Abstract

Human life's journey, an endless exploration, unfolds continuously throughout existence. Like a flowing melody, this journey encompasses stages that depict the dynamics of human existence. This study focuses on Tulus' album 'Manusia,' an artistic creation providing a profound portrayal of diverse human experiences. Employing Ferdinand De Saussure's semiotic approach, this research delves into the symbolic meanings embedded within song lyrics. The album transcends mere melodies and words, reflecting the intricacies of humanity, ranging from love and loss to hope. A descriptive qualitative method is utilized to unveil concealed meanings behind the words. The research results illuminate how the album represents human relationships with their environment. Its lyrics depict human interaction with the surrounding world, presenting concepts of existence and reflection. 'Manusia' becomes an artistic expression capable of unraveling the inner complexities of humanity, giving voice to emotions often challenging to articulate in ordinary words.

Sexual violence is a very troubling phenomenon in society because it can cause physical, sexual, and psychological suffering for victims. In Indonesia, several films have raised the theme of sexual violence inspired by true stories, one of which is a teen drama film entitled Like & Share. This study aims to understand how the audience interprets and responds to sexual violence in the movie. The method used is descriptive semi-structured qualitative research with Stuart Hall's reception analysis. Data were collected through interviews and documentation from ten informants aged 18-24, who were classified into three reception categories: dominant hegemonic position, negotiated position, and oppositional position. The results showed that five informants were in the dominant hegemonic position category, which means they agreed with the movie's message regarding sexual violence. Three informants were in the negotiated position category, indicating they agreed but added personal views. Two informants were in the oppositional position category, showing their disagreement with the movie's message.

Abstract

Hypertextual poetry is a literary work in digital media with its complexity and uniqueness in accessing and reading it. This study aims to understand the model of digital literature through electronic poetry with the conceptual framework of Cybertext by Espen J. Aarseth (1997). The data collection method used is close reading, while data analysis is by linking text data groups and images in poetry. This study shows some facts about digital literature. (1) "Dispossession" with the hypertextual concept or hyperlink technique restricts access for particular users. (2) The text in the poem is not static and some of the texts have different contents even though they come from the same hyperlink. (3) The reader is not limited by the duration of viewing the poem and the text is impersonal. (4) There is an external link to (the author's website) as well as internal links to (the text of the poem). Those facts show that digital literature provides explorative and interpretative functions for users and readers.
