Abstract

The World Health Organization (WHO) recognize the COVID-19 pandemic as an imminent global threat. To dampen the spread of the highly-contagious virus, the Indonesian government has imposed several social-distancing and government regulations. Nonetheless, these regulations result in peripheral effects; many people are subject to loneliness, fear, and anxiety—all of which leads to depression. Statistical evidence show that depression is very much prevalent in Indonesians—reaching a staggering 62% as of August 2020. Multiple studies have proven the negative correlation between emotional intelligence—which is the ability to regulate and control emotions—and depression. Consequently, this study aims to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and depression in medical students of Universitas Tarumanagara batch 2019. Using a descriptive analytic research design with a cross-sectional approach, we obtained data through simple random sampling a total of 154 respondents who answered an emotional intelligence questionnaire used as a proxy in determining the level of emotional intelligence. Statistical analysis using the chi-square test confirmed that there is a significant negative correlation between emotional intelligence and depression during the COVID-19 pandemic, yielding a p-value of 0.003. In conclusion, students can improve their level of emotional intelligence as a preventive measure of depression during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

One of the health problems in Indonesia is cancer. Among all types of cancer, cervical cancer and breast cancer are the most common types of cancer suffered by women in the world. The purpose of this study is to find out the relationship of knowledge, family support with the practice of KIE SADAR in the working area of west Bogor sub-district health center. This research is descriptive research with a quantitative approach and cross sectional research design that aims to find out the picture of knowledge and support of the family of PTM posbindu cadres in the working area of west Bogor sub-district health center. Research subjects as many as 92 ptm posbindu cadres divided into 5 working areas of West Bogor sub-district health center. The results of the chi square test obtained a value of p = 0.008 then it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between knowledge and the practice of KIE SADAR obtained value OR = 3.46 means that good knowledge cadres have the opportunity to practice KIE SADAR 3.4 times compared to low knowledge cadres. There is a significant relationship between family support and KIE SADAR Practice with a value of p = 0.017 with an OR value = 4,248 means that cadres who get family support have the opportunity to do KIE SADAR Practice 4.2 times compared to cadres not getting family support.

Abstract

Acne vulgaris (AV) is a chronic inflammatory disease of the pilosebasea unit associated with the sebum glands. Reactive oxygen species play a role in av pathophysiology. Astaxantin has an anti-inflammatory effect so administration of this topical ASX is expected to cause improvement of lesions in AV. The purpose of the study was to find out that topical astaxantin can lower serum levels of interleukin-1(. This study is a clinical experimental study using the pre and post control design group design double-blind randomized controlled trial with 2 groups, namely the treatment group given standard AV therapy drugs in the form of gel containing tretinoin 0.025% + clindamycin phosphate 1.2% and astaxantin gel 5% and control group given the same standard AV therapy drug and placebo gel. Serum IL-8 levels were assessed at weeks 0 and VIII as an in vitro study. The paired difference between the serum IL-8 pretest and postest levels in the treatment group was p=0.751 and the control group was p=0.837. The unpaired test of il-8 level examination between the treatment group and the control group on the pretest was p=0.607 and the posttest was p=0.297 showed no significant difference. The addition of topical astaxantin as an AV supplemental therapy has not been shown to lower serum IL-8 levels.

Abstract

Production of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) increased by 40% per month, resulting in global plastic waste during the pandemic and after the COVID-19 pandemic. Degradable plastic is a solution left over from PPE. This research uses environmentally friendly and non-toxic materials, namely PLA, chitosan, ZnO, and palm wax. There are two stages of research, (1) determining the best concentration of palm oil wax (1; 2.5; 5%) according to SNI, and (2) determining the concentration of chitosan (0.5%; 0.75%; 1%; 1, 25%; 1.5%) using the RAL method. Bioplastics were tested for morphology, structure, antibacterial, water vapor permeability, and biodegradability. The results of the morphological test showed cracks and crevices of chitosan in several places. The FTIR test confirmed that the addition of chitosan did not change the chemical components of the bioplastic. Chitosan concentration of 0.5% was the best in inhibiting Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria. The addition of chitosan made the tensile strength value increase but decreased elongation at rest, the WVP test had no significant effect, while the biodegradability test at the smallest concentration of chitosan could increase the biodegradability.

Abstract

Hydroquinone is used clinically as a topical agent for depigmented conditions such as chloasma and melasma, but use of more than 2% hydroquinone can cause irritation. Hydroquinone levels exceeding 5% can cause a burning sensation on the skin. Mercury in the smallest levels can be toxic, the use of high doses can cause permanent damage to the brain, kidneys and impaired fetal development. The purpose of this study was to identify and determine levels of hydroquinone and mercury in night creams from several beauty clinics in Tangerang. Samples were taken from five beauty clinics in Tangerang, Banten. Samples were analyzed using HPLC (High Perform Liquid Chromatography) to determine hydroquinone levels, while mercury levels were analyzed using ICP-MS (Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry). This research was conducted at the Regional Health Laboratory of DKI Jakarta. The results showed that from 5 samples that analyzed, cream B containing 4,87 % hydroquinone, cream D containing 4,64 % hydroquinone and cream E containing 5,23 % hydroquinone. The conclusion of this study is that the use of hydroquinone ingredients in night creams is still widely found, of the five samples there are three positive containing hydroquinone, namely with levels of 4.87%, 4.64% and 5.23%, while the use of mercury ingredients in night cream preparations is negative in all five samples.

Abstract

Hepatitis B is an infectious disease that attacks the liver which can be acute and chronic. Blood transfusion is one of the most common horizontal HBV transmission routes. In donors who suffer from hepatitis B disease or become carriers of hepatitis B, the blood containing the hepatitis B virus can be transmitted to recipients through blood transfusions. Several measures are taken to prevent the transmission of hepatitis, namely by checking for HBsAg. If HBsAg is positive, the donor is not allowed to donate. The purpose of this study was to find out an overview of the results of HBsAg examination on donors at the Indonesian Red Cross Blood Donor Unit, Kudus Regency during 2020. Donors at the Kudus Regency Blood Transfusion Unit during 2020. The study was carried out in January 2021 at the Kudus Regency Blood Transfusion Unit. . Diagnostic tests are performed using the Frequency Distribution. The results showed that the number of reactive donors was 96 (0.60%) of the total 16,081 donors. The number of reactive donors was more in males, namely 78 (81.25%) of the total reactive donors, while 18 (18.75%). Reactive HBsAg cases with the most donors were in February 2020 and the lowest cases were in November 2020. Hepatitis B affects men more than women. This is because men are generally more active than women, while hepatitis is transmitted through bodily fluids, which may occur due to activity, for example, through wounds received at work or while shaving.
