Abstract

The objective of this research is to improve the Junior Secondary School students in writing the English recount texts through “CooLWAE“ (Cooperative Learning WhatsApp Electronic). This classroom action research with three cycles was conducted to the first semester students at VIII C academic year 2016/2017 at the State Junior Secondary School in Pakem Sleman. The research subjects included 32 students altogether. Data were collected using observation checklist, test, questionnaire, document, and anecdotal record. The obtained data were analyzed descriptively, based on the performance indicator as ≥ 75% achievement in writing recount texts in English. Results show that “Cool WAE Method could improve the students’ recount text writing competency. The performance indicators in writing recount texts consisted of: choosing clear idea, developing coherent paragraph, structuring sentence, constructing grammatical sentence, and using appropriate diction. The students’ mean score in writing recount text improved from 54.23 in pre-cycle to 62.51 in cycle 1; 62.51 improved to 74.96 in cycle 2 ; and 74.96 improved to 76.37 in cycle 3.

Abstract

The research objective was to apply the Problem-Based Learning (PjBL) with mofil media in science. This research was also endeavored to improve the students’ learning curiosity, involvement, activity, cooperation, discipline and learning outcomes of the ninth graders in the State Junior Secondary School 5 in Jambi. An Classroom Action Research was designed with two cycles and two sessions each cycle. Each action was observed using an instrument for both the students and teachers. While the students’ achievement was measured using a written test. The research results show that the students’ achievement in science is improved in cycle 2. While the students’ learning curiosity, involvement, activity, cooperation, and learning discipline are improved in cycle 2 after the implementation of the Problem-based Learning with mofil media.

Abstract

Based on mathematics instructional observation result in SDN 7 Lembang West Bandung regency, it founded low condition of mathematics conceptual understanding on fraction material that caused a low students learning outcomes. So that to solve this problem by developing papan pelangi media board. A board that consist of colorful blocks. The aimed of developing this papan pelangi is to increasing students learning outcomes and mathematics conceptual understanding. The leraning innovation development result shows students learning outcomes are arising, before using papan pelangi are in 60,33% rates, then increasing on first implementation to 70,33% and then increasing on second implementation to 82,67% rates. We can conclusing that this achievement is because the using of papan pelangi media where students are active in manipulating papan pelangi as mathematics conceptual understanding.

Abstract

Teachers must be able to innovate in learning that can create appropriate and visionary learning. This condition is the background of the research on learning innovation using the media of the Red and White Magnetic Stupa. The aims of this study was to describe the results of learning innovations using the media of Magnetic Red and White Stupa in Improving High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) and learning outcomes of VIIG class students at SMP Negeri 1 Rakit. This research is included in the type of classroom action research, with the subjects of the research of teachers and students of class VIIG SMP Negeri I Rakit, and research objects in the media of the Red and White Magnetic Stupa. Data collection using test techniques and data analysis is done qualitatively and qualitatively. The results showed 93% of students increased in the application of HOTS, learning outcomes increased, where 85% of students showed complete learning with an average value of 79.67. Thus it can be said that learning using media Magnetic Red and White Stupa can increase HOTS, learning outcomes, and in the end can strengthen students' character.

Abstract

An instructional media using Smartphone Android Beads smartphone was innovated to increase students’ motivation and learning outcomes on integer counting operations. Learning mathematics with Android beads has many advantages compared to ordinary beads for its durability, ease to carry, ease to use by students, and the unlimited number of beads to use. Employing the guided discovery learning, the media was used for 35 sixth graders. The effort was successful to increase the pupils’ motivation and learning outcomes. Ten steps were taken to produce Android bead learning media. ARCS questionnaires were used to measure the pupils’ motivation, and integer operating tests to measure students’ learning outcomes. It was found out that concerning motivation with a score range of 0-5, the students’ attention increased to 4.6; relevance to 4.1; confidence and satisfaction were respectively 4.6 and 80.0. The average value of pupils’ learning outcomes reached 80.0 with a total mastery learning of 88.57%.

Abstract

The research objectives were to improve the six-grade pupils’ achievement in cubic numbers by means of ‘bungnge tallo APATI’ media. Ninety percent six-grade pupils achieved the mathematical concept on cubic numbers below the minimum mastery level in public elementary school 90 in Singkawang. The pupils’ low achievement was related to two reasons, namely: learning activities on mathematical concepts were not attractive to pupils, and learning methods applied by the teacher were not procedurally systematic in explaining the cubic numbers. This classroom action research was conducted in two cycles with four phases, namely: planning, action, observation and reflection. Analysis results show the pupils’ mean score = 45.0 in pre-cycle; mean score = 64.0 in cycle 1 with minimum mastery level at 67%; and mean score = 89.0 in cycle 2 with minimum mastery level at . 100%. In conclusion, the implementation of ‘bungnge tallo APATI’ media in learning mathematical concept on cubic numbers could be improved for the six-grade pupils at elementary school 90 in Singkawang.

Abstract

The research objectives were to improve the pupils’ skill in note reading through graphic media with remote control and to identify the media’s strength at the elementary school. The media were designed with recycled remote control materials which would ease them in rolling note graphic paper in a distance. This research was designed using as a classroom research. The subjects were recruited from the fourth graders at the public elementary school 2 at Rejang Lebong. The results show the graphic media with remote control could improve the pupils’ understanding of low, medium and high tones. The media could also assist the pupils’ creativity, independence, and understanding of new songs. The pupils’ success exceeded the minimum mastery level after the implementation of note graphic media with recycled remote control.

Abstract

The research objective was to improve science learning effectiveness through environmentally-based science learning materials related to their day-to-day life. Pupils’ environment was meant to mediate awareness, comprehension, and solution to science problems logically, critically, accurately and creatively. Prior observation indicated the pupils’ understanding on plants’ fertilization was categorized as low. The research implemented a descriptive qualitative design. The subjects included children at the public elementary school 2 Gedong Tataan, Pesawaran District, Lampung Province. Data were collected by means of RISINGSTAR media, an acronym of ‘independent, crossed, neighbour, bartered‘. Data were analyzed descriptively focusing on the pupils’ learning achievement. Results show that RISINGSTAR media could improve their mean score = 80.33 with minimum master level of 93.33%. Moreover, their learning attitudes were categorized as creative, disciplined, and respected others.

Abstract

The research objectives are to improve literacy ability and creative thinking in learning through garbage media. Prior observation indicated that the fifth-grade children’s literacy and creative thinking in learning were presumably low. Literacy and creative thinking skills can be improved by the implementation of learning bases environment. Children’s literacy and creative thinking could be improved through learning integrated with learning sources taken from their environment. Learning sources taken from the environment may consist of anything natural including garbage. A classroom action research was conducted with its four phases, namely: planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data on children’s literacy was collected after action. Whereas their creative thinking was observed throughout learning. Research results show that children’s mean score on literacy = 68.00 with sufficient category in cycle 1 was improved to = 78.00 with good category in cycle 2. Their creative thinking skill was improved to = 71.00 with sufficient category in cycle 1; and their creative thinking skill was improved to 80.00 in cycle 2 with good category.

Abstract

The research objective was to improve the eighth-grade students’ learning outcomes on Human Kinestic System through TORSO PLUS Media at SMPIT Al-Qalam South Bengkulu A classroom action research was implemented to all the eighth grade students in two cycles with its four phases, namely: planning,action,observation,refelection. Data were collected by means of two instruments, they are: a test on concept comprehension and observation checklist. Data were analyzed descriptively using mean scores for the students’ learning outcomes, observation and minimum mastery level.Analysis results show that the students’ learning outcomes improved from 75.07 with minimum mastery level = 56.67% in cycle 1. Whereas, their learning outcomes improved to = 89.07 with minimum mastery level = 86.67%. In general, TORSO PLUS media could improve the students’ learning outcomes as well as the minimum mastery levels SMPIT Al-Qalam South Bengkulu.
