Abstract

Teaching and learning process can be defined as a transformation process of knowledge from teachers to students. It is referred as the combination of various elements within the process where an educator identifies and establish the learning objectives and develop teaching resources and implement the teaching and learning strategy. On the other hand, learning is a cardinal factor that a teacher must consider while teaching students. The paper evaluated various academic journals, pedagogy, and inclusive practices to assess the teaching effectiveness within the higher education setting. The objective of the research is to assess the teaching effectiveness in a higher education setting. The research used experimental research methods (primarily reflection) using literary forms to analyse the theory with the reinforcement of the practice from the university experiences. The research findings suggest that providing positive and adequate formative and developmental feedback, introduction of role-play has a profound positive impact on the students' confidence and self-esteem. It was also revealed that, active learning environment promotes inclusivity and improve the faculty and student academic performances. The research findings will enable the educators to help create and implement an inclusive teaching and learning environment to improve the learner’s expectation and academic performance.

Abstract

International postgraduate candidates of Universities in Nanjing come from diverse backgrounds and experiences. These students face several problems, especially in writing the research proposals. The purpose of this study was to investigate the perceptions of postgraduate students in writing the research proposal. The quantitative research design was used, which involved the use of online questionnaires. A sample of 320 international postgraduate students and 20 supervisors selected at random from Universities in Nanjing were used for the study. Study findings pinpoint towards the general problems to international postgraduate students' research proposal writing skills. Grounded on the results, the researcher concludes that identifying research gaps, reviewing and criticizing literature, and finding enough evidence to support the research proposal are significant problems for most postgraduate students in writing the research proposal. The study further concludes that these problems are due to lack of research materials, time constraints, low level of engagement with supervisors, and supervisors' hostile attitude. Understanding the language and concept of research is not a reason for postgraduate difficulties in a research proposal as identified by other literature. In this regard, the solutions to these problems for postgraduate students are effective supervision, students cultivating the habit of reading sufficient literature, supervisors giving equal attention to international postgraduate students, ample time for research, timely feedback, and supervisors' availability.

Abstract

The current technology era has provided education with a significant position to survive a society in this globalized world. However, Pakistan has made several efforts to raise the country’s education status but still unsuccessful in achieving the targets, for instance, struggling with low literacy. The current situation is mainly due to the poor implementation of educational policies. Therefore, a critical analysis of Pakistan education policies was done to understand the root causes of poor implementation and provide suggestions to resolve the weak areas. The study was followed by adopting a retrospective approach to review past literature, i.e., Education policies, research articles, project reports, and related literature. The study identified several barriers: excessive expectations, centralized targets, ambiguous objectives, political influence, inadequate funding and resources, lack of collaboration, scarcity of teachers’ professional development, and poor supervision. In conformity with the findings, some recommendations are also proposed. It is further claimed that local needs should be taken under consideration at the time of policy formulation to prevent policy failure. Targets of the educational plans should be formulated based on reality-oriented, thereby can be understood by everyone and may achieve easily. Furthermore, teachers should be facilitated with ongoing training programs to upgrade their knowledge and skills.

Abstract

The cognitive view of life and the total environment that an individual holds or which is characteristic of a society's members is frequently referred to as Weltanschauung, or world view. It is thus the life scene as people look out upon it. Worldviews grow with cultures. Generations of anonymous human beings contribute to the unending quest to make the unknown knowable, to transform meaningless bafflement into meaningful understanding. There are individuals in every society, no doubt who are thinkers and systematizes, the idealists who crystallize the myths, shape the ceremonies, express the concepts in art – symbolic creators. However, even they must work within the cultural framework. The tribal people are known to have a strong worldview. The way they perform, perceive and explain the natural and supernatural phenomenon, social and cultural events, relationships within themselves and outside, and diseases and grievances reflect a manifestation of their concept of different aspects of life, often referred to as ‘worldview’. However, tribal knowledge has often been criticized as unscientific or incoherent with science, and therefore, lacks philosophical explanation. The present study, therefore, aims to investigate tribal worldviews. This paper acknowledges that since each tribal group is unique and different from one another, it is not possible to discuss their various worldviews in this paper. However, this paper attempt to x-ray basic assumption that cut across most tribal worldviews.

Abstract

Does the communitarian perspective on politics offer a credible account of the conception of the relationship between the self and the other, which can provide a valid conceptual basis for justice among states? How does the understanding of the state as a nation-state impact the possibility of international justice? These questions constitute the primary concern of this work. It must be mentioned that although any attempt to analyze the international realm through the lens of communitarianism would necessarily entail invoking the politics of nationalism, this study deals with nationalism only to assess how communitarianism contributes to international justice. The study is not concerned with the validity or authenticity of a people's claims to nationalism; rather, the aim is to work out a communitarian perspective on international justice. This work argues that though the communitarian understanding of justice does offer a valid and credible account of the conception of the self and his relationship with the other, it fails to apply to the international context. Justice can only be required, negotiated, and implemented among members of a community. To understand international justice, what is required is the recognition of common humanity, a commonly shared conception of the good outside the boundaries of the nation-state. The communitarian perspective does not offer space for such recognition.

Abstract

The present study looks at religious diversity and the role it plays in a school in India. The Constitution of India under Article 25-28 protects the freedom of religion in the country. The secular ideals are the core guiding principles of the society, which were incorporated by the 42nd Amendment to the Preamble of the Indian Constitution. Therefore, the study tries to look at religious practices, attitudes, values, and beliefs to understand religious diversity. It also tries to understand the views of parents, teachers, and students to contextualize the school ethos, culture, and schooling process. To comprehend the secular outlook and its role as envisaged in the Constitution of our country. The present study is a qualitative case study that was conducted in a public school by using observation and interviews with 30 students and ten teachers at the school from classes VI-VII each, apart from 10 interviews with parents. There is an indication that there is a secular ethos in the school. However, there are few occurrences of segregation, but on the whole, there is inclusion. The policies, practices in the school reflect resilience and tolerance, characterized by value education.

Abstract

As an international language, English becomes vital to master. In English, speaking is considered more crucial compared to listening, writing, and reading. Nevertheless, it is not an easy task to achieve. One solution which can ease learning speaking is presenting excellent learning materials for students. Thus, teachers are obliged to write and develop learning materials that are relevant, effective, and suitable for their students. This study aimed to give a clear overview of how to develop, validate, and revise Speaking learning materials according to active learning activities and Six steps in revised Bloom’s Taxonomy. This study was objected to offering a novelty as there was little discussion on developing learning materials, particularly speaking, based on active learning activities and revised Bloom’s taxonomy. This thus widens discussion in the field. The method used was Research & Development. The study suggested that learning material development required several steps, including six steps of Bloom’s taxonomy. The validation proposed the aspects of materials, the aspects of activities, the aspects of media, and the presentation aspects. The last, revision must be taken once the developed materials are found less suitable for learners.

Abstract

The Sri Lankan civil war began in 1983 and lasted until 2009. The tension stems from Sri Lanka's colonial period and subsequent postcolonial policies that harmed the Tamil people. Without viable alternatives, a part of the Tamil population resorted to the degree of brutality that precipitated a second civil war. Regional, domestic, and global attempts to bring the war to a halt have been futile, though some more local measures have been active. A ruthless military campaign brought the conflict to an end. However, nothing has been done in the aftermath of the war to try to resolve the civil war, including its roots. Sri Lanka's civil war exemplifies the uncertain existence of civil war resolution. With this in mind, the war's conclusion was unquestionably the product of a strategic triumph. However, the civil war should have ended; a unique constellation of structural, state, and national forces collaborated to allow for unrestricted military aggression. As long as the dominant forces, including the United States and significant European countries, understood that enough bloodshed had happened, the country's aggression could be brought to a stop. China and India, with India abstaining, voted to support the Sri Lankan government in its major offensive against insurgents. Internationally, the newly restored government used the full might of the forces against the rebels. As a consequence, those variables are deemed unusable in other situations. Tamil-Sinhala rivalry stretches all the way back to Sri Lanka's colonial period. The Tamil community took advantage of numerous market opportunities under British rule, which lasted from 1815 to 1948.

Abstract

This study examined the job satisfaction level of teachers and the factors affecting job satisfaction in the public schools of Pakistan. The public-school teachers from the two districts were selected as the sample for this study. The questionnaire was used for the data collection. An online survey was conducted to collect data from the teachers at selected public schools in Pakistan. The respondent was approached individually through an online survey. A total of 119 responses were received through an online survey. Out of these 119, 58 were complete responses which were then used for analysis. The SPSS and AMOS software was used for the analysis purpose. The average score related to teacher satisfaction showed that teachers in Pakistan are generally satisfied with their jobs. The Structural Equation Modeling results showed that professional development opportunities at work and self-efficacy play a significant positive role in teacher job satisfaction. The teachers who were well skilled and had better planning related to the work and provided progress in their work tend to be more satisfied with their jobs compared to the teachers who have low self-efficacy and dispatch progress on their job. Only a few public schools in Pakistan are included in the study. As a result, a broad sample of schools is recommended for future research. This poll did not include private schools. As a result, private schools should be included in future polls to better understand the disparities in teacher conduct in various school environments. Due to the closure of schools in Pakistan, the online survey was the only choice, explaining why there were so few complete responses. To corroborate the findings of this study, it is suggested that future investigations use a large sample size.

Abstract

‘Tut Wuri Handayani’ is the slogan of the National Education of Indonesia, written in Sanskrit. It is a philosophy of education that Ki Hajar Dewantara originally promoted. Practically, it is an accumulation of educational processes that prioritize the transformation of good character and knowledge through a governance organization that is instigated by educational leadership. In this regard, the paper utilizes the literature review method to get information from researchers published in refereed journals regarding process governance, model of governance organization in school and synthesizes the information to show how the school leaders can promote “Tut Wuri Handayani” in order that it can be integrated into the school governance. This paper invites researchers to apply qualitative research designs to explore the possibility of implementing the Philosophy Education: “Tut Wuri Handayani” in the governance organization of Schools in Indonesia. Indonesia's educational system has experimented with several forms of leadership. The paper discusses the necessity of promoting the Indonesian philosophy of education, ‘Tut Wuri Handayani,' to preserve its worth as a guide for all school leaders and instructors to maintain a positive attitude and behavior to achieve educational goals. School leaders and instructors are encouraged to use this Indonesian Philosophy of Education to ensure that children always receive a decent education and in all places. The authors also recommend that module and curriculum creators collaborate with learning facilitators to integrate the Philosophy of Education: ‘Tut Wuri Handayani' as one of the school governance principles and values. In addition, this research suggests that future researchers use qualitative research designs to investigate the influence of the implementation of ‘Tut Wuir Handayani' on students, school leaders, teachers, and other stakeholders in a sample of Indonesian schools.
