Journal of Education on Social Science (JESS) ISSN: 2622-0741 (Print), ISSN 2550-0147 (Electronic) is a peer-reviewed journal and published biannually (twice in a year): April and October by the Faculty of Social Science, Universitas Negeri Padang, Indonesia. The journal aims to publish research and theoretical articles within the field of social science education, and to analyze a range of contemporary educational issues on social science. This study aimed to determine the contribution of emotional intelligence and social intelligence on the performance of employees in the Local Apparatus Organization of Tanah Datar Regency. This study was motivated by various problems which indicated the low quality of employee performance which was allegedly related to the low emotional intelligence and social intelligence of the employees. This was a quantitative research whose population was all civil servants in the organization totaling 1.596 people. The sample in this study consisted of 320 respondents who were determined using the Slovin formula with an error rate of 5% and set through Multistage Random Sampling technique. Data in this study were collected trough questionnaires with Likert scale measurement and analyzed with multiple linear regression test. The results of this study showed that there was a contribution of emotional intelligence to employee performance by 41,3%. There was also a contribution of social intelligence to employee performance amounted to 48,3%. At the same time, the contribution of emotional and social intelligence on the performance of employees in the Local Apparatus Organization of Tanah Datar Regency were 53,2%. So it could be concluded that emotional intelligence and social intelligence contributed significantly to employee performances.

The purpose of this research is to analyze the effect of work spirit on the performance of nagari apparatus in Nagari financial management in Pesisir Selatan Regency. The background of this research is due to the low work spirit of Nagari apparatus in Koto XI Tarusan and Bayang subdistrict which is still so that it has an impact on Nagari financial management that is not optimal. The method used in this study is a quantitative method with the form of associative research. The population in this study was of Nagari devices in Koto XI Tarusan and Bayang Subdistrict, totaling 140 respondents. The sample in this study consisted of 126 Nagari devices which were determined using the Slovin formula with an error rate of 5% and the sampling technique using the Proportionate Stratifed Random Sampling technique. Data collection technique in this study are using questionnaires distributed to respondents with measurement using a Likert scale. The data obtained are then analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results of this study indicate that the work spirit variable (simultaneously) has a significant effect on the performance of nagari apparatus in nagari financial management with a significance value of 0,000 and the value of Adjust R Square 0.295. Thus, the influence of work spirit on the performance of nagari devices in managing nagari finances is 29.5%. While the remaining 70.5% is influenced by other variables not examined in this study.

This study aims to analyze people's perceptions of the urgency of a marriage certificate in Linggo Sari Baganti District, Pesisir Selatan Regency. This research method is Qualitative Descriptive, with several informants as data sources that are determined based on appropriate criteria through direct observation on the object of research and interviews. Secondary data that supports this research are obtained from the documents available at the object of research. To test the validity of the data used Triangulation Technique. Based on the information from the informants of this study, it can be explained that the public perception of the marriage certificate still considers the marriage certificate as not urgent and not important so that the administrative management is not completed because it considers it not urgent so the community neglects the marriage certificate. The community still perceives the management to be long and complicated, even though after the author compares the data in the field regarding the management procedures, it is not difficult to take care of it. Obstacles in the management of marriage certificates faced by the community are related to customary arrangements and the lack of file requirements submitted to KUA. Efforts made by KUA to deal with these obstacles are like conducting counseling to each village about the importance of marriage certificates. Based on the research above the recommendations that the writer can suggest to the community are expected to be willing to take part in socialization and counseling about marriage registration. So that people can know and understand the importance of marriage certificates. Responsible parties such as KUA, P3N and the government are expected to be able to increase socialization regularly.Keywords: Community Perception, Urgency, Marriage Deed.

This study aimed to determine the influence of work motivation on the performance of government apparatus nagari in nagari financial management in the Subdistrict of Sungayang, Tanah Datar Regency. This study was conducted with quantitative approach. The population of this research was all nagari government apparatus in Sungayang Subdistrict, Tanah Datar Regency consisting of nagari secretary, nagari treasurer and five head of nagari affair. The sample in this study consisted of 32 respondents determined by Slovin formula and Simple Random Sampling technique. The data of this study were collected through questionnaire with Likert scale measurement. The data of this study were analyzed with simple linear regression test. The results of this study indicated that work motivation variable significantly influenced the performance of nagari government apparatus in financial management with a significance value of 0.000, and the Adjusted R Square value of 0.685. This means that the effect of work motivation variable on the performance of nagari financial management in Sungayang Subdistrict Tanah Datar was 68.5%. While the remaining (31.5%) influenced by other variables that are not investigated in this study.

This study aimed to determine and analyze how much the influence of the work ethic and integrity on the performance of Civil Servants (PNS) within the Regional Government Organizations/Agencies (OPD), Regional Secretariat, Legislator Secretariat, Inspectorate Office, and some SubDistrict offices in Padang City. The method used in this study was associative quantitative. The population of this study was all civil servants within the Regional Government Organizations/Agencies (OPD), Regional Secretariat, Legislator Secretariat, Inspectorate Office, and some SubDistrict offices in Padang City. The sample size in this study used the Bartlett formula and the sample was determined through proportional stratified random sampling. Data in this study were collected through questionnaire with a Likert scale measurement. The data obtained were then analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results of this study showed that the effect of work ethic and integrity variables had significantly influenced on the performance of Civil Servants (PNS) in the Regional Government Organizations/Agencies (OPD), Regional Secretariat, Legislator Secretariat, Inspectorate Office, and some SubDistrict offices in Padang City.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of work discipline on the performance capabilities of the nagari apparatus in nagari financial management in Banuhampu and Sungai Pua Districts. The population used in this study were all nagari apparatus in Banuhampu and Sungai Pua Subdistricts of 80 people, while the samples used as many as 75 respondents were determined by the Slovin formula using the proportionate stratified random sampling technique. Data collection in this study was conducted using a questionnaire with a Likert scale measurement and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results of this study indicate that the work discipline of the nagari apparatus is relatively high while the performance of the nagari apparatus is still low and the results of the regression test explain that work discipline has an impact on the performance capabilities of the nagari apparatus in nagari financial management in Banuhampu and Sungai Pua Districts.

The purpose of this study is to determine the behavior of society and other parties in managing forests and land as well as to formulate strategies to prevent forest and land fire in Belitung Islands Belitung province. This study uses a mixed method by combining descriptive method which is supported by AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process). From the analysis that has been done, there are five policy priorities that can be applied as the policy strategies to prevent both forest and land fires in Belitung Regency, namely: 1) imposition of discipline the use of fire for land expansion, 2) Tightening surveillance, patrols and surveillance in vulnerable forest burning, 3) Socialization and elucidation to the society about the dangers of forest and land fires, 4) Develop training patterns of forest and land fire prevention, 5) Establish prone areas to fire.

Integrity and professionalism of an employee was one of indicators to improve the quality of public services. The existence of problems with the quality of public services at the Pariaman City District Court Office which was still low indicated the integrity and professionalism of employees was needed to improve the quality of public services in the agency of Pariaman City District Court. This research was conducted in order to improve the trust and legitimacy of the government and its bureaucracy in the eyes of the public. To achieve this goal, the researchers used data collection techniques through the distribution of questionnaires with a population of 39 people. The data was processed using quantitative analysis to determine the effect of employee integrity and professionalism on the quality of public services. From the results of this study, it could be seen that there was a positive influence on the integrity and professionalism of employees' work on the quality of public services which has been tested by the T test, the X1 variable against Y has a significance value of 0.017 <0.05. and the T-test of the X2 variable against Y had a significance value of 0.000 <0.05. And the percentage contribution of the variable X to Y is 49.4%. The value listed in this study was the higher the integrity and professionalism of the employee's work, the higher the quality of public services provided

Indonesia is known as a country with a pluralistic society. With the wealth of ethnicity, ethnicity, race, and religion in it, this multicultural society then becomes prone to friction. Not to mention the differences in terms of language, customs, and habits in it. These frictions will in turn lead to conflicts which are then unavoidable. The study of inter-ethnic conflict in Indonesia in the analysis of face negotiation theory was carried out with several objectives, which are: to explain the analysis of face negotiation theory in several cases of ethnic conflict that occurred in Indonesia so that it is expected to be taken into consideration in preventing or dealing with similar conflicts. The method used in this research is qualitative with data sources obtained through literature study (Creswell, 2012). The result of the research is that in the Indonesian phenomenon, many sources said that usually the way Indonesian people in determining their attitude during conflict are by integration or mutual - face. Where the characteristics in it are Apologize, Private talk, Remain calm, Problem solve, and Respect. This behavior is a characteristic of collectivistic culture that is indeed embraced by Indonesian people in general

The focus of the study was the lifestyle of female students who used makeup, particularly those who used it every day. This study is a descriptive qualitative study, while the sampling technique used is purposive sampling technique with all six informants who are FKIP UNS students and active users of makeup. Then, for data collection techniques that are done by way of interviews and observations. Meanwhile, the purpose of the study was to find out the lifestyle displayed by female students who use makeup. The results of this study include their efforts in meeting their cosmetic needs, the way they shop for cosmetics, as well as then consumptive behaviors that are then displayed in some good habits in the use of time to priority in choosing products. Generally, these students are of the view that makeup is a thing that must be fulfilled. By using cosmetics, they feel they can appear more free and confident
