Sustainability is a lifestyle designed for permanence. Sustainability is the comparatively more uncomplicated idea, which can be explained in purely descriptive terms as any given system's capacity to exist and reproduce on a long-term basis. This study applied for the thoughtful review; the researcher collected data using secondary sources and used various peer-reviewed journal articles and various government and agency publications. The researcher also used personal reflection from the higher education practice. The measure of reflection explored the experimental research methods (primarily reflection) using literary forms. The development adds a value judgment by implying the desired evolution of human society. Sustainability in Higher Education calls us to new sets of relationships with our students, with each other, with what we learn, and with ourselves. In this thoughtful review, the researcher has attempted to reveal some common facts relating to COVID-19 and higher education sustainability.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the perspectives of teacher applicants in the employment process. Qualitative phenomenological approach was employed to three teacher applicants who belonged to one division and experience the employment process ranged from school year 2016 to 2020. To gather data, in depth interview was conducted. The results of the interview were transcribed, translated and coded to produce themes. As regards the experiences of teacher applicants, two themes were formulated: first, patiently waiting for the future and second is steadiness and sanguinity. Looking on how they cope with the employment process, the following themes were created: support system, welcoming the possibilities and realization overload. As to their insights, the following themes were generated: time tested values and pursuing dreams in the test of time. The hiring process is a battleground. Teacher candidates put forth a lot of effort in their preparation. The eventual conclusion could have a wide range of consequences for each applicant. Teacher candidates use coping methods such as cognitive, emotional, and behavioral comforting and adaption strategies to deal with stressful circumstances, particularly during the hiring process, and to decrease distress. Every teacher applicant has unique experiences, but the learning and character development gained during the process brought them all together; these are the hope for a secure future and a desire to contribute meaningfully to the nation's growth by educating the nation's future. It is not necessarily the pay and benefits that convince people that this is a vocation, but rather the heart.

Abstract

The main aim of this project was to establish a decentralized management and administration system for doctorates at the research unit of the Department of General, Visceral, and Transplant Surgery at the Medical Faculty of Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich. A flow process chart conforming to the quality management system and detailing the sequence of a standardized initial introduction has been established. In order to determine if the introduction in each core facility was successful, a multiple-choice evaluation was implemented. Secondly, a welcome package has been created, which contains important information on how to start work in the department and also describes the necessary introductions and briefings and their sequence. Between 2018 and 2020, 20 applicants were accepted as doctoral students in the Department, two of them already finished their experimental work. Median duration of the introductory procedure was 20 days with minimum of six (6) and maximum of 121 days. Analysis of the test results revealed that in four types of briefings, all students passed the tests on the first attempt. However, for four other types of introductions, 5-31% of the students had to repeat the introductions due to failing the aptitude tests. All students were subsequently able to pass the aptitude tests at least on their second attempt. We successfully developed a decentralized management and administration system for doctorate students. Based on internal evaluations using key-indicators as well as the SWOT analysis, we can conclude that this management system could be used by research facilities that educate doctorate students.
