulkan bahwa pengembangan media informasi pravokasional “Sangat Valid”. Kepraktisan dari produk ini sebesar 34,5 dan memiliki kriteria sangat baik. Simpulan dari penelitian ini adalah media informasi pravokasional yang dikembangkan dinyatakan valid dan layak menurut penilaian pakar. Media informasi pravokasional untuk siswa SMP yang dikembangkan memiliki nilai keefektifan dan kepraktisan yang tinggi, karena media tersebut dapat membantu siswa dalam memahami dan mengetahui program studi SMK secara mandiri. The purpose of this study was to produced pre-vocational information media product for junior high school students, to found out pre-vocational information media in giving understanding and knowledge for junior high school students, and also to find out in applying pre-vocational information media in giving understanding and knowledge for junior high school to continue their study at vocational school. Research and development method was used in this study. The result of this study explained the kinds of WEB based information media. Which could be accessed easily by junior high school students. The percentage of material and media validity from the expert was 77% and the percentage of media validity was 82%. It could be summarized that pe-vocational media information was very valid. Practically of this product was 34,5 and had good criteria. The result of this pre-vocational information media study which could be developed was valid and suitable based on expert opinion. Pre-vocational information media for junior high school students had practically and effectively higher value, because that media could help the student in understanding the study program at vocational school by them selves.
