Abstract

Early childhood is a crucial period for the formation of cognitive functions and basic character traits that influence long-term learning processes. In the context of Islamic education, the approach of learning based on Islamic values through play activities has rarely been studied conceptually to support cognitive stimulation in early childhood. There is a lack of literature discussing the systematic integration of Islamic values and play strategies within the framework of early childhood cognitive development. This study employs a conceptual literature review method with a descriptive-qualitative approach toward 38 relevant and curated scientific sources. The results of the study indicate that Islamic play activities such as role-playing stories of the prophets, worship simulations, and riddles based on moral values are able to stimulate children's thinking in a reflective and analytical manner. In addition, Islamic-based play learning provides meaningful learning experiences because it integrates symbolic, affective, and spiritual elements in an integrated manner. The conceptual model developed in this study demonstrates a functional relationship between the form of Islamic games, the Islamic values they contain, and the cognitive functions they stimulate. This research contributes theoretically to the development of an Islamic educational approach for early childhood and offers a practical framework for curriculum designers and educators in developing strategies that are contextual, spiritual, and cognitive simultaneously.

Abstract

The rapid development of the digital era and the emergence of the Industrial Revolution 5.0 require Generation Z to possess not only technological competence (hard skills) but also strong soft skills intelligence, including communication, collaboration, leadership, empathy, and adaptability. This study aims to analyze the role of soft skills intelligence in enhancing future success among Generation Z and to identify educational strategies for its development based on Islamic values. This research employed a qualitative library research design, utilizing secondary data sources such as peer-reviewed journal articles, academic books, policy documents, and classical as well as contemporary Islamic education literature. Data were analyzed through thematic content analysis focusing on the conceptual relationship between soft skills intelligence, emotional intelligence, and Islamic educational principles. The findings indicate that soft skills intelligence functions as a critical determinant of Generation Z’s future success, particularly in strengthening emotional regulation, ethical decision-making, leadership capacity, and adaptability in digital-social environments. Furthermore, the study reveals that the integration of Islamic values—such as akhlaq al-karimah, uswah hasanah, tazkiyatun nafs, and social responsibility—significantly enhances the effectiveness of soft skills development, distinguishing it from purely secular competency frameworks. This study contributes uniquely by offering an integrative conceptual model of soft skills intelligence grounded in Islamic educational values, providing a value-based framework for educators and policymakers to design holistic learning environments that respond to the socio-emotional challenges faced by Generation Z in the digital era.

Abstract

Religious education plays a strategic role in instilling the value of Belief in One God as the embodiment of the first principle of Pancasila. However, the development of digital technology poses new challenges to the process of internalising religious values, especially among children. This study aims to analyse the role of the family, community, and educational institutions in implementing the value of Belief in One God in the digital era. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, including data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study show that: (1) children's participation in religious educational institutions is still ongoing, but has undergone changes due to the increasing use of digital technology; (2) the role of society and parents in guiding children against the influence of social media greatly determines children's religious behaviour patterns; (3) the level of formal education of parents is not always directly proportional to the quality of religious education in the family, because busy work schedules often reduce the intensity of interaction with children. Therefore, it is necessary to revitalise religious education based on Pancasila values through collaboration between families, schools, and communities. The implementation of the value of Belief in One God needs to be realised not only through ritual activities but also through role modelling, positive habits, and the use of educational technology relevant to the character of the digital generation. The instilling of these values is an important foundation in shaping the character of Pancasila students who are faithful, devoted to God Almighty, and have noble character.

Abstract

Intracurricular Arabic language learning in madrasas/pesantren often faces time constraints for rule reinforcement and intensive practice, necessitating a co-curricular program that can expand learning opportunities in a targeted manner. This study aims to analyze the relationship between student participation in the Al-Miftah Lil 'Ulum extracurricular activities which strengthens the foundations of nahwu–sharaf through structured materials (e.g., nadzam, color-coded tables, staged exercises) to accelerate morphological–syntactic analysis and text comprehension and academic achievement in the intrakurricular Arabic language. The research uses a quantitative approach with a correlational design. A sample of 32 students who actively participated in Al-Miftah Lil 'Ulum volume 2 and had Arabic language grade documents from the last semester was selected thru purposive sampling. Participation data was collected using a closed questionnaire with a 4-point Likert scale that had been expert-reviewed and item-validated, while achievement data was obtained thru report card documentation. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics and the Spearman Rank correlation test at a significance level of 5%. The research results showed a very strong positive relationship between participation and achievement (ρ = 0.885; N = 32). The significance test for the correlation using the t-test yielded t_calculated = 10.42 (df = 30) and t_table = 2.042 (α = 0.05), thus t_calculated > t_table and the correlation was declared significant (p < 0.05). Thus, H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, which means there is a significant relationship between Al-Miftah Lil 'Ulum extracurricular participation and intrakurricular Arabic achievement.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of educational historical methodology in reconstructing Islamic education narratives in a more objective and contextually grounded manner. While Islamic educational historiography has often been shaped by normative and descriptive approaches, this research argues that a systematic historical-critical framework is necessary to ensure analytical rigor and epistemological transparency. Employing qualitative library research, the study applies classical stages of historical inquiry heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiographical synthesis combined with hermeneutical and discourse-oriented analysis. The findings reveal that Islamic education constitutes a dynamic historical construction shaped by the interaction of text, authority, institutions, and socio-political transformation. Core elements such as ‘ilm, ulama authority, transmission networks, and the institutionalization of madrasah and pesantren developed through processes of negotiation and adaptation rather than linear progression. By critically verifying sources and situating concepts within their historical horizons, the integrated methodology minimizes ideological bias and avoids normative reductionism. The originality of this study lies in its systematic synthesis of historical criticism, hermeneutics, and discourse analysis into a unified methodological framework for Islamic educational historiography. The research contributes theoretically by strengthening methodological discourse in Islamic education studies and practically by providing a reflective foundation for context-sensitive educational reform in contemporary Muslim societies.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of varying instructions in Arabic language learning on improving students' writing skills. Using a quasi-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design, this study involved 30 madrasah diniyah students in Hidayatun Nasyi'in Islamic boarding school. The research instruments consisted of a questionnaire containing 20 items and a writing skills test covering pretest and posttest. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics, Shapiro-Wilk and Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality tests, and paired T-tests. The results showed a significant increase between the pretest (Mean=69.47, SD=10.28) and posttest (Mean=84.33, SD=8.37) scores with a t(29) = -10.631 and p = 0.000, and all instruments were proven to be valid (r > 0.361, p < 0.05) with a Cronbach's Alpha reliability coefficient of 0.744. These findings underscore the effectiveness of the differentiated approach in teaching Arabic writing tailored to students' ability levels, as well as the relevance of cognitive load theory in the teaching context. This study recommends the application of varied instruction to increase student engagement and understanding in the Arabic language learning process.

Abstract

This study addresses the limited integration between formal Islamic education (madrasah) and pesantren in shaping students’ religious character, which remains insufficiently explored in the sociology of Islamic education. Existing studies tend to examine these institutions separately, with little attention to how their collaboration contributes to the formation of religious habitus through sustained social processes. This research aims to analyze how madrasah–pesantren collaboration facilitates the formation of students’ religious habitus. A qualitative case study was conducted at MTs Al-Ma’arif Rakit, involving its partnership with two Islamic boarding schools. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis, and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The findings indicate that collaboration between madrasah and pesantren creates an integrated social education system in which religious values are internalized through habituation, role modeling, and continuous social interaction. The formation of religious character operates across three interconnected dimensions: collective moral consciousness (Durkheim), habitus formation and reproduction (Bourdieu), and social self-construction (Mead). Notably, the study finds that religious habitus is reproduced not only among boarding students but also among non-residential students through shared social environments. This study contributes theoretically by extending the concept of religious habitus within a collaborative educational context, and practically by proposing a madrasah–pesantren model for integrative Islamic character education.

Abstract

The use of interactive digital media in physics learning remains limited, and the integration of local wisdom into science education is often overlooked, resulting in less contextual and engaging learning experiences for students. This study aims to develop and determine the validity of an Augmented Reality (AR)-based electronic student worksheet (E-LKPD) integrated with local wisdom on thermodynamics, specifically the evaporation topic for grade XI high school students. This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, focusing on the development and evaluation stages. Product validation involved four validators consisting of two physics education lecturers and two experienced high school physics teachers. The validation instrument assessed interface design, interactivity, visual presentation, AR technology stability, media integration, and digital format consistency. Data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative techniques through percentage calculations to determine the validity level. The results indicate that the developed AR-based E-LKPD achieved a highly valid category, exceeding the established feasibility criteria. The integration of AR technology enables interactive visualization of thermodynamics concepts, while the incorporation of local wisdom provides contextual learning experiences for students. Therefore, the developed E-LKPD is feasible as an innovative digital learning medium to support more engaging and meaningful physics learning.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of transformational leadership and the Asah Asih Asuh pattern of the school principal on teachers’ professional competence at SMA Negeri 1 Singkep. The Asah Asih Asuh pattern emphasizes intellectual stimulation (asah), affective care (asih), and nurturing guidance (asuh) as the pillars of transformational leadership practiced by the school principal in fostering teacher professionalism. This research employs a quantitative approach with a descriptive-verificative design. The population consists of all teachers at SMA Negeri 1 Singkep, totaling 32 individuals, who were all selected as the research sample (total sampling). Data were collected through questionnaires developed based on indicators of transformational leadership, Asah Asih Asuh values, and teacher professional competence. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis to determine the extent of influence between variables. The results indicate a significant and positive influence of the principal’s transformational leadership and Asah Asih Asuh pattern on teachers’ professional competence. This finding suggests that principals who demonstrate visionary leadership, emotional intelligence, and a nurturing approach effectively enhance teachers’ ability to plan, implement, and evaluate learning professionally. The study concludes that the Asah Asih Asuh leadership model serves as a strategic framework for improving teacher professional competence in coastal educational contexts. It is recommended that principals continue to develop this model to foster a more collaborative, innovative, and humanistic school culture.

Abstract

Religious instruction in early childhood education faces growing challenges amid digital distractions and multicultural influences, necessitating creative and contextually relevant pedagogical strategies. This study aims to analyze the practice of modifying popular children's songs into Islamic songs as a contemporary method for teaching Quran and Hadith to early childhood learners in Indonesia. A qualitative descriptive method was employed, with data collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews with 12 teachers, 2 parents and lyrical analysis of Islamic songs used across five Islamic early childhood education institutions Raudhatul Athfal (RA) and Taman Kanak-Kanak Islam Terpadu (TKIT) in Jambi City. The findings reveal that song modification effectively internalizes Quranic values and Hadith-based moral teachings in a playful and engaging manner. Notably, 10 out of 12 teachers and 2 parents reported significant improvements in children's attention spans and memorization of short Quranic verses and prophetic sayings, alongside observable positive behavioral changes. This method also fosters educator creativity in integrating Islamic content with local cultural expressions, producing a contextual and inclusive learning environment. Unlike previous studies that focus predominantly on conventional recitation-based approaches, this study demonstrates that adapting familiar melodies to Islamic themes offers a practical and replicable solution to declining engagement in Quran-Hadith learning at the foundational level. This study contributes to the field of Islamic early childhood pedagogy by providing an evidence-based model that harmonizes spiritual objectives with contemporary educational practices.
