Abstract

Diclofenac sodium is a Transfersom is a transdermal delivery system consisting of phospholipids and edge activators. Transfersom increases the size of the stratum corneum lipid barrier pores, then enters the skin through the drive of the trans-barrier motion and squeezes itself to follow the lipid barrier pore size. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the tween-80 concentration as an edge activator on the characteristics and diffusion rate of diclofenac sodium transfersom. Transferom preparation used the vortex-sonication method which was made in five formulae with variations in the concentration ratio of phosphatidylcholine and tween-80 (95:05, 90:10, 85:15, 80:20, and 75:25). The results show that all five formulae have different morphological forms. The results of statistical tests using One-Way ANOVA finds a significant effect (p-value) of the edge activator concentration on the diffusion rate of diclofenac sodium transfersom.

Abstract

Penyalahgunaan narkoba di kalangan pemuda dan remaja tidak dapat dipungkiri ternyata masih banyak yang mengkonsumsinya di lingkungan sekitar kita. Dampaknya bagi kesehatan dan masa depan tidaklah sedikit. Bahaya narkoba bagi pecandu dan kalangan muda, para pelajar sangat banyak dan jika tidak segera dihentikan kebiasaan mengkonsumsi narkoba maka hal ini akan memperburuk derajat kesehatan penggunanya itu sendiri secara pelan pelan tapi pasti serta akan merusak masa depan kehidupan mereka.. Dalam kehidupan bermasyarakat para pemuda atau pelajar membutuhkan suasana lingkungan yang kondusif dan nyaman dari penyalahgunaan narkoba, oleh karena itu penanggulangan narkoba menjadi tanggung jawab bersama dimulai dari keluaraga, kemudian masyarakat dan pemerintah. Melalui kegiatan pengabdian ini diharapkan mampu memberikan pemahaman kepada masyarakat di kabupaten karo tentang bahaya yangdiderita akibat penyalahgunaan narkoba , jenis jenis dan macam-macam narkotika serta bagaimana cara menanggulanginya. Metode yangdigunakan dalam menanggulangi narkoba adalah memberikan presentasi pemahaman yang benar tentang narkoba serta adanya diskusi tanya jawab seputar jenis jenis narkoba, bahayanya dan langkah langkah yang efektif agar masyarakat di Kabupaten Karo dapat menanggulanginya terlebih dahulu harus dimulai dari pribadi masing-masing keluarga, kemudian masyarakat dan pemerintah.

Abstract

Antibiotik merupakan obat yang penting digunakan dalam pengobatan infeksi akibat bakteri. Tingginya penggunaan antibiotika yang tidak tepat pada masyarakat disebabkan kurangnya pengetahuan tentang antibiotika yang menyebabkan meningkatnya masalah resistensi antibiotika. Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk melihat bagaimana tingkat pengetahuan masyarakat di Desa Tembung tentang penggunaan antibiotika. Pengabdian masyarakat ini merupakan Pengabdian masyarakat deskripsi, dengan metode pendekatan crosssectional, menggunakan instrumen berupa kuesioner. Total 30 responden dalam Pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah penduduk Lingkungan III, Kelurahan Tembung, Kecamatan Medan Tembung, Kota Medan. Hasil yang diperoleh dari pengabdian ini adalah peningkatan pengetahuan masyarakat di Desa Tembung entang penggunaan antibiotik yang tepat. Adapun Kesimpulan kegiatan ini adalah edukasi dan Penyuluhan dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat tentang penggunaan antibiotika.

Abstract

Broccoli belongs to the cabbage family and includes vegetables that are not resistant to hot air. Broccoli is efficacious to accelerate the healing of the disease and prevent and inhibit the development of cancer cells in the body, especially hormone-related cancers, such as breast cancer in women, and prostate cancer that threatens men. Therefore, it is very potential to be developed and made in gummy candies preparations so that consumers can be consumed for all ages (especially children). The objective of the research was to find out broccoli essence can be formulated into gummy candies with variations of sucrose as sweetener, test the quality of broccoli candies gummy candies preparations resulting from various physical tests and the results of the favorite level of gummy candies from broccoli essence with variations in sucrose levels as sweetener. In this research used formula 1 with the amount of sucrose levels 115 mg, formula 2 with the amount of sucrose levels 230 mg, formula 3 with the amount of sucrose content 345 mg, formula 4 with the amount of sucrose content 460 mg and formula 5 with the amount of sucrose levels 575 mg. Based on the results of the research, broccoli essence could be formulated into gummy candies preparations with sucrose variations, had an attractive shape and color with a distinctive odor, as well as a chewy texture and has a pH of 5 that was suitable for gummy candies, the results of the favorite level test showed formula 5 was the preferred one with a variation in sucrose levels of 575 mg. Variations in sucrose levels had an effect on the level of liking.

Abstract

Pakcoy (Brassica rapa L.) is a type of green vegetable that is still a group with mustard. Pakcoy is a vegetable of immigrants from abroad. This vegetable is popular especially among people of Chinese descent. Sawi pakcoy contains vitamin A and vitamin C. The use of sawi pakcoy as a nutraceutical product is still relatively rare. The objective of this research was to find out that sawi pakcoy juice (Brassica rapa L.) can be made into preparations nutraceutical gummy candies and can find out which formula respondents prefer the most and the results of the best physical evaluation in gummy candies preparations. Samples of sawi pakcoy were formulated into gummy candies preparations with variations in sucrose concentrations of 115 mg, 230 mg, 345 mg, 460 mg, and 575 mg. All preparations were tested by organoleptic testing, weight uniformity, pH test, stability and hedonics by respondents of color, taste, aroma/smell, shape, and texture, then the results were compared to requirements in the literature. The results of the evaluation of gummy candies preparations state that gummy candies preparations meet physical quality. From the data it could be concluded that the preparation of gummy candies from sawi pakcoy’s essence showed the most preferred test results of gummy candies preparations, namely formula 5 with sucrose levels of 575 mg. The coefficient value of variation for the weight uniformity test was best compared to other formulas was formula 5 which was 575 mg. The pH value for the entire formula was 5. From stability tests it was known that the most stable formula was formula 5 which was stored at room temperature (25 °C).

Abstract

Pepper elder (Peperomia pellucida) and green chiretta (Andrographis paniculata) are plants that have been used empirically to reduce fever. Fever is a symptom of a disease characterized by a significant increase in body temperature. This study aimed to determine the antipyretic effect of the combination of pepper elder herbal extract (P. pellucida) and green chiretta herbal extract (A. paniculata) (80:20) in the male house mice (Mus musculus). Extraction was conducted through maceration using ethyl acetate solvent. The total of 25 male mice were divided into 5 groups, namely a negative control group (Na-CMC 1%), a positive control group (paracetamol), and a treatment group induced by a combination of pepper elder herbal extracts and green chiretta herbal extract at the dose of (80 + 20), (40 +10), and (20 + 5) mg/kg BW. DPT vaccine 0.2 ml was used intramuscularly as a fever inducer. The observation was carried out at 30, 60, 90, and 120 minutes after treatment. The data obtained were analyzed using one-way ANOVA followed by the LSD test to determine the differences between groups. The results showed that variations in the dose of the combination of pepper elder and green chiretta herbal extracts had an antipyretic effect where the most effective dose was (80 + 20) mg/kg BW due to its stable temperature reduction power and effectiveness that are equivalent to paracetamol. Abstract

Coffee drinks are drinks that come from the processing and extraction of coffee beans. One of which is caffeine. Coffee contains approximately 24 of the most important substances. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of caffeine in coffee drinks from various types of packaging. The research stages include sample collection and preparation; identification of caffeine content; and examination of caffeine levels using UV spectrophotometry. The results showed that the three samples of coffee drinks sold at the minimarket in Jermal, Medan contained caffeine, and the levels of caffeine in coffee drinks were 26,352±0,292 mg/100mL (Sample A), 15,179±0,286 mg/100mL (Sample B), and 7,965±0,98 mg/100mL (Sample C). The caffeine content obtained meets the requirements of SNI, where the maximum amount of caffeine that can be consumed by the public in a day based on SNI is 50 mg–150 mg.

Abstract

Tanaman Lidahibuaya (Aloeivera L.) di Indonesia telah lamaidibudidayakan olehimasyarakat sebagaiitanaman obat keluargaisekaligus tanamanihias karenaibentuknya yangiunik. Lidahibuaya diketahui mengandung antrakuinon, saponin dan tanin yang memiliki sifat antibakteri. Kulit luar dan tengahibanyak mengandungiantrakuinon yangimemiliki efek antibakteri, sedangkanikulitidalam mengandung saponin yang juga memiliki efek antibakteri. Penelitianiini bertujuan untukimengetahui bahwa ekstrakietanol lidahibuaya memiliki kemampuan menghambatidan membunuhibakteri Propionibacteriumiacnes. dibuat secara maserasi dengan etanol 96%, kemudian dilakukan skrining fitokimia terhadap ekstrak. Ekstrakietanol lidah buayao(Aloe veraiL.) dibuat dalamilarutan uji konsentrasi yangiberbeda yaitu 3,125%,i6,25%,i12,5% dan 50%.iKontrol positifiyang digunakaniadalah tetrasiklin danikontrol negatifnyaiadalah DMSO.Hasil penelitian menunjukkanibahwa ekstrakietanol lidahibuaya mengandung flavonoid,osaponin, tanin, steroid/triterpenoididan antrakuinon. Konsentrasi hambat minimum (KHM)pditentukanidengan mengamati kekeruhanisecaraiin vitro danikonsentrasiibunuhiminimum (KBM) ditentukan dengan menghitung keberadaan koloni Propionibacterium acnes dalam cawan Petri. Berdasarkanipenelitian yang dilakukanidapat disimpulkanibahwa ekstrakietanol lidahibuaya mampu menghambatipertumbuhan Propionibacterium acnes pada konsentrasi 12,5% sebagai hambat minimum dan pada konsentrasi 25% sebagai bunuh minimum

Abstract

Analgesik merupakan zat yang meredakan atau menghilangkan rasa sakit tanpa kehilangan kesadaran. Tidak semua tanaman aman dikonsumsi, namun obat tradisional biasanya mempunyai efek samping lebih sedikit dibanding obat sintetik. Daun timun tikus mengandung flavonoid yang bekerja sebagai analgetik, dimana akan menghambat kerja enzim siklooksigenase sehingga akan mengurangi rasa nyeri. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kandungan metabolit sekunder, aktivitas analgesik, dan membandingkan aktivitas analgesik ekstrak daun timun tikus (Coccinia grandis (L). Voight) dengan kontrol positif metampiron 1%. Ekstrak daun timun tikus (Coccinia grandis (L). Voight) dibuat secara maserasi dengan etanol 96%, kemudian dilakukan skrining fitokimia terhadap serbuk dan ekstrak. Uji aktivitas analgesik menggunakan mencit jantan yang diinduksikan asam asetat, selanjutnya diberi perlakuan ekstrak daun timun tikus dosis 200mg/kgBB, 300mg/kgBB, dan 400mg/kgBB, kontrol negatif CMC 0,5%, dan metampiron 1% sebagai kontrol positif yang dilihat jumlah geliat tiap 5 menit selama 1 jam. Kemudian dihitung persentase daya analgesik dan persentase efektivitas analgesik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa daun timun tikus (Coccinia grandis (L). Voight) mengandung alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin, tanin, dan steroid. Ekstrak daun timun tikus (Coccinia grandis (L). Voight) memiliki aktivitas analgesik, dan ekstrak daun timun tikus (Coccinia grandis (L). Voight) dosis 400mg/kgBB paling mendekati aktivitas analgesiknya dengan kontrol positif metampiron 1%.

Abstract

Bunga Telang bukan hanya sekedar tanaman hias tapi banyak di manfaatkan sebagai obat tradisional. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui golongan senyawa metabolit sekunder yang terkandung dalam ekstrak etanol bunga telang dan daya sitotoksisitas ekstrak etanol bunga telang dengan melihat nilai LC50 yang diujikan dengan menggunakan metode Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT). Penelitian ini meliputi skrining fitokimia ekstrak bunga telang dengan metode Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT) untuk melihat jumlah kematian larva Artemia salina leach (LC50). Hasil pengujian skrining fitokimia menunjukkan bahwa bunga telang positif mengandung flavonoid, alkaloid, saponin, tanin, steroid. Hasil dari karakterisasi serbuk simplisia bunga telang diperoleh kadar air 6,66%, kadar sari larut dalam air 47,7%, kadar sari larut dalam etanol 38%, kadar abu total 6,03%, dan kadar abu tidak larut asam 0,60%. Hasil uji sitotoksisitas dengan analisis probit menunjukkan nilai LC50 yaitu 264,7890 µg/mL sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak etanol bunga telang bersifat toksik dan berpotensi sebagai antikanker.
