Abstract

This study investigated the inter-relationshep between diversity of tree and bird species existed in urban forest of Bandar Lampung City. The objectives of the study on Tree and BirdSpecies Diversity in Several Urban Forest Area of Bandar Lampung City are to know a) tree species diversity composition in urban forest vegetation, b) bird species diversity, and c) the correlation between those both components. The study conducted on six areas of urban forest in Bandar Lampung City. Tree sampling was measured within plot line having 20 m x 20 m size, while bird observation was done using direct watching method which was performed every morning (06.00 ~08.00) and evening (16.00 ~ 18.00) during tree days for each urban forest area. The biodiversity parameters used in this study are Margalef Species Richness Index, Shannon Biodiversity Index, and Modified Hill’s Ratio Index of Evenness. In all urban forest areas of Bandar Lampung City wasidentified 45 tree species (24 families) with index of species richness 6.22, index of species diversity 2.92, and index of evenness 0.60. Compared to closest natural vegetation (of Wan Abdul Rachman Provincial Park) the vegetation is very different (index of similarity 0.13). The study concluded thata) urban forest vegetation of Bandar Lampung City are generally dominated by domesticated species, 2) 24 birds species (16 families) were identified in all of urban forest area of Bandar Lampung City, and c) there is positive correlation between the tree species diversity and bird species diversity in urban forest of Bandar Lampung City.

Abstract

An undervaluation of melaleuca forest (MF) needs to be adressed since it affects a management of MF. Type of goods and services produced by MF were indentified. Their values were assessed using Forest Valuation tehniques such as market price and replacement cost methods and then used to determine the value of MF using total economic value (TEV) approach. The result showed that TEV of MF was aboutRp.1,6 million/ha/year (forest flow value). Water had the highest value ofRp.1,04 million/ha/year (or 66% of TEV) followed by leafs ofRp.0,4 million/ha/year(or 24% of TEV). The rest comprised of water, flora and fauna valueswas ofRp. 0,03 million/ha/year (or 1,6% of TEV). The value of MF was estimated about Rp.36 million/hectare (forest stock value).

Abstract

Segmentasi citra mengklasifikasi citra kedalam beberapa segmentasi berdasarkan determinasi jumlah total piksel setiap kelas, sedangkan filter rata-rata mengelompokkan citra berdasarkan rata-rata nilai angka dijital dalam ukuranwindow tertentu.

Abstract

Paclobutrazol is one of hormone which able to inhibit the growth of tree seedling. This kind of hormone is usually used extensively in horticulture in stimulating flowering and enhancing fruiting. The objective of the research was to know the effect of paclobutrazol on the growth of Agathis loranthifolia seedlings during storage under different condition, in order to support seedling supply programs for forest establishment and rehabilitation. There were two factors of the trial i.e.) growth inhibitors (paclobutrazol, NaCl and aquadest) and 2) storage conditions (growth house, heavy shading and light shading). A complete randomized design with two factors and 3replication were used in this trial. The result of the research showed that the treatment of paclobutrazol to the seedlings stored at a green house gave an effect to the height and diameter growth of Agathis loranthifolia seedlings which were lower than those treated by NaCl and aquades. While paclobutrazol treated seedlings stored under light shading, gave higher value of seedling height and diameter than those stored under green house condition and heavy shading. The highest value of seedling survival Agathis loranthifolia achieved by paclobutrazol treated seedlings which were stored at the green house and under light shading. Field testing after 3 months plantation showed that paclobutrazol – treated seedlings and seedlings, stored under light shading gave a highest value of seedling survival (100%) and seedling quality index (0,095).Keywords : paclobutarazol hormone, seedling storage technique, recalcitrant seed, seedling survival,  seedling quality index.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to determine the appropriate survey method for timber stand of private forest, based on its important characteristics. There were three methods used in this research, namely, method according to basic data i.e social-economics and biophysic data; method based on image, approached by vegetation transformacy using NDVI; and method based on integration of basic data and image. The result showed that basic data method is the best method for stratification of the village (desa), as a primary sampling unit of the private forest population (district). The second ones is basic data and image-integration method and last ones is image method. Keywords : basic data, coefficient of variation, image, NDVI, private forest, survey method, timber.

Abstract

To reserve forest land and improve people's income, Perum Perhutani Sumedang regency, together with the people surrounding the forest, makes a program to utilize the forest by using an agroforestry system. For that reason, the researcher is interested in doing research about the type of crops that can optimize forest land. The objective of the research is to analyze the utilization of forest land optimally and improve the social welfare of the people surrounding the forest in Cipadayungan, Sumedang. The result of the research indicates that the degree of erosion in the research field at the slopes of (0-<15)% and (15-<30)% is still under tolerated erosion, but the slope of .30% is beyond tolerated erosion. Types of crops that can be used to utilize the land without clearing grass growing on the forest floor are vanilla and coffee. Those plants are productive crops, while grass can protect the land against erosion.
