Abstract

An influential figure in the field of education in understanding the diversity of children is Bronfenbrenner who suggested ecological theory. This theory offers a multidimensional model to understand the influence of the family, the environment to a larger circle, for example the state economy and politics, as well as a way of understanding the journey of human life from childhood to adulthood. In this theory, the ecological framework allows us to analyze information about individuals and understand systemic relationships over time. In the dynamics of inclusive schools, this theory can provide a basic understanding of student diversity which is increasing day by day in inclusive schools. If we understand this theory, we can find out the various factors that influence the success of inclusive education. In addition, this theory can also be a reference in setting up an environment that is open to differences, considers diversity as something natural, and supports each other on the uniqueness of each individual in the school context.

Abstract

The practice of education in schools still needs to improve in the form of limited studies focusing on parental involvement in the learning process of children with special needs in Indonesia. This study aimed to identify the forms of parental involvement in planning, implementing, and evaluating learning programs from 2017 to 2022 using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. The stages of implementation using the Cooper version are (1) formulating the problem, (2) collecting data, (3) evaluating the feasibility of the data, (4) analysis and interpreting the relevant data, and (5) organizing and presenting the results. Data was collected by searching for keywords related to the concept to be reviewed on the data source page (Google Scholar, Perpusnas.go.id, and Portal Garuda). The results of this study indicate that parental involvement in learning planning is as a giver and recipient of information about the child's condition in the assessment process but has yet to be involved in determining the learning program. Meanwhile, mostly parents accompanied children when studying at home during the pandemic, despite many challenges in the learning implementation.  As for the evaluation process, parents monitored their children’s progress and gave feedback to the teachers about their children’s achievements. The findings of this study indicate the need for further studies to improve school-parent collaboration in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study analyses how inclusive education is being implemented in Madrasah in Indonesia through the "Merdeka Belajar" program. The research uses document and content analysis to examine the Decree of Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia about guidelines for the implementation of the “Merdeka Belajar” curriculum in madrasahs (KMA RI No. 347 of 2022) policy document as a means to comprehend the intricate essence and origin of the issue, particularly in relation to inclusive education. The study reveals that the policy document mentioned the term diversity, students with disabilities, and inclusive education, however, the terms are limited and still need more specific explanations about inclusive education. The result shows that the "Merdeka Belajar" program is an important initiative that seeks to create inclusive classrooms where all students can receive a quality education in Madrasah setting.

Abstract

The education system in the world is continually evolving. Nature-Based Learning (NBL) is an innovative learning model in the field of education that can be applied to children with special needs, particularly those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Children with ASD in elementary school age often experience difficulties in communication and socialization, necessitating appropriate interventions, one of which is the implementation of NBL as a learning model. This study is a qualitative research that utilizes literature review as the data collection method, analyzed using the Miles and Hubberman technique. The findings of this research reveal the significance of NBL in the elementary school age, where it creates a calm and non-threatening learning environment, facilitates collaboration, communication, and teamwork through group activities in nature. The impact of NBL on the psychological development of children with autism is highlighted, encompassing sensory regulation, reduced stress, improved focus, enhanced social skills, cognitive development, and a positive relationship with the environment.
