The journal embraces the broad range of settings and ways in which vocational and professional learning takes place and, hence, is not restricted by institutional boundaries or structures in relation to national systems of education and training. It is interested in the study of curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment, as well as economic, cultural and political aspects related to the role of vocational and professional education and training in society.

Abstract

Learning activities are a system that is deliberately planned with the modification of various conditions that are directed so that the objectives contained in the curriculum can be achieved, in the implementation of the learning process in Vocational High Schools (SMK) there are many problems that arise from various factors supporting the learning process starting from students as students, teachers as educators, methods as a means of delivering the subject matter, learning support facilities and school policies that can affect the smoothness of the learning process. Selection of the right learning media can improve learning outcomes as well as the elaboration of new habits by developing soft skills of students themselves by using e-modules for class XII TKRO 4 and those who do not use e-module XII TBSM 2 at SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Kuningan for the academic year 2020/ 2021. The purpose of this research is to develop an E-Module on Industrial Culture Materials with a Problem Base Learning learning model to improve students' soft skills. This study uses research and development or R and D methods. The design chosen is ADDIE, which includes five stages, namely Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The research uses various instruments, namely (1) a feasibility assessment sheet for e-modules; (2) e-module practicality questionnaire; and (3) a questionnaire on the effectiveness of the e-module to measure the soft skills of class XII TKRO 4 and XII TBSM 2 students at SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Kuningan. The data analysis used is (1) categorical to determine the feasibility level of the e-module; (2) Guttman's categorization to determine the level of practicality of e-modules, using the coefficients Kr and Ks; and (3) N-Gain and different N-Gain tests using t-test, to determine the effectiveness of the e-module on student learning outcomes. Based on the feasibility test, practicality test, and the effectiveness test of the e-module, the industrial culture material developed, according to the responses of media experts and material experts, obtained the criteria for a very feasible e-module response. Responses from teachers and students as user responses to the practicality test of the e-module obtained very practical assessment criteria. And from the effectiveness test in the experimental class, the e-module obtained effective and significant criteria for improving the soft skills of class XII TKRO 4 and XII TBSM 2 students at SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Kuningan.

Abstract

Entrepreneurship program of Vocational High School (SMK) Ibu Kartini Semarang consisted of Business Centre, School of Entrepreneur, and Production unit. The implementation of the production unit faced several problems such as students’ lack of motivation in conducting industrial apprentice even though it has been scheduled in the timeline. There were gaps between industrial need and students’ output based on their specialization so that improving production units in school was crucial. This research was qualitative research that focused on evaluating the production unit program in SMK Ibu Kartini Semarang. The participants of the current study were principals, production unit staff, teachers, and production unit partners. The questionnaires, observation, and interviews were applied to gain the data. The analysis data used descriptive qualitative method with evaluation model such as context, input, process, product (CIPP). Furthermore, it was evaluated by the Glickman quadrant. The result showed that the production unit of SMK Ibu Kartini Semarang was “not effective” (++--) and the T score achieved 50 so that the improvement was needed.

Abstract

There was a technology gap between industry and vocational schools. The school curricula were not following industrial needs and the educators were lack of mastery of the latest technologies according to current industry needs. The study evaluated Mitsubishi's industrial class process on students, supervisors, business, and the industrial world (DU/DI). This research applied evaluation research with a descriptive quantitative approach. The students of XII Light Automotive Vehicle who participated in the Mitsubishi industrial class of SMK Bina Utama Kendal became the participants in this research. The research subject consisted of 34 students, ten industrial teachers, and two teachers from Mitsubishi. Then, the data instruments technique applied observation, questionnaires, and documentation. The validity test adopted Product-Moment, while the reliability test used Cronbach-Alpha. The data analysis technique applied a descriptive statistical test. The result showed Mitsubishi's industrial class process toward students was sufficient, while teachers and DU/DI were declared very high.

Abstract

A Vocational High School (VHS) is an institution that aims to prepare students to be ready for work. Therefore, the graduates must have employability skills. The purpose of this research was to find out the effectiveness of applying steamPjBL approach-based employability skill modules to Computer and Network Engineering (CNE) skills competencies. This research took a sample of 36 students of class X majoring in CNE at Ngraho Public VHS. This research and development employed the ADDIE model, which consists of five stages: (1) Analysis; (2) Design; (3) Development; (4) Implementation; and (5) Evaluation. The research stages included conducting observations, validating research instruments by experts, and conducting trials by distributing pretest and posttest questionnaires to experimental and control classes to find out any different learning outcomes. The analysis technique was carried out using the IBM SPSS Statistics 25. The results of the feasibility test showed that the module was very suitable for use and was considered valid with revisions; the results of the practicality test showed that the modules were very practical; and the results of the effectiveness test showed that the modules were quite effective to be used to train cooperation, communication, problem-solving, and adaptability skills

Abstract

This research was carried out based on the results of observations in the vocational theory learning process, there were several obstacles faced, There are several obstacles, namely, 1) the methods used are lectures and discussions that are less than optimal; 2) students are less enthusiastic in learning the material because the media used by the teacher is in the form of power points and softfile modules; 3) It is not possible to use power point media and module softfiles to operate randomly and freely in adjusting the selection of the material pages you want to learn. The research objectives of this research are (1) develop Adobe Flash CS6-based learning media in Vocational Theory subjects,(2) analyze the feasibility and practicality of learning media,(3) analyze the effectiveness of using learning media. Research on the development of learning media based on Adobe Flash CS 6 using the ADDIE development model. The data collection tool for the feasibility of learning media uses media experts. Media practicality data using assessment questionnaires by teachers and students. In the results of this study, Adobe Flash CS 6 can be integrated with server side scripting such as CGI, ASP and PHP to create beautiful database web applications. In addition, it can also be used to make short films or cartoons, presentations, advertisements or web banners, logo animations.

Abstract

Learning modern hair bun styling is quite challenging for Cosmetology students, so it is necessary to use an Android smartphone to facilitate their understanding, creativity, and imagination in order to style the hair buns according to the theme. The limited reference books and modules, as well as the lack of modern hair bun learning media, cause the students' low understanding of this course. It is contrary to the condition of the Cosmetology students of at Vocational High School who must be creative and imaginative during the learning process. The problems that want to be revealed are 1) How is the use of Android smartphone on Modern Hair Bun course? and 2) How is the effectiveness of Android smartphone on Modern Hair Bun course to increase students' creativity? The purpose of this Community Service at Vocational High School in the field of Cosmetology by using Android smartphone is to increase the students’ creativity in learning modern hair bun styling. The method used is Research and Development oriented to product development in Community Service for the students of Cosmetology Department State Vocational High School 8 Surabaya. Based on the validation results from the learning media experts, it was found that the use of Android smartphone in learning Modern Hair Bun Course showed significant results in increasing the Cosmetology students’ creativity.

Abstract

In Indonesia vocational high school (SMK) becomes one of the education levels that need to be developed. State vocational high school 1 Blora is a formal education that has many major competencies, one of them is geomatics engineering. Geomatics engineering is a major that carries out a series of learning activities covering various engineering subjects. In this field, the Basic Drawing of Software becomes crucial since it supports related subjects. E-module becomes one of the important requirements in the competency approach. These research aims are 1) developing the Autocad e-module; 2) Analyzing the worthiness e-module in Autocad; 3) Analyzing the practicality of the Autocad e-module to improve students’ competency in Basic Drawing of Software for Geomatics students. The current research applied Research and Development (RD) while feasibility and practicality validation analysis used intra-class correlation coefficients in SPSS v.25. The result of the study showed that an e-module with a blog based on the basic drawing was exclaimed very worthy based on material expert judgment with a 85,45 score. It is in line with the media expert who got a 86,43 score. The simplicity of the e-module was examined by geomatics engineering teachers and it achieved a 88,08 score. It can be concluded that this research is very worthy, simple, and very effective to improve geomatics students’ skills in Basic Drawing of Software.

Abstract

Vocational high school is an educational institution that aimed to create graduates who have good quality and competence in a certain field. The students need to be provided career insight from the beginning of entering the school. The vocational guidance module is crucial for the students. The research study consisted of 1) How is the development of vocational career guidance in the food serving process improve the career decision-making ability of vocational high school students? 2) What is the feasibility of the module? 3) how is the practicality of the module? 4) how is the effectiveness of the module?. This research applied Research and Development method (RD). The present study used the ADDIE model consisting of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The research analysis unit was a vocational career guidance module on the food serving process. This research used some instruments to gain the data: 1) assessment sheets of vocational career guidance modules; 2) questionnaires on the practicality of modules, and (3) questionnaires to measure student career decision making. The validity of the assessment sheet is obtained from the calculation of the CVR and its reliability using the ICC formula. The questionnaire validity applied point biserial, while the reliability questionnaire used KR20 formulas. The result of the feasibility test, practicality test, and effectivity test based on media and material experts of the developed module was feasible. Furthermore, the user product like teachers and students stated that the module was very practical, quite effective, and significant to improve the career decision making of vocational high school (SMK) Culinary Art.

Abstract

At present and in the future, the existence of a universty, beside fill in to the predetermined conditions is also assessed by how much graduates enter the world of work. Therefore, universities must accommodate themselves. The important unit of a university is a department, including the Department of Civil Engineering, in Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES). Industry-oriented learning enhancement, one of which is the assessment of learning outcomes for subjects must also be developed. This study develop an instrument for assessing learning outcomes in the K3/OSH subject in the Civil Engineering Department of UNNES. The existing learning outcome instruments need to be more developed so that they are not too theoretically  but more industry-oriented, in the realms of knowledge, attitudes, and psychomotor. Continuous improvement needs to be done because the material learning that must be adapted  to the industry that always evolving. Apart from the above, UNNES also has a vision of conservation with environmental preservation as one of its focus. Conservation values  must  also  be  included in the instrument. The next issue  is corona pandemic. Students  must be assessed  in knoweldge of  work in pandemic eventhough he or she know from out of class. Through the development of these instruments, it was hoped that the Civil Engineering Department of UNNES can play a more  real role in both the world of education and the world of work (construction).
Conservation - Minded Behavior of the Field Practice Participants on Automotive Engineering Education Program

Abstract

Conservation – Minded   Behavior  of   Field  Practice Participant On Automotive Engineering Education Program. This study was aimed at figuring out: 1) conservation – minded behavior, 2) knowledge conservation, 3) achievement motivation, and 4) the support of conservation knowledge and achievement motivation simultaneously or independently to the conservation – minded behaviour of the field practice participants on automotive engineering education program, Engineering Faculty. This study was conducted in Mechanical Engineering Department, Engineering Faculty, UNNES and industry in Semarang in the year of 2017. 33 students were involved as the samples of this study. The conservation – minded behavior data were gathered using observation sheet, conservation knowledge data by test and achievement motivation data were gathered using questionnaire. The data were then analysed using descriptive statistics,   multi regression    and    communality. The descriptive analysis showed that: conservation-minded behaviour of the field practice participants was mostly high, the conservation knowledge was mostly low and achievement motivation was mostly high. The multi regression analysis showed that the knowledge conservation and achievement motivation contributed 35.4% to the conservation – minded behavior. The communality analysis showed that conservation knowledge of the field practice participants contributed 15% to the conservation – minded behavior, and achievement motivation distributed 17.8% to the conservation – minded behaviour. The suggestion from this study was that the automotive engineering education should make an effort to improve the conservation – minded knowledge.
