Abstract

This research undertakes a comprehensive examination of seasonality in Uzbekistan's tourism services market, with the ultimate goal of devising strategies to mitigate its adverse effects. Utilizing methods such as logical reasoning, deductive analysis, and statistical as well as economic analyses, the study explores various factors influencing seasonality in tourism. These factors include natural-climatic conditions, economic solvency, social timing, demographic demand, psychological elements, logistics development, and service quality. The analysis categorizes these variables into primary (natural-climatic) and secondary (all remaining) influences. Our results indicate that 94.9% of foreign tourists to Uzbekistan in the first quarter of 2022 were from CIS countries, reflecting a marked decrease in tourist arrivals, particularly from non-CIS countries, attributable to pandemic-induced flight restrictions and quarantine measures. This downturn underscores the urgency for strategic interventions to minimize seasonality's negative impact on Uzbekistan's tourism economy, thereby improving the country's tourism sector's resilience against external shocks. Highlights: Seasonality in tourism is driven by diverse factors, both primary and secondary. Pandemic-led measures triggered an 80.3% plunge in Uzbekistan's foreign tourist arrivals in Q1 2021. Strategic actions to minimize seasonality's impact can boost the resilience of Uzbekistan's tourism sector. Keywords: Seasonality, Uzbekistan, Tourism Sector, Mitigation Strategies, Pandemic Impact.

Abstract

This study assesses the implementation of a community-led tourism exploration and beach cleaning initiative in Negeri Ureng, Central Maluku, particularly in Island 3 Nusa Ela. Our goal was twofold: firstly, to explore and identify new tourism sites and, secondly, to foster a greater understanding and action towards coastal waste management. The adopted method incorporated community engagement, direct observation, and active participation in waste cleanup activities. Findings highlighted picturesque sites around Island 3 Nusa Ela, such as the vicinity near the villa at the island's end, and a unique fresh water source in a large cave. However, the cleanup activities revealed a significant amount of poorly managed waste, predominantly plastic, along the coastline, thus necessitating immediate waste management strategies. As a result, signage was installed to educate both locals and visitors about the adverse impacts of improper waste disposal on the ecosystem and coastal aesthetics. The study underscores the vital role of community involvement in preserving and enhancing coastal areas while showcasing its potential for sustainable tourism. This initiative bears significant implications for other coastal communities worldwide striving to strike a balance between tourism development and environmental conservation.Highlights: Tourism Locations: The study identified scenic tourism sites in Island 3 Nusa Ela. Waste Management: The cleanup revealed significant plastic waste along the coastline, necessitating immediate intervention. Environmental Education: Signage was used to educate locals and visitors on the importance of proper waste disposal. Keywords: Coastal Tourism, Waste Management, Negeri Ureng, Community Initiative, Environmental Preservation.

Abstract

This study aimed to promote literacy skills and creative thinking among elementary school students (SD Negeri 170, 36, and 336) in Assilulu, Maluku Tengah, through a workshop developing a 'Literacy Tree', a two-dimensional paper-based learning media. The low reading interest among Indonesians, with only 0.001 percent reading regularly according to UNESCO, highlighted the urgency of our intervention. Our methodology comprised imparting knowledge about creating a 'Literacy Tree', stimulating creativity, fostering aspirations, and enhancing mental, intellectual, and emotional spirit, thus simplifying the comprehension of complex materials for students. Results indicated that the workshop significantly engaged students, enhancing their creativity and understanding of knowledge. Therefore, we advocate for the 'Literacy Tree' workshop's incorporation into the curriculum, emphasizing its potential to foster creativity and boost literacy skills in a fun and engaging manner, and encourage further research on its long-term impacts and scalability in other educational contexts. This innovative approach has implications for Indonesia's literacy enhancement strategies and could potentially be applied globally to address similar educational challenges.Highlights: Literacy Tree fosters literacy and creativity. Our method simplifies complex materials. Workshops enhance literacy strategies worldwide. Abstract

This study focuses on the escalating issue of narcotics misuse and its deleterious effects on health, families, and society, emphasizing the role of preventive socialization in addressing this crisis. Utilizing a community-based approach, Leihitu District KKN students implemented a "Drug Prevention Socialization" program, targeted at thirty local youths in Ureng Country. The objectives of this initiative were to enhance knowledge about the perils of drug addiction, foster resilience against drug involvement, and instigate motivation for drug prevention among these individuals. Through interactive counseling sessions, the program disseminated crucial information about the legal, health, and societal repercussions of narcotics abuse. Post-program assessments revealed a significant improvement in participants' understanding of drug misuse consequences and strategies to resist involvement. Thus, this study underscores the effectiveness of community-based drug prevention socialization in fostering informed and resistant youth populations, thereby contributing to wider efforts to combat the narcotics crisis.Highlights: Successful execution of the "Drug Prevention Socialization" program. Abstract

This study aimed to address challenges in coconut cultivation and enhance productivity in Nusa Ela Village, Negeri Ureng, through the implementation of a hybrid coconut cultivation method. Coconut (Cocos nucifera L.), a crucial tropical plant, demonstrates tremendous adaptability to various climatic and soil conditions. Despite Indonesia being the world's leading coconut producer, there exist significant issues affecting productivity, ranging from pests to socio-economic factors. To ameliorate these issues, our approach utilized superior varieties, specifically hybrid coconuts, known for their high adaptability and productivity. The hybrid coconut, a cross between dwarf and tall varieties, showed promising characteristics such as high oil content and the ability to produce approximately 140 fruits per tree annually, thus making it a potential solution for enhancing coconut productivity. The community service initiative involved conducting a hybrid coconut cultivation training program for the local farmers. The practical involvement of the community, coupled with continuous education and promotion of innovative and creative practices, manifested promising results. This approach could serve as a sustainable strategy to enhance coconut productivity and foster economic growth within the community, thereby contributing to the broader agro-industry field. The results of this study underscore the potential of hybrid coconut cultivation as a solution for the low productivity challenge in coconut farming, with implications for other tropical regions facing similar issues.Highlights: Hybrid coconuts boost productivity in tropical farming. Practical cultivation training empowers local communities. Innovative practices promote sustainable agro-industry. Abstract

This study aims to cultivate social responsibility among undergraduates of Pattimura University, Ambon, through the development of a Public Facility Navigation Map for Assilulu, a community in the Maluku Tengah district. Leveraging geographic information system (GIS) software, ArcGIS, the initiative gathered geospatial data through site surveys to obtain coordinates of key public infrastructure. This data was subsequently documented, tested for accuracy using Google Earth, and analyzed using ArcGIS 10.7. The resulting map was printed as banners and strategically placed at community entry points. This project contributes significantly to facilitating easier navigation for newcomers to the community, enabling them to locate important facilities such as government, religious, educational, and healthcare institutions, and tourism sites more efficiently. However, the project acknowledges room for further refinement, such as including additional facilities like agricultural, marine, and market infrastructures, recommending these as directions for future work in improving community navigability and land use planning in Assilulu.Highlights: Fostering social responsibility via practical community projects. Effective use of ArcGIS and Google Earth for navigation map creation. Identified potential for future map improvements and land use planning.
