Abstract

This study aimed to determine the types of questions used by English teachers. The study was carried out in SMK Muhammadiyah Toli Toli. A qualitative descriptive design was employed to conduct this research. One English teacher who teaches in SMK Muhammadiyah Toli-Toli became the subject of this study. Observation and interview were the instruments used by the researcher to collect the data, which were then analyzed qualitatively. The researcher took the data in two meetings. After collecting the data, the data were analyzed based on Miles and Huberman, which consisted of three techniques: data reduction, data display, and conclusion. This study showed that, based on Richard and Lockhart's theory, the types of questions used by the English teacher include procedural questions (15 data) and convergent questions (14 data). The teacher frequently used procedural questions in a classroom. However, the researcher did not find that the teacher used different questions.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat bagaimana penerapan strategi pembelajaran Suggestopedia dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar IPAS siswa kelas V SDN 26 Tolitoli. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk  meningkatkan  hasil  belajar  IPAS  murid  kelas  V SDN 26 Tolitoli melalui strategi pembelajaran Suggestopedia. Jenis Penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang terdiri dari 2 siklus dimana setiap siklus dilaksanakan sebanyak empat kali pertemuan . prosedur penelitian meliputi perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan, observasi dan refleksi. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah murid kelas V SDN 26 Tolitoli berjumlah 26 orang, dengan rincian 15 murid laki-laki dan 13 murid perempuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada siklus  I nilai rata-rata hasil belajar murid sebesar 65,45 berada dalam kategori sedang pada siklus I, kemudian meningkat menjad i 87,50 dalam kategori tinggi pada siklus II. Kesimpulan dari hasil penelitian ini yaitu penerapan Strategi pembelajaran Suggestopedia dalam pembelajaran IPAS dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar murid kelas V SDN 26 Tolitoli. Berdasarkan  hasil  penelitian  tersebut  diatas,  dapat  disimpulkan  hasil belajar IPAS murid kelas V SDN 26 Tolitoli melalui strategi pembelajaran Suggestopedia mengalami peningkatan.

Abstract

This research investigated the pedagogical problems of EFL teaching practice in the rural area of Sampaga, in Mamuju. This research aimed: 1) To find out the EFL teachers’ pedagogical problems at Junior High School in Sampaga, Mamuju; 2) To find out how the EFL teachers solve the pedagogical problems at Junior High School in Sampaga, Mamuju. The research employed a descriptive qualitative design in the context of a case study. The participants were three Junior High School English teachers in Sampaga, Mamuju. The data were collected through interviews and observation. The result of the research showed there are five EFL teachers’ pedagogical problems found: 1) Very low ability to make lesson plans, 2) Less varied and innovative learning materials used in teaching, 3) Lack of up-to-date teaching methods and varied activities, 4) Limited knowledge of ICT, and 5) Lack of understanding of authentic assessment. This research also proposed ways to solve the problems based on the EFL teachers, as follow: 1) To increase the role of MGMP (Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran) as a forum for teachers to share knowledge and skills, 2) To encourage Regional Education Authorities to carry out teacher development activities in line with technological developments, 3) To ask the Government to provide more chance for teacher to develop themselves through Teacher Professionalism Training Program or continue to higher education.

Abstract

The research objective is to discover the students' vocabulary mastery difficulties. The method applied was descriptive qualitative. The sample of this research was class B students in 2 semesters at Madako University, and the data were obtained from interviews. The researcher took five students as a sample. The result of this research showed that students have difficulties in pronouncing the vocabulary. The students lack the self-confidence to pronounce the vocabulary because they fear producing it incorrectly. They feel too lazy to learn a new vocabulary, and the students have difficulties pronouncing the new words because the written and pronunciation are different. This research was conducted on students of the second semester class B in the English Department at Madako University, who have enough self-confidence in pronouncing the vocabulary because they are afraid to produce it incorrectly, they also feel lazy to learn new vocabulary because they did not know how to pronounce words correctly, and the written words and the pronunciation were totally different. Doing more practice and always being guided by the lecturer when practicing will help them solve their difficulties in mastering vocabulary.

Abstract

Verbal instruction is exceptionally vital among students. Interaction between teachers and students is still one-way, and there is no dynamic interaction between teachers and students or between students. This inquiry is about points to find the verbal interaction between teachers and students in lesson VIII SMP Negeri 3 Tolitoli. This inquiry utilized a clear subjective strategy; analysts utilized purposive sampling and utilized one instructor and 27 students in lesson 8B of SMP Negeri 3 Tolitoli. Information was collected from perceptions employing a video recorder and interviews among three gatherings with teachers and students to determine the verbal interaction between the two. This investigation shows that educator and student intelligence impact each other, and there is also an impact between educator and student verbal intuition during the learning preparation. Four sorts of verbal intelligence are utilized within the classroom to induce student reactions or vice versa: Intrapersonal, Little gather interaction, and Open interaction.
