Abstract

The quality of agricultural products is demanded to be more optimal in the midst of an increasingly competitive economic development where this is determined by the internal and external quality of these products. Several conventional methods for detecting internal and external qualities have their respective drawbacks. One of the methods to detect the internal and external quality of agricultural products is the near infrared spectroscopy method. With advances in technology such as MEMS-based nanoimprint lithography, compact and microcontrollers, 3d printing, and wireless technology, it is possible to realize portable detection systems. Along with the development of technology, electronic components have also experienced miniaturization, the size of the spectroscopic device has also become smaller. Development and sale of several handheld spectrometers, which include becoming smaller, lighter, and cheaper, such as the use of a single array detector for the development of low cost near infrared handhelds for various agricultural commodities

Abstract

Several agricultural activities around the world emphasize the need to develop technology for cultivating plants in greenhouses that consumes low costs energy. Rainwater harvesting in areas with high rainfall is an alternative source of irrigation water for greenhouse plants. Rainwater harvesting results can be used in greenhouses as a source of fertigation water and microclimate control. Plants require an adequate amount of water on a continuous basis, and this is one of the factors that contribute to the success of greenhouse plant cultivation. The purpose of this article is to increase understanding of rainwater harvesting for irrigation systems and microclimate control in greenhouses. The results of rainwater harvesting from the rooftop greenhouse can meet 61.49-69% of the greenhouse's irrigation water needs. Microclimate reference, substrate moisture content, soil/planting media moisture content, and phyto-sensing can all be used to guide greenhouse irrigation. Rainwater harvested meets irrigation water quality criteria and can save money on irrigation costs. Furthermore, rainwater harvesting results can be used as a source of raw water for fertigation systems and microclimate control in greenhouses. Rainwater harvesting for greenhouse microclimate control can reduce temperatures by 1.3-3.6 °C and is less expensive than fan cooling systems.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The need for fuel derived from natural resource raw materials in Indonesia is increasing from year to year. Fruit and vegetable waste is very disturbing the environment, so research to utilize fruit waste such as banana and pineapple waste for conversion as alternative energy source like bioethanol is very important. This research was conducted to determine the effect of fermentation time on the volume and alcohol content of market fruit waste. The method uses a descriptive quantitative analytical method by measuring the volume and alcohol content produced from various fermentation times. There are three treatments based on differences in fermentation time, (1) three days, (2) five days, and (3) seven days. Measurements were made on the volume and content of bioethanol produced after the distillation process. Data analysis carried out in this study used a descriptive regression method by analyzing differences in volume and bioethanol content from each treatment. The results of the research show that the longer the fermentation is carried out, the more it will affect the volume and level of bioethanol produced. The best fermentation time is 168 hours or 7 days, because in this condition it shows optimal results obtaining a bioethanol content of 84%.

Abstract

Catfish (Pangasius hypothalamus) is the most widely cultivated fishery commodity which can be sold in fresh form. In addition, catfish can also be processed into smoked catfish so that it has a higher selling value. Smoked catfish usually arrives abroad such as Malaysia, but currently it has stopped because the shelf life of smoked catfish can only last for 14 days. Currently, physical quality identification of smoked catfish is done manually and chemical quality is done destructively. Efforts are needed to determine smoked catfish using artificial intelligence such as image processing, artificial neural networks, and near infrared (NIR). This method has been widely used in identifying the physical and chemical properties of fresh and livestock fishery products and processed products from each. This state of the art aims to describe the development of fishery and livestock product quality control technology that is currently being developed, specifically in image processing, artificial neural networks, and NIR which are used to identify the physical quality and chemical content of fishery and livestock products and their processed products
