Abstract

Radical ideology is a latent threat that may arise any time. The spread of global radical ideology is aimed to the students who are members of Islamic student organizations. The characteristics of students which are open, easy to accept new things, critical, and having high spirit are used by many terrorist organizations to spread their radical ideology. The students who have already embedded radical ideology would be easy to commit terrorism actions such as murdering, kidnapping, robbing, and bombing. This research aims to determine the role of effective parentschildren communication, peer group, and selfconcept in neutralizing radical ideology which is followed by the students. In the short term, this research is expected to produce a model in handling radical ideology based on effective parents-children communication, the role of peer group, and self-concept. In the long run, this model is expected to prevent and neutralize radical ideology which is followed by the young generation so that they could be the successor of national struggle. Abstract

AbstractThe process of stigmatization in mass media encompasses the organization of news production. The journalistic routines of hunting, editing,and writing facts underlies the process of stigmatization. Researcher applies critical discourse analysis using three models of analysis—text, social cognition, and social context—from Teun van Dijk. Researcher puts analysis on news about terrorism taken from Kompas, July-October 2009. Kompas news discourse on terrorism, characteristics of terrorist, and description of the terrorist’s relatives is a reflection that comes from the facts and a representation of the given reality. Mass media plays a role as an arena that represents social facts relying on its newsmaking construction. In representing those social facts, mass media does not work autonomously. It depends on the economical, political, and social interests and publisher intervention. It is about how to select sources, facts, and facts presentation manifested in text to put emphasis on assumption that framework in news production integrates with its vested interests. Keywords: stigmatization, mass media, terrorism, critical discourse analysis

Abstract

The efforts to involve netizens in disseminating information about the candidates of president and vice president became a significant campaign strategy in the Indonesian’s president election 2014, especially for the beginners and middle-class voters. It is to confirm that the country with experienced a long period of authoritarianism tends to begin the political consciousness by rising awareness in which the community has turned into an active community and full of ideals. The middle class is the appropriate target for political campaign in social media, because of their highly movement in the cyber space. The other reason the new voter (beginners) are also targeted in the social media campaign during the Indonesia’s president election because their frequent access to social media. By using thick description of qualitative methods, the study illustrates how Indonesians netizens play a role in political communication strategy in social media during the campaign period. The future of Indonesia democracy should consider the role of netizens in order to develop ideal political communication strategy.

Abstract

Pekalongan is one of the citiesin Indonesia that undergo arapid development in various fields. One of thestands out economic activity of the town is Pasar Tiban. Pasar Tiban is a term used for a traditional market which opened without any legal approval from the local government. Based on the data taken from Disperindagkop and UMKM Pekalongan, there are 28 pasar tiban spread across the city in 2014. Eventhough it is ilegal, somehow it moves the informal sector of the city. However,its development has caused social problems such astraffic jam, disorder, anddiscomfort. Its existencehas violatedthe ActNo.22of 2009 on Traffic and Transportation (LLAJ Law), Article number 275 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 28 paragraph (2), and Act No. 22 of 2009, which regulates the use of the road and side walk. In- depth research has to be done in order to findthe best solutionto overcomethe phenomenonof Pasar Tiban. The purpose of this study is to create a communication strategy to relocate Pasar Tiban without neglecting the interests of traders and communities. This research was conducted by combining quantitative and qualitative research methods. Quantitative data are obtained from the questionnaire, where as qualitative data are obtained from in-depth interviews as well as field observations. The result showsthe importance of coordination and unity among local leaders, SKPD, and Police so that the relocation can be done without any friction. Although most traders do not agree with therelocation there are some traderswho are willing tobe relocated if the concept and the srtucture if the new area is good enough and able to improve their we lf are. In a communication strategy, theobjectives of an action should be clearly defined so that the traderscould easily accept, understand,and are willing to follow all the stages needed for the relocation. The selected communication strategy includes fourt actics, namely; Interpersonal communication, Organizational media, Newsmedia, Advertising and Promotional Media Tactic. Abstract

The development of technology gave birth to a new profession. Millennials plunge into online motorcycle taxi drivers. The presence of various online transportation applications such as Go-Jek, Grab, Uber opens wide opportunities to become partners. Millennials are not ashamed but feel proud. The motorcycle taxi profession which is often underestimated is now in demand by various groups. This study aims to explain the changes in the construction of the meaning of motorcycle taxi drivers in the perception of students who become online motorcycle taxi drivers. The change in meaning construction has made the online motorcycle taxi profession attractive to the younger generation. Changes in construction will be described in various stages of the scheme, the process of externalization, objectification and internalization of values. This research strategy is phenomenological research. The basic question according to Patton (2002) is to find out the essence of experience. Littlejohn (1999: 199) defines phenomenology as the study of experiences that come from consciousness or the way we understand something by consciously experiencing something. Hegel (in Moustakas 1994: 26) states that phenomenology refers to experience as arises from consciousness, he further explains phenomenology is the science of describing what a person receives, feels and knows in his direct awareness and experience. What arises from consciousness is what is called a phenomenon. With this strategy, the researcher seeks to obtain a systematic, logical and coherent reflection of the reality phenomenon about the motorcycle taxi profession

Proses migrasi penyiaran televisi analog ke digital di Indonesia menyisakan beragam persoalan yang harus dibenahi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tanggapan dan kesiapan TV Lokal di Jawa Tengah memasuki era penyiaran digital. Hal ini penting agar proses migrasi membawa keuntungan dan eksistensi bagi keberadaan TV Lokal di Jawa Tengah. Abstract

Desa Karangjompo di kecamatan Tirto adalah salah satu desa di Kabupaten Pekalongan yang terdampak banjir selama lebih dari 5 tahun. Salah satu penyebab banjir adalah buruknya perilaku warganya yang masih belum memiliki kesadaran tinggi untuk menjaga kebersihan saluran drainase sehingga tidak berfungsi maksimal. Selain itu kebiasaan warga menggunakan air bawah tanah yang tidak terkontrol telah memperburuk terjadinya land subsidence yang memperparah banjir. Banjir telah merusak fasilitas umum dan rumah warga, serta telah mematikan berbagai tanaman dan tumbuhan yang ada. Desa menjadi minim penghijauan. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah untuk mengajak warga melakukan penghijauan sekaligus memberikan informasi dan mengedukasi warga mengenai pentingnya menjaga lingkungan melalui kampanye komunikasi lingkungan dengan media tanaman. Evaluasi keberhasilan program dilakukan melalui diskusi yang melibatkan ibu-ibu anggota arisan. Dimana hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa secara umum warga telah menunjukkan perubahan sikap sampai pada tahap konatif, tetapi belum menunjukkan perubahan perilaku sebagaimana yang diarapkan.Karangjompo village in Tirto sub-district is one of the villages in Pekalongan Regency that has been affected by flooding for more than 5 years. One of the causes of flooding is the bad behavior of the residents who still do not have high awareness to keep the drainage channels clean so that they do not function optimally. In addition, the uncontrolled habit of using underground water has led to land subsidence which has exacerbated flooding. The floods have damaged public facilities and residents' homes, and have killed various existing plants. The village has minimal greening. The purpose of this community service is to persuade residents to replant as well as inform and educate them about the importance of protecting the environment through a communication campaign with potted plants as media. Evaluation is carried out through discussions involving housewives who are members of arisan. The result was shows that society has changes in their attitudes to the conative stage, but has not shown in behavioral changes as expected.

Abstract

In various parts of the world terror events and the perpetrators became news materialof interest to the media. The news about terrorism is also a part of the constructionprocess. It is no less important in the effort to eliminate terrorism in Indonesia is acounterterrorism movement that emphasizes aspects of prevention rather than theact of terror. This study aims to see how the mass media in Indonesia to constructcounterterrorism messages. The paradigm of this research is a constructivist paradigmthat differs from other paradigms in epistimology, ontology, axiology, and methodology.Framing analysis, as an analytical technique in this study, belongs to the paradigm ofconstructivism. This research uses framing analysis method of Pan and Kosicki. Theresults showed Framing Detik.com emphasized the news hardnews in the news ofterrorism during the year 2017. Metrotvnews.com put forward the testimony of thenews with resource persons manta perpetrators of terror as a counterterrorism effort.Kompas.com put forward the ofcial source of the police and BNPT in constructing themessage kontraterosime. Viva.co.id praised the police performance and emphasized theaspect of lone wolf (single terrorist) as the exception of structured terrorism handling  Di berbagai belahan dunia peristiwa teror dan pelakunya menjadi bahan berita yang menarik bagi media. Pemberitaan tentang terorisme juga merupakan bagian yang tidak terlepas dari proses konstruksi. Hal yang tidak kalah penting dalam upaya menghapus terorisme di Indonesia adalah gerakan kontraterorisme yang menekankan aspek pencegahan daripada penindakan terror. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat bagaimana media massa di Indonesia melakukan konstruksi pesan kontraterorisme. Paradigma penelitian ini adalah paradigma konstruktivis yang berbeda dengan paradigma lain dalam hal epistimologi, ontology, aksiologi, dan methodology (Guba dan Lincoln 2005). Analisis framing, sebagai teknik analisis dalam penelitian ini, termasuk ke dalam paradigm konstruktivisme. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis framing Pan dan Kosicki. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan Framing Detik.com menekankan pemberitaan hardnews dalam pemberitaan terorisme selama tahun 2017. Metrotvnews.com mengedepankan testimony pemberitaan dengan narasumber manta pelaku terror sebagai upaya kontraterorisme. Kompas.com mengedepankan sumber resmi dari kepolisian dan BNPT dalam mengkonstruksi pesan kontraterosime. Viva.co.id memuji kinerja kepolisian dan menekankan aspek lone wolf (teroris tunggal) sebagai pengecualian penangan terorisme yang terstruktur.

Abstract

Upaya pemberantasan korupsi meliputi dua aspek besar yaitu penindakan dan pencegahan. Salah satu upaya berkelanjutan untuk mencegah korupsi adalah terinternalisasinya sikap antikorupsi dalam diri setiap elemen bangsa ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan peran komunikasi melalui peer group di organisasi kemahasiswaan dalam membentuk perilaku antikorupsi. Strategi penelitian ini adalah fenomenological research. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa komunikasi dalam peer group memberikan kontribusi penting dalam pembentukan perilaku antikorupsi di kalangan mahasiswa. Dalam organisasi kemahasiswaan mereka tidak hanya membicarakan teori normative tetapi juga mempraktekan penggunaan anggaran keuangan yang berpotensi korupsi. Organisasi kemahasiswaan ibarat miniatur organisasi, instansi, lembaga yang menjalankan fungsi penganggaran, penggunaan, pengawasan dan pelaporan anggaran keuangan.
