Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap bagaimana makna “cantik itu luka” yang tidak sekadar mengacu pada konsep kecantikan secara fisik. Selain itu, tokoh-tokoh perempuan dalam novel Cantik Itu Luka berusaha menunjukkan kuasa atas dominasi yang membelenggunya. Melalui metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan teori pascakolonial sebagai pisau analisisnya, hasil penelitian ini adalah konsep ‘cantik’ memiliki dual sign. Artinya, ‘cantik’ dalam novel ini mengacu pada dua pengertian. Pertama, cantik merupakan alegori dari sesuatu yang tidak berkaitan langsung dengan tubuh, tetapi realitas lain di luar itu, yaitu kecantikan alam yang ‘dilukai’ oleh kolonialisme. Kedua, cantik mengacu pada tokoh-tokoh perempuan cantik yang justru menjadi subaltern (manusia subordinat) dalam sistem masyarakat patriarki. Namun demikian, usaha tokoh-tokoh perempuan yang terdapat dalam novel ini, pada akhirnya masih mengacu pada standar patriarki dan standar kecantikan Barat (Eropa).

Abstract

ChatGPT (Generative Pre-Trained Transformer) technology is a chatbot that provides quality and varied text sources. The features in it allow users to create the text they want by simply typing in the appropriate keywords. Students can become lazy to write because they use ChatGPT to make scripts for writing assignments from lecturers. Therefore, ChatGPT technology needs to be used effectively among students as literacy teaching materials in the digital era. For this reason, this research article was written to test the effectiveness of ChatGPT technology as teaching material for student literacy in the digital era. The research method used is a mixture of qualitative and quantitative methods with data collection techniques through documentation, literature study, and questionnaires. From the data that has been collected, the ChatGPT application is effectively used as a literacy teaching material among students with the lecturer's role as a facilitator and sanctions for use applied in class. ChatGPT functions to improve students' language skills which include the ability to read, write, and understand language in various types of text.

Abstract

The project-based learning method is a learning method that is considered to provide more learning experiences than other learning methods, such as discussions and lectures in class. In addition, project-based methods can also provide effective learning outcomes. In learning to write articles, both scientific articles and popular articles, a project-based learning method is needed that can improve students' writing skills. For this reason, in writing scientific articles the "literacy space" method is used, while in writing popular articles the artpop method is used. This research was conducted to compare the effectiveness of the two methods. The research methods used are qualitative and quantitative research. Data collection techniques used were documentation, questionnaires, and student scores. Meanwhile, the data were analyzed descriptively qualitatively, and quantitatively. From the comparative studies that have been carried out, the two methods have significant differences and similarities. However, in terms of effectiveness in learning, the Artpop learning method is considered more effective. The difference in the effectiveness of the two is 2.8%. The artpop learning method is more effective because the learning activities carried out are simple. Students only need to change scientific articles that have been published on Google Scholar into popular articles that can be read by the public in simple language. When writing scientific articles, activities are needed that can increase students' understanding in terms of writing titles, introductions, literature reviews, research methods, results and discussions, citations and bibliography. Meanwhile, in writing popular articles, activities are needed to support students' understanding in terms of writing titles, introductions, contents, and closings. The learning methods used appropriately accommodate the needs of these students.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Short story entitled “Kali dengan Kepala Terpenggal” (Kali with Fragmented Head) in Nouvelles Orientales Anthology by Marguerite Yourcenar, a French author, has intertextuality with Indian mythology. This short story reconstructs Goddess Kali’s characteristic in Indian mythology. Goddess Kali transformation is portrayed with the head of Goddess which is attached in a whore’s body. However, her characteristic is portrayed like a human as Marguerite removes some horrible elements of Goddess Kali in mythology. This research aims to disclose the meaning of transformation of Kali’s characteristic in this short story by using the method of intertextuality by Riffaterre. The results of this research shows that transformation can be understood as a fight between lust and mind wisdom. The head of Goddess Kali can be seen as symbol of mind wisdom and the body of a whore as symbol of lust. Hence, the death of Kali in this short story can be noted as a symbol from extinction of the lust as how Hindu’s spirituality interpret the meaning of life. Based on the results, it can be concluded that transformation of Goddess Kali in Marguerite’s short story is not only can be seen as an experimental attempt to create a new aesthetic form. In contrast, Marguerite’s narrative strategy in dismissing some horrible elements of Goddess Kali’s characteristic from the Indian ancient mythology in her short story shows a distance of cultural code between East and West. Nonetheless, Hindu’s spirituality as the substance of the story is still sustained by Kali’s wandering.     Keywords : Goddess Kali, intertextuality, mythology, transformation INTISARICerpen berjudul “Kali dengan Kepala Terpenggal” dalam kumpulan cerpen Cerita-cerita Timur (Nouvelles Orientales) karya Marguerite Yourcenar, seorang pengarang Prancis, memiliki intertekstualitas dengan mitologi India. Cerpen ini merekonstruksi karakteristik Dewi Kali dalam mitologi. Transformasi Dewi Kali dalam cerpen digambarkan dengan kepala sang dewi yang “dipasangkan” pada tubuh pelacur. Karakteristik Dewi Kali dalam cerpen digambarkan lebih menyerupai manusia. Marguerite menghilangkan unsur-unsur “menyeramkan” dari Dewi Kali dalam mitologi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap makna dari transformasi karakteristik Dewi Kali dalam cerpen. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan prinsip kerja dari pendekatan intertekstualitas Riffaterre. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa transformasi tersebut dapat dimaknai sebagai gambaran pertarungan antara hawa nafsu dan akal budi yang ada dalam diri manusia. Kepala Sang Dewi dimaknai sebagai simbol akal budi dan tubuh pelacur dimaknai sebagai simbol hawa nafsu. Kematian tokoh Kali dalam cerpen dimaknai sebagai kematian hawa nafsu. Hal ini sejalan dengan inti dari spiritualitas Hindu terkait dengan pemaknaan atas kehidupan dunia. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa transformasi Dewi Kali dalam cerpen tidak dapat sekadar dilihat sebagai upaya menciptakan karya baru. Strategi naratif Marguerite menghilangkan unsur-unsur yang “menyeramkan” dari karakteristik Dewi Kali dari mitologi India ke dalam cerpennya mencerminkan adanya jarak antara kode budaya Timur dan Barat. Meskipun demikian, spiritualitas Hindu sebagai substansi cerita masih dipertahankan dalam cerpen melalui pengembaraan tokoh Kali.   Kata Kunci : Dewi Kali, intertekstualitas, mitologi, transformasi

Abstract

Dalam pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia, media memiliki peran penting dalam menunjang keberhasilan siswa, khususnya dalam memahami teks biografi. Salah satu media inovatif yang dikembangkan adalah UTABI (Ular Tangga Biografi), yaitu permainan edukatif yang dirancang untuk meningkatkan pemahaman siswa terhadap teks biografi secara menyenangkan. Media ini menggabungkan aspek permainan fisik dan kognitif dengan konsep visual yang menarik dan interaktif. Penelitian ini diterapkan pada siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 14 Malang yang mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami teks biografi. Hasil implementasi menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan UTABI mampu meningkatkan efektivitas pembelajaran, mempersingkat waktu pemahaman materi, serta memicu antusiasme siswa dalam proses belajar. Media ini tidak hanya membantu siswa memahami isi dan struktur teks biografi, tetapi juga menanamkan nilai-nilai keteladanan dari tokoh yang dipelajari. Dengan demikian, UTABI menjadi alternatif media pembelajaran yang efektif dan menyenangkan dalam pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia di jenjang SMP.

Abstract

Environmental education for children is inseparable from the role of teachers in schools. However, challenges remain in providing children’s reading materials with environmental themes. In addition, the use of digital technology to support the illustration process is still limited. To address these challenges, artificial intelligence (AI) tools such as Midjourney can serve as an effective solution. Midjourney is an AI-based platform that facilitates the creation of high-quality illustrations for children’s storybooks. This community service program aimed to equip teachers with the skills to write children’s stories, particularly focusing on the environmental pillar of the SDGs, while also utilizing AI technology to produce engaging illustrations. The method employed was a participatory approach, which actively involved teachers in the training process of story writing and illustration development. The participants were engaged in determining story topics, preparing prompts for illustrations, and designing the layout of the draft book. As a result, out of 20 participants, 10 were selected for producing the best writings that met the criteria for children’s books. These selected teachers were also able to generate illustrations through Midjourney. Furthermore, questionnaire results indicated that 60% of participants “Agreed” and 40% “Strongly Agreed” that the program aligned with their teaching material needs and could be effectively utilized as a learning medium in schools. In conclusion, this program has tangible implications in enhancing the competencies of elementary school teachers in Pasuruan City to develop educational children’s reading materials. The teachers not only acquired technical skills but also learned to integrate SDG values into learning media in a creative way, thereby fostering contextual and enjoyable learning experiences for students.

Abstract

Toponimi jalan merupakan representasi linguistik yang mencerminkan identitas sosial dan budaya suatu daerah. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji struktur bahasa yang digunakan dalam penamaan jalan di Provinsi Bali, serta memproyeksikan peran dan transformasinya dalam konteks kultural di masa depan. Kajian dilakukan melalui analisis linguistik terhadap nama-nama jalan yang tersebar di berbagai wilayah Bali, dengan fokus pada unsur morfologis, sintaksis, dan semantis yang terkandung di dalamnya. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa penamaan jalan di Bali didominasi oleh unsur bahasa daerah, tokoh-tokoh lokal, istilah religius, dan elemen geografis yang kuat. Struktur tersebut memperlihatkan keterikatan erat antara bahasa dan nilai-nilai lokal masyarakat Bali. Namun, dalam menghadapi arus globalisasi, pariwisata, dan digitalisasi sistem informasi geografis, keberadaan dan bentuk toponimi tersebut berpotensi mengalami pergeseran. Proyeksi kultural menunjukkan bahwa pelestarian struktur linguistik dalam penamaan jalan menjadi penting untuk menjaga kontinuitas identitas budaya Bali di tengah perubahan zaman. Kajian ini menekankan pentingnya integrasi kebijakan penamaan jalan yang berwawasan budaya dan berpandangan ke masa depan.
