Abstract

The inflammatory process in the glomerulus caused after infection from group A nephritogenic type beta-hemolytic streptococcal bacteria is called acute post-infectious streptococcal glomerulonephritis (GNAPS). Patients who exhibit symptoms such as gross hematuria, puffiness, and hypertension, as well as acute renal failure after streptococcal infection, should suspect post-streptococcal acute glomerulonephritis. Typical signs of glomerulonephritis in urinalysis, evidence of laboratory streptococcal infection (ASTO more than 100 Todd), and low levels of C3 complement (less than 4 years or more than 15 years) have a history of disease with similar symptoms, accompanied by chronic renal failure, GFR below 50% of normal age, macroscopic hematuria more than 3 months or microscopic hematuria more than 1 year, C3 levels decrease over 3 months as well as refractory proteinuria. Administration of antibiotics (Penicillin for 10 days) in the acute phase does not affect the worsening of the condition of glomerulonephritis but rather reduces the spread of Streptococcal infections that may still exist. In addition, treatment of hypertension is also necessary. Peritoneal measures of dialysis or hemodialysis may be considered in cases of acute renal failure.

Abstract

Special attention to health issues is still the main focus of the government in Indonesia. Some health aspects that are of concern include health degrees, cross-sectoral cooperation, health development policies, health development financing systems, quality of health facilities, health workers, and health supplies (Suparyanto, 2010). These health problems can affect the general public as well as certain groups such as infants, toddlers, pregnant women, the elderly, and workers. The purpose of this study is to run the Tri Darma of higher education by implementing community service activities, especially in the form of preparing health cadres to face the New Normal Era in Jabungan Banyumanik Village, Semarang City. The implementation method includes a preparatory stage that involves coordinating with health cadres, identifying participants, compiling materials, and carrying out activities using lectures, demonstrations, and discussion methods. Evaluation is carried out through pretest and posttest to measure the increase in cadre knowledge. Findings from the study showed that there was an increase in cadre knowledge by 15%. The impact of this research is improving the quality of health cadres, public understanding of the New Normal Era, and strengthening cooperation between universities and the community. Therefore, increasing the knowledge and skills of cadres, as well as community understanding, is expected to have a positive impact on health services and preparation for new situations.

Abstract

In 2018, the global prevalence of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infections reached approximately 43 million cases, with cervical cancer attributed to 75% of cases in women. The HPV vaccine has shown efficacy in preventing up to 88% of cervical cancer cases. To address the lack of awareness surrounding HPV and cervical cancer prevention, this study aimed to assess the knowledge, attitude, and practice among active female medical students at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Pelita Harapan. In March 2023, this cross-sectional study utilized a questionnaire developed and validated by Winarto et al., covering socio-demographic information and questions related to cervical cancer. Out of 168 participants, 75.6% demonstrated good knowledge about cervical cancer, yet the practice of raising awareness and HPV vaccination was notably low. Interestingly, students who underwent obstetric and gynecology rotations exhibited similar low practice scores (87.5%) compared to those who had not. Furthermore, only 40% of students had completed their HPV vaccination. The study suggests a disconnect between knowledge, attitude, and practice among students, with no significant influence observed from obstetric and gynecology rotations.

Abstract

This observational retrospective study conducted at Hasan Sadikin General Hospital (RSHS) in Bandung from January 2019 to February 2023 aimed to characterise oral hemangiomas and vascular malformations. Out of 52 medical records analysed, infantile hemangioma was the most common type (17%), typically presenting between ages 13 to 24 years. Predominantly located around the lip, tongue, and buccal mucosa, it seldom caused bleeding or pain, with women being more affected. Treatment often involved sclerotic agent injections. Venous malformations accounted for 58% of vascular malformations, showing similar age of presentation and distribution as hemangiomas, and were also treated with sclerotic agents. Accurate diagnosis and tailored treatment are crucial due to the diverse nature of these anomalies. Early detection using imaging techniques like ultrasound and CT angiography is imperative, given the potential impact on patients, including pain, swelling, and cosmetic concerns, particularly in the head and neck area. However, treatment approaches vary based on factors such as type and size, necessitating further research to refine diagnostic and therapeutic strategies and optimise patient outcomes.

Abstract

This research aims to carry out an in-depth analysis of the effects of herbs on anxiety in psychological cases. In order to address the complex character of anxiety disorders, there is a link between herbal therapies for anxiety in psychological cases and the integration of psychological and herbal viewpoints. Herbal treatments provide supplementary options for modifying neurobiological mechanisms underpinning symptom presentation, whereas psychological therapies focus on the cognitive, emotional, and behavioural elements of anxiety. Bibliometric analysis was done using VOSviewer software, and data was taken from the Scopus database. Data was taken by searching for keywords that were appropriate to this research, namely "herbal,” “anxiety,” and “psychology.”Herbal remedies are a viable means of supplementing psychological therapy and fostering overall well-being while reducing anxiety in psychological problems. In psychological circumstances, the link between herbal therapies for anxiety entails integrating herbal and psychological viewpoints to address the intricate interaction of behavioural, affective, cognitive, and neurobiological components that underlie anxiety disorders. Healthcare professionals should stay up to date on the growing body of research supporting herbal therapies and participate in collaborative decision-making with patients on available treatments, taking into account each patient's unique preferences, values, and cultural beliefs. The research's methodological approach, which combines bibliometric analysis with data retrieved from the Scopus database, offers a methodical and objective way to compile the body of knowledge on herbal remedies for anxiety in psychiatric problems.

Abstract

Despite the joy of being pregnant, some mothers experience anxiety and depression after giving birth. Blues Depression and anxiety throughout pregnancy and after have a significant negative influence on pregnant women's mental health. This research reviewed the available literature. Electronic databases, including Pubmed, Google Scholar, and ProQuest, were used for the searches. Journals containing the terms "Spiritual Emotional Freedom Technique (SEFT)," "Postpartum Blues," "Pregnant Women," and "Pregnancy" were found in the first search. The study's findings indicate that spiritual practices like dhikr and mutual Al-Qur'an, as well as faith-based treatment and spiritual beliefs, have the ability to lessen pregnant women's anxiety and despair.  This study intends to find out if Spiritual EFT could be a useful option for reducing symptoms of postpartum blues, a psychological illness that can impact a woman's emotional health after childbirth. The findings of the study indicate that using this therapy can significantly improve the mental health of expectant mothers.

Abstract

Urine, a byproduct of metabolism occurring in the kidneys, serves as a crucial diagnostic medium in laboratory settings, including the microscopic examination of calcium oxalate crystals. Influenced by various factors, such as demographics and environmental conditions, the formation of these crystals underscores broader health considerations. Mountain water, renowned for its mineral content, constitutes a significant source of daily hydration. However, the dominance of calcium and magnesium elements in surface water raises concerns regarding calcium oxalate crystallization. This study investigates the prevalence of calcium oxalate crystals in mountain water consumers within Kuningan Regency. Employing descriptive research methods and random sampling techniques, the study examined urine samples from 38 individuals. Results revealed calcium oxalate crystals in 11 participants, constituting 28.95% of the sample. This finding underscores the need for further research into water quality and its implications for public health in the region. By elucidating the relationship between water composition and urinary crystal formation, this study informs strategies for safeguarding community health and informs future policy initiatives regarding water resource management.

Abstract

Stroke is one of the main cardiovascular diseases that causes death and disability throughout the world. One of the important risk factors for stroke is hyperglycemia or high blood sugar levels. This study aims to analyze the correlation between blood glucose levels and the risk of non-hemorrhagic stroke in the elderly population. This research utilizes a qualitative approach. The data source used is the scientific literature. The data that has been collected is then analyzed through the process of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research findings show that there was a significant positive correlation between blood glucose levels and the risk of non-hemorrhagic stroke in the elderly population. Elderly people with high blood glucose levels have a higher risk of non-hemorrhagic stroke compared to elderly people with normal blood glucose levels. Good control of blood glucose levels can be an important strategy to reduce the risk of non-hemorrhagic stroke in the elderly.
