Abstract

The application of Islamic values in dormitory management plays an important role in forming a generation with good morals. This research aims to explore how the dormitory management applies Islamic values in forming a generation with good morals. In addition, this study also analyzes the parenting system applied and its effectiveness in shaping the character of foster children. Using a qualitative method through interviews with the head of the dormitory, this study examines the role of caregivers, the dormitory environment, and the educational programs applied. The results of the study show that an approach based on Islamic education, discipline habituation, and a reward and punishment system play an important role in building children's character. In addition, the presence of competent caregivers and appropriate coaching methods are key factors in the success of the boarding program. This study provides insight into the importance of a holistic approach in the care of orphans to support their development optimally

Abstract

This The teaching of classical Islamic texts (kitab kuning) in Islamic educational institutions has long relied on two traditional methods: bandongan (lecture-based group learning) and sorogan (individualized tutorial learning). Both approaches play a crucial role in enhancing students comprehension of the texts. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of these methods in the learning process of the Guided Book Reading (GBR) subject, particularly among students of the Sifir Robi’ A class at the Islamic Elementary School for Classical Text Studies (Madrasah Diniyah) of the Qomaruddin Islamic Boarding School (Pondok Pesantren Qomaruddin), located in Sampurnan, Bungah, Gresik, Indonesia. The research focuses on the implementation of the bandongan and sorogan methods, their influence on learning outcomes, and the academic achievement of the students. This study employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach, carried out in three stages. The preliminary stage (pre-cycle) utilized the bandongan method, while the sorogan method was applied during Cycle I and Cycle II. Each stage followed four procedures: planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The findings revealed that the average student score using the bandongan method was 67.17, with a learning mastery rate of 25%. After the application of the sorogan method in Cycle I, the average score rose to 68.75, and the mastery rate increased to 66.67%. Further improvement occurred in Cycle II, with a significant increase in the average score and a mastery rate reaching 70%. These results indicate that the sorogan method is more effective in enhancing students academic performance compared to the bandongan method. Therefore, the sorogan approach is considered a more effective strategy for the teaching of Guided Book Reading (GBR) within the context of Islamic boarding school education

Abstract

Qur'an memorization education (tahfiz) is an essential element in the Islamic education system aimed at preserving the purity of Allah’s revelation. With the advancement of technology, tahfiz learning methods have evolved from traditional teacher-student interaction models to modern approaches utilizing applications and online platforms. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of these two methods on the memorization speed of students at MA Assa’adah Bungah Gresik. A descriptive qualitative approach was applied, using observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation for data collection. The findings indicate that the traditional method fosters discipline and emotional bonding between teachers and students, while the modern method provides time and place flexibility but requires stronger self-supervision. This research contributes to the formulation of more optimal tahfiz learning strategies for Islamic edu$cational institutions

Abstract

The phenomenon of natural disasters is not only understood as a physical event, but in the theological perspective of Islam, especially Tawheed Rububiyah according to Ibn Taymiyah, disasters are a manifestation of the will and power of Allah SWT as the only Creator, Regulator, and Maintainer of the universe. This research aims to examine the meaning of natural disasters through the approach of monotheism rububiyah which is understood as part of reprimands, punishments, tests, and means of cleansing sins, all of which are reflections of the Divine will. The methodology of this research uses a qualitative-descriptive approach through literature study, by analyzing various Islamic literature, interpretation of the Qur'an, and Ibn Taymiyah's thoughts that are relevant to the theme of disaster and divinity. The results of the study show that natural disasters can be interpreted as a tool of spiritual and moral introspection for humanity, as well as a consequence of environmental damage due to human behavior that is not in accordance with the values of monotheism. In Ibn Taymiyah's view, the recognition of the rububiyah of Allah is not only a theoretical belief, but must be manifested in the form of an ethical and ecological responsibility to maintain the balance of nature. The conclusion of this study confirms that the understanding of monotheism provides a strong spiritual and ethical foundation in responding to natural disasters more wisely, making it a means to improve oneself, strengthen faith, and affirm the role of humans as the caliph of Allah on earth

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of Arabic vocabulary (mufrodat) learning in improving the speaking skills of second-grade students at MTs Pondok Pesantren Modern Alfatih Insani. The background of this research is based on the low mastery of vocabulary and students’ speaking abilities, compounded by a learning environment that has not fully supported the creation of an Arabic-speaking atmosphere. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through observation and interviews. The subjects of the study consisted of an Arabic language teacher and ten second-grade students. The findings indicate that vocabulary learning was conducted through talaqqi and memorization methods, supported by simple media such as a whiteboard, a pocket dictionary, and speakers. Students’ responses showed gradual improvement in their speaking ability, as observed through teacher interviews during Arabic learning activities. Nevertheless, challenges were identified, including low student motivation and a learning environment that was less conducive to fostering Arabic language habituation. The study concludes that vocabulary learning can enhance students’ speaking skills if supported by appropriate methods and a conducive learning environment.

Abstract

The development of education in the global era requires learning approaches that emphasize not only rote memorization but also conceptual understanding, critical thinking skills, and problem-solving abilities. The concept of deep learning in education emerged as a response to this need. David Ausubel’s meaningful learning theory is highly relevant in addressing these challenges, as it emphasizes the importance of linking new knowledge with the learner’s existing cognitive structure. This article aims to analyze the relationship between deep learning and Ausubel’s theory through a literature review of various national and international studies. The findings show that deep learning can be optimized through the implementation of advance organizers, activation of prior knowledge, and progressive differentiation. Therefore, Ausubel’s theory provides a philosophical and methodological foundation for developing meaningful learning practices in schools and universities.
