Abstract

Aedes sp. mosquitoes are insects that can transmit dengue fever to humans. Transmission is caused by mosquito bites and mosquito population density in an area can illustrate the potential for dengue transmission. Ovitrap index measurement can be used as one of the efforts to control and prevent dengue fever. This study aims to determine the presence and density of Aedes sp. mosquitoes by the percentage value of the Ovitrap Index (OI) in the Pasirangin neighborhood. In the study, the descriptive method was used by observing ovitraps and calculating the Ovitrap Index on ovitraps in Pasirangin Neighbourhood, RW 09 Kertasari Village. Ovitrap installation was placed inside and outside the house as many as 20 houses. The results showed that of the 40 ovitraps installed, the number of positive ovitraps was 15. Based on the calculation of the overall OI percentage, the result was 37.5 %. The ovitrap index criteria for the research location has a score of 3 (OI below 40 %), which indicates that the area has a moderate potential for dengue disease vulnerability

Abstract

The high cost of media for microbial culture encourages researchers to create alternative media using local raw materials at low prices. One of the most important media compositions for bacterial growth is protein. This content can be obtained from nuts, one of which is almonds (Prunus dulcis). The purpose of this study   is   to  find  natural   media  that    has   the   potential    for   the    growth of microorganisms at a low price. The  research method  used is an experimental method to determine the growth of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria on natural media of almonds. The results showed the growth of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria in this alternative media of almonds. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that  almond  nut  media  can  be  applied  as  an  alternative  medium in   laboratory research, especially in the field of_microbiology. It is suggested that further research should be carried out on natural media which are sources of carbohydrates and proteins as alternative growth media for bacteria.

Elderly is a process of aging with increasing age of the individual characterized by with decreased function of organs such as the brain, heart, liver and kidneys and increased tissue loss. One of the system disorders that are often experienced by the elderly is the cardiovascular system such as hypertension. Hypertension or high blood pressure is one of the global health problems that requires special attention today. Hypertension can be fatal if not properly controlled or commonly referred to as complications. Complications of hypertension occur due to organ damage caused by a very high increase in blood pressure for a long time. This situation can be overcome by providing SEFT therapy actions, the purpose of this literature review is to review articles related to SEFT Therapy. Where in the discussion of the Decrease in Blood Pressure of Hypertensive Elderly, the method used in writing this literature review is by searching sourced from electronic data hase includes Google Scholar from 2015-2020 using 15 journals related to SEFT Therapy management. The results of the literature review indicate that there is a relationship between SEFT Therapy and a decrease in blood pressure in hypertensive elderly.

Abstract

Elderly or old age is the end of a person's life span which is characterized by physical and psychological changes. Health problems in the elderly are various health conditions that commonly occur in older people. As a person gets older, they will experience comorbidities, such as metabolic disease, hypertension and diabetes mellitus, or as a complication of another disease they suffer from. In the context of elderly health, telemedicine is very important because it allows wider access to health services, especially for elderly people who live in remote areas or have other geographical obstacles. Several studies say that telemedicine is effective in improving the health of the elderly. The aim of this scoping review is to determine the effectiveness of telemedicine technology on the health quality of the elderly and to understand the mechanism of telemedicine technology in improving the health quality of the elderly. Method: Scoping review with literature search using PubMed, SCOPUS, SAGE Journals, Cambridge Core and E-Journal Springer/Springer Link databases with publication years 2020-2024. The findings showed that 10 selected published articles met the criteria and the results showed that telemedicine was effective in improving the health of the elderly.

Abstract

Fatigue is a condition that occurs after a strong and prolonged muscle contraction, where the muscle is no longer able to contract for a certain period of time. Activities that are too long can cause muscle fatigue. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of watermelon exocarp extract on glucose and lactate levels in rats after swimming activity. This research method was carried out experimentally for 7 days; the data was analyzed using the paired t test method to find out the significant differences between groups I, II, and III. The results of this study indicate that blood sugar levels and blood lactic acid levels were measured before and after treatment. Data analysis using the Fairy test gave significant results if P was less than 0.05. The results of this study showed that administration of exocarp extract 500 mg per kg orally gave a significant effect. significant on blood glucose levels and lactic acid levels in rats. In conclusion, in this study, administration of watermelon exocarp extract (Citrullus lanatus (thunb)) had an effect on reducing blood glucose and lactate levels in rats, the fastest decreasing at a dose of exocarp extract at a dose of 500 mg/kg bw blood glucose was 72.75 while at a lactate level of 2.75 mmol/L.

Abstract

Dyslipidemia is a condition of abnormal lipid profile in the blood such as an increase in total cholesterol, triglycerides (TG), Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL), and a decrease in High-Density Lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol. This study aims to compare the effects of watermelon exocarp extract (Citrullus lanatus (Thunb.)) and bay leaf extract (Syzygium polyanthum) and the combination of the two in lowering blood cholesterol levels. This research method was carried out experimentally for 7 days, the data were analyzed using the Paired T-Test, One Way ANOVA (Analysis of Variant), and LSD Post Hoc Test methods with sig = 0.05 to determine the significant difference between the 6 groups. The results of this study indicate the normality test results of cholesterol levels show the value of sig. > 0.05, it can be concluded that the data is normally distributed. In the one-way ANOVA test, it shows sig. <0.05 so it can be concluded that the average of the six test groups differed significantly. The LSD test showed that the treatment of the control group was positive with bay leaf extract, the watermelon fruit exocarp extract group with a combination of bay leaf extract and watermelon exocarp extract which had a sig value. > 0.05 which means there is no significant difference, while the other groups have sig values. <0.05 which means there is a significant difference. The conclusion on the LSD test obtained the value of Sig. > 0.05 which indicates that there is no difference. The greatest decrease in cholesterol levels occurred in the combination group compared to the single group.
