Abstract

This study aims to analyze the competence of students of the Electrical Engineering Education study program in educational field practice, especially in pedagogical and professional aspects. This study uses a quantitative approach with a data collection method in the form of a questionnaire. Before the questionnaire was distributed to students, a trial was conducted to test its validity and reliability. The data obtained from the questionnaire will be measured using a Likert scale of 1-5. The analysis method used is descriptive statistical analysis using the Respondent Achievement Level (RAL). The subjects in this study were 30 students of the Electrical Engineering Education study program class of 2020 who had carried out educational field practice. The results of this study indicate that most students of the Electrical Engineering Education Study Program have sufficient mastery of pedagogical and professional competencies. For this reason, improvements are needed in both competencies, because there are still weaknesses in several indicators.

Abstract

Many students majoring in electrical engineering do not understand electrical circuit material, causing students to have difficulty determining Ohm's law and Kirchhoff's law and resistor color codes. Therefore, one solution is to develop interactive learning media based on web learning in electrical circuit courses. This research aims to develop valid and practical learning media. This research was carried out with research and development to produce products in the form of learning media. Development models can be in the form of procedural models, conceptual models and theoretical models, procedural models are considered suitable for the development objectives to be achieved, namely to produce a product and test the feasibility of the product produced, where to achieve these objectives certain steps must be followed to produce a particular product. Based on the research carried out, it can be concluded that the development research carried out produced a valid and practical web learning-based interactive media product in the Electrical Circuits course at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Padang State University. This is proven by the validation results of interactive learning media based on web learning from two validators, that the interactive learning media developed was tested as valid. Testing the practicality of interactive learning media from lecturers' practicality is very practical, and the practicality test results are very practical. So, the development of interactive learning media based on web learning in electrical circuit courses is valid and practical.

Abstract

This research explores the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in assisting Electrical Engineering students with their coursework. Using a quantitative approach, the study surveyed a sample of 167 students to analyze the extent to which Artificial Intelligence (AI) contributes to the efficiency of completing assignments. The data was processed using a descriptive analysis method to provide a clear understanding of the patterns and trends in AI utilization among students. The findings indicate that AI has a significant influence, accounting for 56% of the effectiveness in completing coursework. This suggests that students who frequently use AI tools tend to complete their assignments more efficiently. The study highlights that the integration of AI can enhance productivity, reduce the time required to solve complex problems, and improve overall academic performance. These results underscore the growing importance of AI in education, particularly in technical fields such as Electrical Engineering, where problem-solving and computational tasks play a crucial role in students’ learning processes.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low learning achievement of students in the Engineering Physics course, as evidenced by the fact that there are still students who get an E (failed) in the Engineering Physics course. Students with a vocational high school educational background also tend to have a higher percentage of failures than high school and MA. This study aims to analyze the differences in learning achievement of the Engineering Physics course of students of the Electrical Engineering Education Study Program, Padang State University, class of 2020, based on educational background (SMA, SMK, MA) and college entrance pathways (SNMPTN, SBMPTN, Mandiri). This study uses a quantitative method with a comparative approach. Data were obtained through documentation of students' Engineering Physics course grades, which were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. The results of the study showed that there were significant differences in the learning achievement of the Engineering Physics course of students of the Electrical Engineering Education study program based on educational background. This difference was seen in students with a vocational high school educational background and students with a high school educational background. However, no significant differences were found based on college entrance pathways.

Abstract

This research discusses learning media development using Augmented Reality in the Electric Motor Installation subject at SMK Negeri 2 Sungai Full. This research aims to produce Augmented Reality learning media that is valid, practical, and effective in the Electric Motor Installation subject in class XI TITL SMK Negeri 2 Sungai Full. This type of research is research and development (Research & Development) with a 4-D model design (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). The subject of this research is the Augmented Reality learning media used in the Electric Motor Installation subject. Data collection on the validity of media and materials in this research used validation sheets from two lecturers from the Department of Electrical Engineering and two teachers in the Electric Motor Installation subject at SMK Negeri 2 Sungai Full. Practicality and effectiveness testing in this research was carried out on class XI TITL students as respondents. Practicality data collection was obtained using a practicality questionnaire given to class XI TITL students as respondents who used the developed Augmented Reality learning media. The effectiveness test in this study used an objective test question sheet given to class XI TITL students to obtain effectiveness results in this study. Based on the research carried out, data obtained on the results of media validity were in the valid category, and material validation was in the valid category. The practicality test data carried out received the very practical category. The results of the effectiveness test carried out obtained the very effective category.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of interactive learning media using the Articulate Storyline application on student learning outcomes in the subject of electrical power installation at SMKN 1 Pariaman. The background of this study is the low utilization of interactive learning media, although the use of gadgets among students has increased, it has not been directed to support learning. This study uses an experimental method with a pretest and posttest design with the equivalent control group. The subjects of the study were students of class XI TITL, with samples consisting of an experimental class (32 students) using interactive media and a control class (30 students) using conventional methods. Data collection was carried out through pretests and posttests that had been validated by expert lecturers and subject teachers. The results showed a significant increase in student learning outcomes in the experimental class, with an average post-test score higher than the control class. The t-test produced a significant value indicating a significant difference between the two groups. The N-Gain Score analysis showed quite high effectiveness in the experimental class compared to the control class. In addition, the Cohen's Effect Size calculation produced a value that was included in the "large" category. The use of interactive media Articulate Storyline also increased student learning activities. Overall, student learning outcomes after using interactive media increased, so it can be concluded that the interactive learning media Articulate Storyline is effective in improving student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to test the effectiveness of the implementation of the Teams Games Tournament cooperative learning model based on Quizizz in the Basics of Electrical Engineering subjects for class X Electrical Engineering students at SMK Negeri 1 Lembah Melintang. The implementation of this model aims to enhance student active participation and learning outcomes in the course. This study used a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. This study involved 63 class X Electrical Engineering students registered in the 2024/2025 academic year. To measure its effectiveness, students were divided into experimental and control groups, and both groups were given a pretest before learning and a posttest after learning. The pretest and posttest scores were then analyzed using the N-Gain Score and Effect Size calculations. The results showed that the N-Gain Score of the experimental group was in the medium category, while the control group only reached the low category. Additionally, the Effect Size calculation yielded a high category. Thus, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Quizizz-based Teams Games Tournament type cooperative learning model is effective in increasing active participation and student learning outcomes in the Basics of Electrical Engineering subjects.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the Job Readiness of Graduates of the Electrical Power Installation Engineering Department at SMK Negeri 1 West Sumatra. Job readiness is a comprehensive individual condition that encompasses physical, mental, and experiential aspects of life, as well as the willingness and ability to perform work or an activity. The research method employed in this study is a descriptive approach with a quantitative orientation. The variables studied are the job readiness of graduates of the Electrical Power Installation Engineering Department of SMK Negeri 1 West Sumatra. The research instrument used in this study was a questionnaire that was distributed to respondents directly, which had 1 variable and 6 indicators. Based on the results of statistical calculations, the graduate job readiness variable is in the classification score of 76.7% ready to work, 23.3% likely to continue their education, or become entrepreneurs. The results of this study can be concluded that the job readiness of graduates of the Electrical Power Installation Engineering Department of SMK Negeri 1 West Sumatra, some continue to college, some work according to their fields and some work (Placeholder1) (Placeholder2) which is not following their field of expertise, and some are looking for work.

Abstract

The problem of this research is the lack of student competence in the field of practice, several problems were found including: students are not accustomed to using practical tools, students cannot interact with work objects, students find it difficult to understand work steps, lack of understanding of work safety, students ignore the use of PPE, lack of cleanliness, and so on. So the researcher will research “The application of practical achievements in improving student competence in the subject of Electric Motor Installation in class XI TKL SMK N 1 Bukittinggi”. This study aims to determine the impact of applying 8 indicators of practical ability on students' P2 knowledge level. This research is a type of quantitative descriptive research using experimental methods with Pre- pre-experimental designs, one-group pretest-posttest, and assessment rubrics. The number of respondents was 32. The results of this study were tested using SPSS 26 with descriptive statistical analysis, t-test, F test, multiple regression analysis, analysis of variance, gain score test, and effect size. Based on the results of the study, the N Gain Score value was 0.3365 with a medium category, and the effect size with Cohen's d was 1.277 with a large category. So the application of these 8 indicators of practical ability is proven to improve students' P2 skills. This research could have been used as a further reference to develop more effective learning strategies and curriculum enhancements to meet students' needs.

Abstract

Learning in the field of Engineering has unique characteristics that differentiate it from general education, particularly in the need to integrate theory with practice, solve project-based problems, and utilize technology to support simulations and experiments. With the advancement of digital learning technologies, Learning Management System (LMS)-based blended learning emerges as a promising approach to facilitate more interactive and flexible learning processes in Engineering education. However, blended learning models specifically designed to address the unique needs of engineering education remain limited. This study aims to design an interactive blended learning model based on LMS tailored to the characteristics of Engineering education. The model was developed using the ADDIE framework (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), with an emphasis on utilizing LMS features such as interactive modules, technical simulations, discussion forums, formative assessments, and project-based tasks. The model underwent validation by experts in engineering education and instructional technology to assess its relevance, practicality, and strengths. The findings reveal that the proposed blended learning model effectively meets the needs of Engineering education by integrating theory and practice in a digital environment. Expert validation yielded high scores for relevance and practicality, highlighting the model’s strengths in fostering interactivity while suggesting areas for further improvement. This article contributes by offering a technical guide for designing LMS-based blended learning models, serving as a foundation for more innovative and adaptive engineering education development in the future.
