Abstract

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the use of hand-washing soap increased. Hand-washing soap using natural ingredients as active ingredients is still not widely developed. One plant that has been proven to inhibit the growth of bacteria is guava leaves. This research aimed to formulate and test the antiseptic activity of liquid hand-washing soap from guava leaf extract. The research method used was laboratory experimental, with stages including; preparation of guava leaf extract, liquid soap formulation with a preparation concentration of FI 5%, FII 6%, FIII 7%, FIV 8%, then the physical properties of the soap will be tested to determine its quality and quality. Apart from the physical test, an antibacterial activity test was also carried out to determine the antibacterial effectiveness of the liquid hand wash soap formulation using the disc diffusion method to determine the diameter of inhibition or area of the inhibition zone. The preparation formula of 7% to 8% concentration of the preparation can inhibit growthStaphylococcus aureus. The diameter of the inhibition zone formed is included in the strong category. Based on research, it can be concluded that guava leaves have the potential to inhibit bacteria S. aureus, and evaluation of the preparations of all formulas shows stability and good characteristics. Each concentration has a good antibacterial effect, where the higher the extract concentration, the greater the diameter of the bacterial growth inhibition zones. aureusresulting from.

Abstract

Dragon scale leaves (Pyrrosia piloselloides (L.) M. G. Price) have activity as antibacterial, antioxidant, antipyretic and as a febrifuge. In addition, dragon scale leaves also contain secondary metabolites such as flavonoids, polyphenols, saponins, tannins and steroids. the wound healing process includes abrasions, cuts, burns, stab wounds. The wound healing process has 3 phases, namely the inflammatory phase, proliferation phase, and maturation phase. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of total flvanoid by comparing the extraction of dragon scale leaves in healing cuts on boiler chickens (Gallus domesticus). The methods used are sokletation and maceration in the process of making thick extracts while in the research using experimental methods this research was carried out starting from the sample of dragon's scale leaves (Drymoglossum piloselloids) (L.) Presl), plant identification, making simplisia powder, making extracts, phytochemical screening, and determining total flavonoid levels using UV spectrophotometry and incision wound healing tests on broiler chickens (Gallus dzomesticus). The results of research on dragon scale leaf extracts using both maceration and sokletation methods in the process of making extractions on this plant have the same secondary metabolite content, namely flavonoids, saponins, tannins, steroids and glycosides, based on testing the total flavonoid content obtained of 3.875% in the sokletation method getting lower results compared to maceration, which is 4.235%. 235%, while in this wound test carried out by ANOVA and DUNCAN statistical methods in both methods get the same results that are significant, which means there is a significant difference between wound healing or the effect of the extract given. Dragon scale leaves with a percentage of 80% provide the best wound healing process, so it can be concluded that the two methods do not have much difference, it's just that when testing the total flavonoid content obtained the largest amount in the maceration method.

Abstract

Banana peel (Musa paradisiaca L.) has long been known to have various substances that are beneficial to health. The use of ethanol extract as a solvent also shows great potential to extract bioactive compounds from natural ingredients. One of the most common skin care products used in the skin care industry is Facial Wash. This product is made to cleanse and care for facial skin, such as acne control, anti-aging, or other skin care. This study aims to make a facial wash preparation with active ingredients from natural ingredients, so that it is rational to use as a facial cleanser. The basic facial wash is made first with a mixture of facial wash bases formulated into 4 formulas with varying concentrations. Evaluation of the preparation includes organoleptic tests, homogeneity, pH, spreadability, and irritation tests. All formulas with various homogeneous concentrations, pH 6 - 8, are stable in storage for 8 weeks. The results of the spreadability test meet the requirements of 5-7 cm, the average viscosity ranges from 30.7-34 cPs, the average foam height ranges from 4.0 - 6.2 cm and the results of the irritation test show that it does not cause irritation to the volunteer's skin.

Abstract

Testosterone is a hormone that plays an important role in sexual development and reproductive function. Infertility problems, decreased libido and erectile dysfunction are closely related to decreased testosterone levels in the blood. This study aims to see the effect of a mixture of ethanol extracts of bitter melon (Momordica charantia L.) and areca nut (Areca catechu L) on testosterone levels in male white rats. This study used the Sexual Behavior method. 30 Wistar rats were divided into 5 groups consisting of distilled water control, positive control (X-Gra®) 45 mg/kg BW, ethanol extract of bitter melon (EEBP) dose of 100 mg/kg BW, ethanol extract of areca nut (EEP) dose of 50 mg/kg BW and mixed group of EEBP:EEP (1:1), after 15 days, blood samples were taken and testosterone levels were analyzed. The data obtained were statistically analyzed with one-way ANOVA test and continued with Tukey's HSD test with 95% confidence level (p<0.05) using SPSS ver.20 software. The results showed that testosterone levels in the EEBP group at a dose of 100 mg / kg BW and a mixture of EEBP: EEP (1: 1) of 2.31 ± 0.84 ng/ml and 1.65 ± 0.54 ng/ml were not significantly different when compared to the distilled water control group (p < 0.05). Testosterone levels in the EEP group at a dose of 50 mg/kg BW of 3.43 ± 0.98 ng/ml showed a significant difference with the aquades control group (p<0.05). The mixture of bitter melon ethanol extract at a dose of 100 mg/kg BW and areca nut seeds at a dose of 50 mg/kg BW was not able to increase testosterone levels, while the ethanol extract of areca nut seeds given singly at a dose of 50 mg/kg BW could increase testosterone hormone levels in male white rats. Based on the results obtained in this study, it can be concluded that a mixture of bitter melon ethanol extract at a dose of 100 mg / kg BW and areca nut seeds at a dose of 50 mg / kg BW is not able to increase testosterone levels, while areca nut ethanol extract given singly at a dose of 50 mg / kg BW can increase testosterone levels in male white rats.
