Abstract

Ovarian cancer (OC), ranking third among gynecological cancers, poses a significant health concern with the worst prognosis and highest mortality rate. The global incidence, as per 2018 data, reached 295,414 cases, constituting 3.4% of women's cancer cases. The prevalence has notably risen in Asian countries, including Singapore and Indonesia. This report highlights two cases from Dr. M. Djamil, emphasizing the importance of personalized medicine (PM) in treating OC. PM, leveraging genomic information, aids in tailoring treatments for individual patients. The standard treatment involves cytoreductive surgical debulking and platinum-based chemotherapy. Notably, PM has shown promise in addressing specific genetic mutations, such as BRCA1 and BRCA2, prevalent in breast and ovarian tumors, enabling more targeted therapeutic approaches and enhancing treatment outcomes.

Abstract

Ensuring patient safety is a crucial aspect of healthcare including TM/CAM, particularly in the field of women's health. Healthcare providers must prioritize the safety of women during pregnancy and childbirth to prevent any harm or potential risks. This research used a traditional review, increasing the amount of literature that has been read and analyzed by the researcher. Normative-juridical principles in a prescriptive analytical manner with a statutory regulatory approach and the thinking method is deductive. General patient safety principles can be used in TM/CAM services by implementing the International Classification of Patient Safety (ICPS). Women are at risk due to their genital, hormonal, and pregnancy characteristics and may be affected by disease conditions acquired before or during pregnancy, and complications from physiological events at the end of pregnancy. Regulations on traditional health services and women's health care in Law No. 17 of 2023 and other regulations. This arrangement must guarantee safety, quality, and affordability. Patient safety is specifically regulated by Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number 11 of 2017 concerning Patient Safety. TM/CAM health services have developed in society and have to assess quality and safety standards, registration and accreditation have been established and TM/CAM health service practitioners, both those with formal and non-formal education, are required to have a competency certificate and Registration Certificate (STR). And Licenses (SIP) and Traditional Healers Registered Certificate (STPT).

Abstract

The inflammatory process in the glomerulus caused after infection from group A nephritogenic type beta-hemolytic streptococcal bacteria is called acute post-infectious streptococcal glomerulonephritis (GNAPS). Patients who exhibit symptoms such as gross hematuria, puffiness, and hypertension, as well as acute renal failure after streptococcal infection, should suspect post-streptococcal acute glomerulonephritis. Typical signs of glomerulonephritis in urinalysis, evidence of laboratory streptococcal infection (ASTO more than 100 Todd), and low levels of C3 complement (less than 4 years or more than 15 years) have a history of disease with similar symptoms, accompanied by chronic renal failure, GFR below 50% of normal age, macroscopic hematuria more than 3 months or microscopic hematuria more than 1 year, C3 levels decrease over 3 months as well as refractory proteinuria. Administration of antibiotics (Penicillin for 10 days) in the acute phase does not affect the worsening of the condition of glomerulonephritis but rather reduces the spread of Streptococcal infections that may still exist. In addition, treatment of hypertension is also necessary. Peritoneal measures of dialysis or hemodialysis may be considered in cases of acute renal failure.

Abstract

Special attention to health issues is still the main focus of the government in Indonesia. Some health aspects that are of concern include health degrees, cross-sectoral cooperation, health development policies, health development financing systems, quality of health facilities, health workers, and health supplies (Suparyanto, 2010). These health problems can affect the general public as well as certain groups such as infants, toddlers, pregnant women, the elderly, and workers. The purpose of this study is to run the Tri Darma of higher education by implementing community service activities, especially in the form of preparing health cadres to face the New Normal Era in Jabungan Banyumanik Village, Semarang City. The implementation method includes a preparatory stage that involves coordinating with health cadres, identifying participants, compiling materials, and carrying out activities using lectures, demonstrations, and discussion methods. Evaluation is carried out through pretest and posttest to measure the increase in cadre knowledge. Findings from the study showed that there was an increase in cadre knowledge by 15%. The impact of this research is improving the quality of health cadres, public understanding of the New Normal Era, and strengthening cooperation between universities and the community. Therefore, increasing the knowledge and skills of cadres, as well as community understanding, is expected to have a positive impact on health services and preparation for new situations.

Abstract

In 2018, the global prevalence of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infections reached approximately 43 million cases, with cervical cancer attributed to 75% of cases in women. The HPV vaccine has shown efficacy in preventing up to 88% of cervical cancer cases. To address the lack of awareness surrounding HPV and cervical cancer prevention, this study aimed to assess the knowledge, attitude, and practice among active female medical students at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Pelita Harapan. In March 2023, this cross-sectional study utilized a questionnaire developed and validated by Winarto et al., covering socio-demographic information and questions related to cervical cancer. Out of 168 participants, 75.6% demonstrated good knowledge about cervical cancer, yet the practice of raising awareness and HPV vaccination was notably low. Interestingly, students who underwent obstetric and gynecology rotations exhibited similar low practice scores (87.5%) compared to those who had not. Furthermore, only 40% of students had completed their HPV vaccination. The study suggests a disconnect between knowledge, attitude, and practice among students, with no significant influence observed from obstetric and gynecology rotations.

Abstract

This observational retrospective study conducted at Hasan Sadikin General Hospital (RSHS) in Bandung from January 2019 to February 2023 aimed to characterise oral hemangiomas and vascular malformations. Out of 52 medical records analysed, infantile hemangioma was the most common type (17%), typically presenting between ages 13 to 24 years. Predominantly located around the lip, tongue, and buccal mucosa, it seldom caused bleeding or pain, with women being more affected. Treatment often involved sclerotic agent injections. Venous malformations accounted for 58% of vascular malformations, showing similar age of presentation and distribution as hemangiomas, and were also treated with sclerotic agents. Accurate diagnosis and tailored treatment are crucial due to the diverse nature of these anomalies. Early detection using imaging techniques like ultrasound and CT angiography is imperative, given the potential impact on patients, including pain, swelling, and cosmetic concerns, particularly in the head and neck area. However, treatment approaches vary based on factors such as type and size, necessitating further research to refine diagnostic and therapeutic strategies and optimise patient outcomes.
