Abstract

In the retail industry, service quality is the main consideration and the quality and completeness of the products offered. The recent conditions that result in declining sales turnover at most of the retail industries in Surabaya prompted this research to be carried out. In this study, an analysis of the service quality in one of the retail industries in Surabaya will be carried out. The method used is the integration between servqual and Kano models. Both methods are used because they are proven to show good results in previous research. The results obtained from this study are that several service attributes need to be improved because of the negative satisfactions value result. Those attributes are the availability of items location instruction. Item price should be matched with the price tag, standard pricing, safety parking, safety shopping, good salesperson, and careful cashier.

Abstract

Many companies still do not prioritize occupational health and safety, causing a large workload to be borne both physically and mentally. It affects the workers ' fatigue and will affect performance. Work fatigue is a symptom associated with decreased work efficiency, skills, boredom, and increased anxiety. PT. XYZ is a manufacturing company, which produce refractory stone from clay as the main raw material. The production process uses human-machine power, lack of rest time, overtime to achieve production targets, repetitive and standing work, and a long-distance between milling stations and raw material processing. A few people only carry out the final part of the process. With this problem, this study uses Cardiovascular Load and Bourdon Wiersma to slow down worker fatigue and is expected to help measure worker fatigue to provide a solution in slowing down worker fatigue. The number of samples used as many as 20 workers. The results obtained from the analysis of this work system are shift one and shift two have different levels of fatigue, namely shift one high category and shift two low categories, as well as the mental load shift one is low while shift two is high, therefore shift one needs to be the improvement in his physical load while shift two needs to improve his mental load. Corrective actions that can be taken in shift one are to increase the rest time from 45 minutes to 60 minutes, implement a worker rolling system, and improve workplace conditions to make it more ergonomic. Corrective actions that can be taken in shift two are providing music, arranging work shifts such as rolling shifts, and adding rest periods.

Abstract

Work facilities can affect an operator. Unsafe and comfortable work facilities can reduce operator performance and pose a risk of work accidents. CV. XYZ is a business entity engaged in contracting and advertising services. Every day, operators work with non-ideal body positions (bent, sit down) which affects their performance in fulfilling work and causes disturbances in the skeletal muscles of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs). It is necessary to review the work facilities for operators. This study aims to design an ergonomic work facility to reduce skeletal muscle disorders at certain work stations based on an evaluation using the Quick Exposure Check (QEC) method. The results showed that the highest average exposure level value was found in the workstation on the raised letter work, which was 71.60%, so it was necessary to make changes to the workstation. The proposal given is in the form of a chair and table design for operators using anthropometric data. The new design is expected to reduce the risk of injury to the operator's work, especially injuries to the skeletal muscles, and improve the performance of the workers themselves.

Abstract

Total suspended solid is one of the useful parameters to detect the turbidity level that occurs in the body of water. The concentration distribution from total suspended solid is an activity that is quite interesting to study especially in the coastal areas, knowing the distribution value of total suspended solids, it is possible to know the change of ecosystem. The Ujung Pangkah Gresik is an area chosen as an example to determine the distribution concentration of total suspended solid value by making an appropriate mathematical model that can imagine the condition of the body of water in that coastal area. Thus, the purpose of this study was to investigate the mathematics model analysis to imagine the distribution concentration of total suspended solids. The method to model this is by remote sensing that was used in Landsat 8 satellite imagery. In addition, this study used the remote sensing method on the visible light canal (red, green, and blue) to determine the mathematics model analysis of total suspended concentration distribution. The result showed that there was red canal has significant image result compared to another visible canal. The red canal result showed the mathematics model exponential with correlation value R 0.873 has a significant effect to image the total suspended solids concentration distribution. This study concludes that Landsat 8 satellite image can quite effectively and accurately be used to map the distribution of total suspended solid especially in the shallow water environment adjacent to ponds and estuary.

Abstract

Struvite or Magnesium Ammonium Phosphate Hexahydrate (MgNH4 PO4.6H2O) is one of the precipitates generally formed in the piping system. The formation of struvite in the piping system is one of the serious problems that can cause blockages, reduced flow volume, and pipe diameter to increase maintenance and production costs. This formation of struvite scale in the industrial instrument is detrimental; however, struvite can be used as raw material for slow-release fertilizers. This study will observe the effect of pH in the range of 8, 8.5, 9, 9.5, and 10 on the formation of struvite compositions, consisting of Mg, NH4, PO4, Ca, and K in the surrounding temperature of 35oC. The results of this study will be observed using visual MINTEQ software. The result shows that the most suitable pH for struvite formation is 9.5.

Abstract

The dependence of Indonesian people on diesel fuel is still very high, proven by the increasing amount of diesel fuel consumption yearly. The increase in diesel fuel consumption is a severe problem that must be anticipated because diesel is a fuel that originates from fossils and is non-renewable. In addition to its limited availability, environmental issues are also a matter of concern in the use of diesel fuel because the resulting exhaust emissions can interfere with health and increase global warming. One way to overcome this is to switch from fossil fuels to biofuels, i.e., biodiesel. Although theoretically biodiesel can be used directly as a substitute for diesel fuel, there is very little research on the fuel consumption required for the exhaust emissions produced. Therefore this study aims to determine the correlation between the characteristics of specific fuel consumption (SFC) on exhaust emissions produced in diesel engines using B20 (20% biodiesel + 80% diesel) and B100 (100% biodiesel) fuel. Based on the results of the study, it was found that an increase in SFC resulted in a downward trend in carbon monoxide (CO) and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. In the meantime, the hydrocarbon (HC) emissions and the resulting smoke opacity increased; this was influenced by several factors such as an increase in combustion temperature, increased deposit, and component wear.

Abstract

A manufacturing company in production activities requires machinery and equipment. The machine has reliability, namely the opportunity for the machine to operate according to its function in a certain period. Company XYZ is a company located in Sidoarjo and is engaged in manufacturing with the main product being White Crystal Sugar (GKP). Company XYZ has several machines or equipment that operate 24 hours throughout the milling season with a series and parallel system so that the probability of damage to machine components is quite high. One of the machines that are often damaged is the boiler engine. Based on the problems that exist in this company, it is necessary to evaluate the engine performance at the boiler station during the milling period. The methods used in this research are Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and Root Cause Analysis. The OEE value obtained by the machine at the boiler station at Company XYZ for machines that have a value above the ideal standard of 85%, namely bagasse carrier IV, bagasse carrier III, bagasse carrier II, belt conveyor, reclaimer I, and reclaimer II. Meanwhile for machines that have a value below the ideal standard of 85%, namely boilers KCC of 77.98%, boilers FCB of 81.73%, and bagasse carrier I of 82.37%. This condition shows that production is considered reasonable, but still shows that there is a large room for the company to make developments.

Abstract

The electrolysis of water is one of many methods to produce hydrogen by converting electrical and thermal energy into hydrogen and oxygen. In this study, a generator of the HHO dry cell type is used to produce brown gas. Brown’s gas consists of two hydrogens and one oxygen or Oxyhydrogen (HHO). Observation will be conducted to obtain the effect of electrode gap distance to increase the productivity of Brown’s Gas with a mixture of 2500 ml pure water and catalyst of NaHCO3. The results show that if the electrode gap is small, it will produce more brown gas than the long gap. However, research still needs to be done on how close the electrode gap distance is needed to produce maximum brown gas.
