Abstract

Abstract

The Bidara Cina flats is a building constructed in 1996. The phenomenon of urbanization in Jakarta City, which caused limited land availability at that time, and the presence of numerous irregular urban areas due to the proliferation of slums, prompted the initial construction of these flats. However, the construction of this building did not immediately solve the existing problems. The lack of adequate facilities and insufficient maintenance of the building have led to an unhealthy environment. Therefore, it is hoped that the redesign of the Bidara Cina flats in the future can integrate housing function, entertainment, and provide adequate facilities. The result of this redesign is expected to become a healthy living place for the lower-middle-class community or MBR.

Abstract

Visual comfort and thermal comfort can influence an activity. When carrying out activities, it is very necessary, especially these 3 (three) things, namely: Adequate lighting, a room that is free from glare, the need of seeing outside (view), and an appropriate room temperature. Each person's visual comfort can be different due to differences in perception. Each person's perception will be different depending on their experiences, beliefs and values. This research was carried out by distributing several questions on Google Form. This survey will compare 3 (three) types of second skin facades to be compared, namely: plant facades, horizontal lattice facades, and perforated metal facades, and then which of the three types is considered to provide the most visual and thermal comfort. The results obtained state that human perception of plant facades can provide visual and thermal comfort with 55.9% of respondents stating that plant facades are the best solution for obtaining visual comfort and 88.1% stating that plant facades are able to provide good thermal comfort. Respondents believe this is because plant facades can absorb sunlight, block sunlight consistently, and can provide oxygen, making the room become more fresh and cooler.

Abstract

Indonesia, which is located in a tropical climate zone, has great potential for utilizing sunlight in building design. Integrating natural lighting in building design, especially church buildings, not only supports the implementation of passive design but also adds to the aesthetics of the building. This study aims to review the application of the concept of poetic architecture from a visual aspect to church buildings. The method used is a literature review through exploration of precedent studies as case studies. Content analysis through within-case synthesis was carried out to explore how the application of natural lighting supports the concept of poetic architecture in church buildings. The research results show that the application of passive design not only increases visual comfort and energy efficiency, but also adds aesthetic value to church buildings. In this way, the church building not only fulfills functional needs but the church can also create a poetic and inspiring space.
