Abstract

Preoperative carcinoma mammae patients frequently experience diminished self-efficacy, which can impede their ability to cope with medical procedures and affect recovery outcomes. Family support is considered a crucial factor in enhancing self-efficacy, offering emotional, informational, and instrumental assistance that strengthens patients’ confidence. This study aims to explore the relationship between family support and self-efficacy in preoperative breast cancer patients at Abdul Moeloek Hospital, Lampung Province, in 2023. Utilizing a cross-sectional design, 78 respondents were selected through non-probability sampling. Family support was measured using a validated family support questionnaire, while self-efficacy was assessed through the Strategies Used by People to Promote Health (SUPPH) questionnaire. The results revealed that 85.9% of patients reported high levels of family support, and 88.5% exhibited strong self-efficacy. Statistical analysis, using the Chi-Square test, indicated a significant relationship between family support and self-efficacy (p = 0.003), reinforcing the theoretical framework of Bandura’s self-efficacy model, which posits that social support enhances individuals' confidence in overcoming challenges. The findings suggest that integrating structured family support programs into preoperative care can improve self-efficacy, ultimately leading to better patient outcomes. This research contributes to the understanding of psychosocial factors in cancer care, emphasizing the need for educational interventions targeting families to optimize patient recovery.

Abstract

This study explores the role of ideology in social psychology and psychoanalysis by drawing on the theoretical approaches of key figures such as Martín-Baró, Moscovici, Lacan, and Žižek. The research highlights how ideology functions as a structure influencing human subjectivity and actions, particularly through the mechanism of fantasy as articulated in Lacanian theory. Ideology is not only seen as an explicit system of beliefs but also as an unconscious process that shapes identification and social interaction. Through in-depth analysis, this study demonstrates that fantasy plays a crucial role in reproducing ideological structures, thereby enabling the persistence of the existing social order. The study also expands our understanding of how gender and political ideologies are produced and reproduced in everyday life. By integrating psychoanalytic concepts and ideological analysis, this research offers a new perspective on understanding human subjectivity within a social context and proposes a more comprehensive theoretical framework for analyzing the relationship between social psychology and ideology. These findings are expected to contribute significantly to the existing literature and encourage further research in this field.

Abstract

Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) are a prevalent form of Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAIs) in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), especially those undergoing urinary catheterization. It is estimated that UTIs affect up to 25% of catheterized patients, significantly impacting morbidity and healthcare costs (World Health Organization, 2021). This study aims to determine how health education regarding urogenital hygiene can increase knowledge and prevent infection for patients undergoing urinary catheterization. This research is quantitative descriptive using a case study approach. A one-group pre-test post-test design was employed to collect data through the administration of pre-test and post-test knowledge assessments before and after health education. The results demonstrated a significant increase in knowledge scores from 67 to 93, indicating the effectiveness of health education in enhancing knowledge about urogenital hygiene. Furthermore, observation of signs and symptoms of UTIs showed a decrease in symptoms during the patient's treatment, highlighting the positive impact of health education. Providing urogenital hygiene education effectively increases knowledge and mitigates the risk of UTIs during patient care.

Abstract

Obesity is one of the global health problems whose incidence is expected to continue to increase every year. Obesity in adolescents is caused by many factors including changes in lifestyle, physical activity, diet with food intake that exceeds the body's needs, improper eating behavior by consuming more fast food, packaged food, and food with unbalanced nutrients. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between macronutrient diet, fiber, and physical activity with the incidence of obesity at Nuris Jember High School. This method is an observational study with a case-control design. Sample selection using purpose sampling of as many as 81 respondents consisting of 27 cases and 54 controls. The research instruments used were weight measurement, height, SQ-FFQ form, and PAL. Data were processed using statistical applications using the chi-square test and if not eligible, the Fisher's exact test was performed with a significant value of p less than 0.005. The results of macronutrient consumption patterns and physical activity have a significant relationship with the incidence of obesity (p less than 0.005). While the study could not analyze fiber consumption patterns due to homogeneous results, the existing findings provide a solid foundation for targeted nutrition education programs and public health strategies. This study concludes that there is a relationship between macronutrient consumption patterns and physical activity with the incidence of obesity. This conclusion underscores the importance of balanced diets and regular physical activity in preventing and managing obesity among adolescents.

Abstract

Mistletoe lives as a semi-parasite on the almond tree (Prunus dolcis) within the borders of Hac?lar district of Kayseri province; by obtaining leaf plant extracts of (Viscum album ssp. album), Fusarium moniliforme and Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. Control and experimental groups were prepared to investigate the antifungal activity against melongenae. Dose-1 extracts prepared as 10mg/ml and Dose-2 extracts prepared as 20mg/ml were applied. Two application doses and a control group were applied for fungal pathogens in 6 replicates. In the control group, sterile distilled water was added. Mixed potato dextrose agar (PDA) containing plant extract was prepared as media. According to the Tukey/Kramer Test, different doses of V. album ssp. album extract were found to detect F. oxysporum f. sp. The effect on the development of Fusarium melongenae and Fusarium moniliforme was compared. Dose-1 and Dose-2 have a significantly higher F. oxysporum, f. sp. F. melongenae, and Fusarium moniliforme effect on colony development than the control. It was also examined whether there was a difference in effect between the two fungi, and it was observed that V. album ssp. album extract had similar effects on both fungal species. Statistical results (p< 0001) were significant at both doses. In conclusion, It was determined that mistletoe leaf extracts showed antifungal activity against both fungal species at Dose-1 and Dose-2 rates.

Abstract

Quality of life plays a crucial role in enhancing employee productivity. This study aimed to assess the relationship between job stress and quality of life among university staff, identifying types of stress that positively or negatively impact well-being. A total of 88 university employees participated, with data collected using the New Job Stress Scale and WHOQOL, both adapted into Indonesian. Analyses included one-predictor regression, product moment correlation, independent t-test, and one-way ANOVA to evaluate job stress and quality of life. The results indicated that job stress predicts quality of life and is correlated with all its domains. Specific components of job stress, such as working time, work-related anxiety, role conflict, work-life balance, and coworker support, were significantly related to overall quality of life. No significant differences in job stress were observed based on gender, age, type of work, length of service, education level, or marital status. Similarly, quality of life did not vary by gender, age, type of work, education level, or marital status. However, significant differences in quality of life were found based on service length, with employees working more than five years reporting better quality of life than those with one to three years of service. The findings suggest universities should implement stress management programs and improve work-life balance policies to enhance staff well-being, particularly for long-serving employees.

Abstract

This study explores the relationship between job training and employee performance at the Puskesmas of Pademangan District, North Jakarta. The study aims to examine how various components of job training, including training objectives, instructors, and materials, affect employee performance. Using a quantitative approach with a descriptive method, data were collected from 192 Puskesmas employees using a structured questionnaire. The results revealed a significant positive relationship between job training and employee performance. Specifically, employees who rated their training programs as "good" demonstrated higher levels of job performance. Statistical analysis using the chi-square test showed that all dimensions of training (objectives, instructors, and materials) were significantly associated with improved performance. These findings support existing theories on the importance of well-structured job training in enhancing employee productivity and service quality. The study concludes that ongoing improvements in training content and delivery methods will further enhance employee performance at Puskesmas. Recommendations for Puskesmas administrators include regular evaluation of training programs and tailored development initiatives to meet specific employee needs. Future research should investigate the long-term impacts of training and explore potential moderating factors such as organizational culture and employee motivation.
