Jurnal ini terbit dua kali dalam satu tahun, pada bulan Juni dan Desember. Mulai tahun 2020, akan terbit setiap bulan April dan Oktober. TELAGA BAHASA is a journal aiming to publish literary studies researches, either Indonesian, local, or foreign literature. All articles in TELAGA BAHASA have passed the reviewing process by reviewers and edited by editors. Telaga Bahasa is published by Kantor Bahasa Gorontalo twice a year, June and December. For the 2020 issue and on, this journal will be published on April and October)

Abstract

This research aimed to describe the variety of Javanese culture that contained in novel Mars by using the theory of literary anthropology. The source of data was novel Mars.The purpose of this paper is to describe the Javanese cultures on novel Mars. Data were analyzed using descriptive-qualitative method with literature review technique. The results of the analysis showed the diversity of Javanese culture that exists in the novel of Mars in the form of traditions and customs, arts, traditional buildings, religions, and traditional beliefs. Javanese culture has been eroded, but some are still routinely held every year.

Abstract

Antonym study is an important part of semantic. This research problemincludes how the form of antonym in Banjarnese language based on word classes and how to prove that level of antonym based on the characteristic of the word classes. The aims of this research are to describe the form of antonym based on the word classes and to prove that level of antonym based on the characteristic of the word classes. The methodology used for data collection refers to observation method with recording and writing techniques. The data source comes from the public speech of Banjar people in Loktabat Village, Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan Province. The data were taken from January to June 2016. At the phase of analysis, the data were analyzed using the expansion technique. The results of data analysis were presented in narrative descriptive with informal and formal method. The result of this research had shown adjective class, verb, and noun. The proof of the pairs obtained is the antonym word pairs in their respective classes; it corresponds to the characteristics in each class.

Abstract

In one of the 13 October 2016 news, this Detiknews media online shows certain ideology to the 2017 Jakarta Governor Election. To find out the ideology or the perspective of the media to the election, the writer analyzes the news text using critical discourse analysis theory of Norman Fairclough. Yet, the writer limits the analysis only on the description of the vocabulary, grammatical, and textual structure. The study uses a descriptive qualitative method, while the data is analyzed by using the equivalent method. The equivalent method is used to analyze the meaning of vocabulary, phrase, or sentences in the article. The data is collected by using deep-listening and note-taking techniques. The analysis result shows that Detiknews media online in “Panasnya Pilgub DKI: Ada Upaya Serius Ganjal Agus-Sylvi, Ada yang panik?” of 13 October 2016 uses vocabulary of expression to attract readers. It also uses many active sentences. As in textual structure, the text has been affected situationally, socially, and institutionally.

Abstract

This paper aimed to examine the shape and meaning of prefix se- inIndonesian and their equivalents and describe their function in Suwawalanguage. This research was descriptive based on the theory of Keraf andChaer in Affixation. The analyzed data in this research was DictionaryBahasa Indonesia - Suwawa compiled by Prof. Mansoer Pateda and YennieP. Pulubuhu. It was found that from seventh meaning/function of pfefiks se-in Bahasa Indonesia, there are four functions that have no similar meaningor function in Suwawa language, which are: ‘declare all’ or ‘entire’; toexpress the meaning of ‘resembling or ‘like’; to declare ‘amount’; andimplies ‘the most’.

Abstract

The issue of power between men and women in the construction of patriarchal culture becomes very interesting. Women become parties repressed by the power of men because of the cultural construction formed by men. One of the media that can be used by women to resist construction is literary work. The object of this research is a novel entitled Garis Perempuan by Sanie B. Kuncoro. Within the concept of structuralism, the writer aims to identify the behavior, mindset, and myths concerning women that are represented in the novel. The writer uses gender and representation theory to identify the representation of women. The method used in this paper is descriptive-analytic with an objective approach. The objective approach by analyzing intrinsic elements based on the empirical facts contained in the work. The result shows that women are represented as colonized and feminist.

Abstract

The social interaction in multilingual societies and the availability of multiple languages requires each speaker to have the ability to precisely choose the language or variety of languages which appropriate to the communication situation. By raising the case of language selection patterns based on language events and age categories in the language selection of Bugis ethnic in Donggala Regency, this study aimed to (1) describe the pattern of language selection in family domain of Bugis ethnic based on the language event and age category, and (2) analyse the factors underlying the selection of languages based on the language event and age category. The method used is a sociolinguistic approach with questionnaires, interviews, observations, and recording techniques, then the data had been analyzed based on the percentage pattern of the language selection. The result indicated that Bugisnese ethnic in Donggala Regency still chooses Bugisnese language as their communication tool n based on the event of language and age category. The Age of 28-49 and 50 years and above strongly maintain and choose to use Bugisnese language, while among the 11-15 years old and above the use of Bugis language are beginning to decline.

Abstract

This “Pembidas “of Ajamuddin Tifani is a poetry that has lots of positivemeanings. The purpose of this study was to understand the integral meaning of poetry Pembidas by Ajamudddin Tifani by using a hermeneutic approach. The problem of this study describes the meaning of Pembidas by using hermeneutic approach. This study used descriptive qualitative method with data analysis technique in each line of poetry and then proceeded as a whole. Based on the result of the analysis, it can be seen that the meaning of Pembidas is about the disobedient of human against his/ her God. This has actually taken place for a long time since the days of the Madyan, Rass, Thamud, and Sodom. They are the people who make idols and passions as their Lord. However, in modern times like this, their disobedient is slightly transformed. They continue to worship idols, but not as sculptures but in the form of money, possessions, and technology.

Abstract

The Javanese language is one of the Indonesian local languages with thelargest speakers. Meanwhile, there is anxiety that has been rise lately about the existence of Javanese language since the use of it in communication had been drastically decreased. This research uses mixed methods of qualitative and quantitative to obtain the areas and reasons why the Javanese language had been used among young marrie couples in ex-Semarang regency. The result of the study showed that the use of Javanese language found in six areas; familyhood, neighborhood, working area, friendship, trading area, and public space. The reasons of the using of Javanese language is simply because the majority of the society were native speakers; so it has been commonly using since early age; to develop warm and unformal relationship; to give language lesson and example to children and to other people; the expression of politeness and honors; to eliminate awkward and overact feeling when use Indonesian language, so that the communication would be easier to understand.

Abstract

Afi N.F., a student of SMA Negeri 1 Gambiran Bayuwangi had been stolenthe attention of the Indonesian people in May 2017. Afi N.F. upload an article on Facebook titled 'Warisan' is getting massive attention from the community and at the same time triggered the debates among social media users. This study aimed to express the meaning contained in the article. This research used critical discourse analysis of Fairclough Model. The research data was taken from the triggered titled “Warisan”. Data analysis technique using an interactive model. The results showed a significant message to all the Indonesian nation to maintain tolerance, especially in social media that is prone to friction among its users. In the article, Afi had been highlighting the issues of identity, such as religion, ethnicity, race, and nationality are inherited from parents, as she stated in her writing. Afi also invites all the people of Indonesia to live the Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, and also the motto of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika so the life of religious tolerance will be maintained.

Abstract

The problems discussed in this study is language errors in the essays ofIndonesian language teacher of junior high school in Kotabumi, LampungUtara. This study aimed to describe teachers' language errors in spelling,diction, morphology, and sentences. The method used in this research was descriptive which means that data sources are in the form of the teacher’s essays. From the analysis the spelling errors that can be identified is the punctuation errors include the use of comma, colon, semicolon, quotation, single quote, and hyphen; the errors on writing include the use of capital letters, foreign language element, numbers, and word combination. Diction errors include the use of non-standard words and words that inappropriate. Morphology errors include the use of the incorrect word formation and the words are not in accordance with a sentence. The errors on the use of sentence include a mismatch, the vagueness of subject and predicate, the absence of a subject, predicate, and object in the sentence, and the sentence which only has a caption, the use of coordinator and subordinator conjunction at the beginning of single sentence, and incoherence.
