Abstract

Balance is the ability to stay in one position with good control. Children with a diagnosis of Down syndrome usually have decreased muscle tone (hypotonia) or muscle weakness, so that their balance is disturbed and they are more prone to falling when standing. Core stability and lower extremity strength exercise are expected to improve the ability of static standing balance in children with a diagnosis of Down syndrome. The aim of the study is to determine the effect of giving a combination of core stability and lower extremity strength exercises on the static standing balance ability in children with Down syndrome. This study uses a single subject research on a child with a diagnosis of Down syndrome who is given core stability and lower extremity strength exercise for 4 weeks to improve the ability of static standing balance. The ability of static standing balance in this study was measured using Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM). Measurements were taken before exercise was given (A1), follow-up (B) and final evaluation (A2). After being given exercise twice for four weeks, there was no increase in the GMFM score, so it was concluded that there was no increase in the ability of static standing balance in children with Down syndrome in this study. In conclusions, giving core stability exercise and lower extremity strength exercise twice for four weeks is considered not to be able to improve the ability of static standing balance in children with Down syndrome.

The researcher used three steps in this research. They were: pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The result of the pretest and post-test of the experimental group were 58.76 and 91.84, while the result of the pre-test and post-test of the control group were 60.36 and 70. 27. The result of the analysis showed that sig (2-tailed) was 0.000 (or <0.05. It means that there was a significant difference between the two means of post-test. Abstract

Acne vulgaris (AV) is a chronic inflammatory disease of the polysebaceous follicles of the skin. Lesions that can be caused by AV can be in the form of papules, pustules, modules, or comedones. Based on a preliminary study, many UNISSULA Medical Faculty students have AV and many use foundation. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the duration of using foundation and the incidence of AV in Unissula Medical Faculty students. This research is an observational study with a cross sectional design. The sample is a student of FK UNISSULA Class of 2019 and 2020 who uses a waterproof foundation. The exclusion criteria for the sample were students who had not passed the module, had many activities so that they slept < 6 hours, one week before the exam, one week before and during menstruation. There were 47 respondents of UNISSUA FK female students, 17 (36.2%) female students suffered from AV and 30 (63.8%) female students did not suffer from AV. The average duration of using waterproof foundation is 4.5 hours. The results of the analysis of the relationship between the duration of using the foundation and the incidence of AV using the Spearman test obtained p 0.001, with r -0.482. The conclusion in this study was that there was a relationship between the duration of using the foundation and the incidence of AV with a moderate correlation.

This study made use of qualitative descriptive method. The technique of collecting data was conducted through participant observation supported by in-depth interviews and documentation. The subjects in this study were thirteen informants. The paradigm used in this study was the constructivist one with the sociometric theory proposed by Jacob Moreno Levy and supporting theories, such as the West Turner Groupthink theory and Group Cohesiveness as main theories. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that in maintaining relationship, the communication patterns used by the Semarang Kumis community are categorized as horizontal or literal communication patterns. The relationship maintained is akind of relationship which forms solidarity among its members through the use of information and communication technology, such as Whatsapp social media platform. Also, frequent meetings or face-to-face gatherings among members allow them to maintain open communication as to minimize communication misunderstandings and cohesiveness in the Semarang Kumis community which keep cooperation and solidarity well. The number of respondents, who was only 13 informants, is certainly not able to describe the real situation since the object of this study only focused on communication patterns. Therefore, it is expected that the results of the study can be used as an example or reference in gaining information for further studies in the same field with different research object, regarding with a community’s communication patterns in maintaining relationship.

Abstract

The present qualitative research aims to investigate teacher policy in Indonesia viewed from international teacher standard revealed in the Teacher Policy Development Guide of United Nation. There are four dimensions as the focus of analysis: underpinning values, the purpose, key principles of implementation and key dimension for comprehensive teacher policy. Content analysis was employed to gauge the data from the rule of law on teacher and lecturer in Indonesia number 14 year 2005 about teacher and lecturer that is more specifically broken down into policy number 74 year 2008 about teacher. In addition, the researcher carefully investigated four dimensions revealed in the Indonesian teacher policy document as well as highlighted the results in the form of table. The findings confirmed that Indonesia has a comprehensive policy dealing with education system and teacher which reflects several international standards and features as well as accommodates local values. On the other hand, teacher policy in Indonesia is still presented in general language instruction without a specific implementation guide. To conclude, both policies have different languages and terminology in some extend but it has the same basic idea in terms of human right and democratic values both in the context of teacher policy and education in general.
