Abstract

This phenomenological study explored the best practices of teaching Filipino 6 in Southeast Butuan District, Philippines, during the S.Y 2024-2025. Six experienced Filipino 6 teachers, recognized for their expertise, were purposively selected within the district. Data were gathered through semi-structured interviews with the teachers, focusing on their classroom management, lesson preparation, lesson delivery, utilization of instructional materials and assessment. Additionally, focus group discussions were conducted with students to gain insights into their perceptions of the teachers' practices. Thematic analysis was employed to analyze the qualitative data, revealing key themes related to effective teaching practices in Filipino 6. The Study found that experienced Filipino 6 teachers in the district demonstrate a strong understanding of effective pedagogical practices. These practices include creating a conducive learning environment, establishing clear rules and expectations, maintaining a clean and organized classroom, providing regular feedback, preparing well-structured lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, and employing diverse teaching strategies to engage students, utilizing learning materials and measure learning through valid and reliable assessment. Notably, there was a clear alignment between teacher practices and student perceptions, indicating that students are actively aware of and positively influenced by their teachers' efforts to create a structured and supportive learning environment. Based on the findings, a district-wide policy is proposed to monitor and enhance best practices through orientations, classroom observations, and continuous professional development for teachers. This policy aims to promote the use of technology, encourage collaboration among the teachers, and to ensure effective learning experience for all students in the district.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the insights, challenges and resiliency strategy of teachers teaching in the far-flung areas. The research employed the services of nine teacher-participants who qualified in the inclusion criteria such as serve in the locality for five years or more and must be a permanent teacher. Findings revealed that teachers face significant challenges including limited resources, difficult travel routes, and time management struggles. Despite these hurdles, they exhibit strong adaptability and resourcefulness, often relying on community engagement and personal resilience to navigate their demanding work environments. The study also highlights the crucial role of administrative support from the Department of Education in the form of professional development and resource augmentation—though many of these provisions fall short of lasting through the academic year. The research underscores the importance of enhancing existing DepEd policies, particularly in resource distribution, teacher localization, and sustained professional support. Additionally, community support emerged as a key factor influencing teacher retention, with those residing within their school’s community expressing a greater willingness to stay long-term. The findings advocate for a more inclusive, responsive, and sustainable approach to supporting teachers in remote areas to ensure equitable and quality education for all learners.

Abstract

This article investigates the educational and developmental impact of the scouting movement on junior high school learners in the Philippines, with a focus on three institutions: Consuelo National High School, Agusan National High School, and Father Saturnino Urios University. Drawing on a mixed-methods design with 171 participants, the study integrates quantitative data from structured surveys and qualitative insights from focus group discussions with scouting coordinators. Anchored in Youth Development Theory, Social Capital Theory, and Resilience Theory, findings reveal that scouting significantly fosters discipline, self-reliance, civic consciousness, patriotism, and teamwork. The study also uncovers implementation challenges such as resource limitations, insufficient institutional support, and parental concerns. Spearman correlation and multiple regression analysis confirm positive relationships between scouting program strength, stakeholder involvement, training quality, and the development of key student character traits. This article offers insights for educational policymakers and school administrators, recommending enhanced training, inclusive stakeholder participation, and strengthened institutional frameworks to fully realize scouting’s transformative potential in junior education.

Abstract

This study examined the effectiveness of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) programs implemented in schools across Esperanza, Agusan del Sur, emphasizing their impact on youth development. The research aims to evaluate how well these programs are meeting their objectives, particularly in the areas of health, education, social inclusion, peacebuilding, active citizenship, and economic empowerment. A quantitative research design was employed using a structured survey questionnaire distributed to youth participants engaged in SK programs. Data collection focused on assessing perceived program effectiveness and its correlation with key youth development indicators. Descriptive statistics, mean analysis, and regression analysis were utilized to analyze the data. Results show that SK programs were highly effective, consistently earning high implementation ratings. Notably, leadership (mean = 3.63) and problem-solving (mean = 3.65) were the most strongly developed competencies among participants. The study found that the programs significantly fostered confidence, enabling youth to plan, take initiative, and manage responsibilities. The study concludes that regular program evaluation, capacity-building for SK leaders, and policy refinement are essential steps to sustain and further improve the impact of these youth-centered initiatives. Strengthening these aspects will not only maximize the programs' potential but also ensure that the youth are effectively empowered to contribute meaningfully to their communities and society at large.

Abstract

Mirza Muhammad Nabi Wasil Kabuli, one of the great Persian literature poets of Afghanistan, flourished in the late 17th century and ignited the lamp of poetry and literature in his time. He composed very beautiful, attractive, and lively poetry. Both lexical and conceptual rhetorical devices can be found quite extensively in his ghazals. However, his work has not been viewed from this perspective until now. Thus, The general aim of this research is to study thirty selected ghazals of Wasil's Divan in systematic observation of lexical and conceptual rhetorical devices, so that readers become familiar with the elements of his poetry, elements of his verse, and his literary persona. This study is a theoretical study carried out on the library research and analytical-descriptive research method. The subject of our research is Divan of Wasil Kabuli, and the statistical sample of this research consists of thirty ghazals from his Divan of ghazals. The lexical rhetorical device, i.e., parallelism, alliteration, various types of repetition, and balance, and the conceptual rhetorical device, i.e., proportion, contrast, ambiguity, paradox, allusion, synesthesia, conjunction and division, chiasmus, and coordination of qualities, all recur very often in Wasil Kabuli's ghazals and make a contribution to the literary merit of the text along with the potency and joy of the poet's statement.

Abstract

This study employs Jeffries’ (2010) critical stylistics framework, focusing on the linguistic tool of "naming and describing," to analyze how media outlets construct ideological narratives in their coverage of sensitive political conflicts, specifically those involving Palestine and Lebanon. By examining selected news samples from two prominent Arabic-language channels, Al Jazeera and Al Arabiya, which hold contrasting political alignments, the research investigates how lexical and descriptive choices reflect their ideological orientations. The findings reveal how media language subtly shapes public opinion and constructs social realities, highlighting the role of linguistic strategies in framing political events.
