Abstract

Idiomatic phrases play a crucial role in enriching Indonesian language expression, particularly in verbal art forms such as modern song lyrics. This research aims to identify idiomatic phrases in the song "Dalam Diam" by Sal Priadi, analyze their structural formation, and describe their idiomatic meanings. This descriptive qualitative research employs observation and note-taking methods for data collection, and distributional analysis for examining data from the "Berhati" album (2020). Research findings identify six idiomatic phrases from the total comprehensive data discovered in the song lyrics, featuring diverse structures with dominant Noun + Verb + Noun (N+V+N) patterns. Idiomatic phrases are classified into six semantic categories: body and emotion metaphors, abstract personification, visual metaphors, light metaphors, nature metaphors, and sound and atmosphere metaphors. All categories contribute to conveying themes of introspection and self-contemplation. The research concludes that idiomatic phrases enhance the artistic dimension of contemporary Indonesian indie pop music and reflect modern Indonesian societal values in expressing emotional experiences through figurative language rich in symbolic meaning.

Abstract

Bahandipan tradition is a form of mutual cooperation unique to the Banjar community, which is now gradually being eroded by modernization. More than just an agricultural practice, this tradition serves as a medium of collective cultural communication that strengthens solidarity among farmers in Gudang Hirang Village. This study aims to understand the role of the bahandipan tradition as a form of collective cultural communication, using a qualitative approach and phenomenological method through interviews, observation, and documentation involving farmer group leaders, local historians, and village farmers. Utilizing Symbolic Interaction Theory, the study analyzes how social meaning is constructed through interactions within the tradition. The findings reveal that bahandipan functions as both verbal and symbolic communication, reinforcing social networks, the values of mutual cooperation, and consensus-based decision-making without formal structure. Although it is increasingly affected by modern wage-based labor systems, bahandipan remains regarded as a meaningful cultural heritage worth preserving in the context of development rooted in local wisdom.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the language skills of a child with multiple disabilities, particularly speaking and listening skills, and to explain language learning and its development in cognitive and psychomotor aspects through TikTok as a social media platform. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach using observation and note-taking techniques. The research subject is Brandon Sahcio, an individual with multiple disabilities experiencing intellectual disability and speech delay. The data sources consist of videos depicting language learning activities and social interactions uploaded on the TikTok account @brandonsahcio. The findings indicate that Brandon’s language abilities have shown gradual development over time. Language learning conducted through repetitive and contextual practices, supported by the family environment, has proven effective in improving speaking and listening skills. Development is evident not only in verbal communication but also in nonverbal communication and social interaction abilities. These findings suggest that cognitive limitations and speech delay do not entirely hinder children with multiple disabilities from developing language skills when consistent and meaningful stimulation is provided. This study concludes that social media can function as an informal language learning space that supports the communication development of children with multiple disabilities.

Abstract

The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in broadcast media production has brought about significant changes, both in technical aspects and in work structures and creative practices. The visual radio program entitled “Voices from Afar” was chosen as the object of this study because it involves two different approaches: conventional production that relies on human involvement and AI-based production that uses automated systems. This study aims to analyze the differences in the production processes and characteristics of the results of these two models, with an emphasis on work efficiency, technical quality, and aesthetic and narrative dimensions. The method applied is descriptive-comparative qualitative through observation of the production process, in-depth interviews, and content analysis. The results show that AI-based production excels in terms of speed and technical consistency, while conventional production is stronger in narrative depth, emotional expression, and visual authenticity. These findings confirm that AI serves as a creative tool that accelerates the production process; however, AI cannot yet fully replace the human function of creating meaning. Therefore, collaboration between humans and AI is considered an important strategy for the development of visual radio production in the digital media era.

Abstract

In the era of decentralization, the gap between populist political promises and the reality of bureaucratic implementation often hinders regional development. This study aims to analyze the political communication strategy of the Governor of Central Sulawesi, Dr. H. Anwar Hafid, M.Si., in implementing the "Berani Cerdas" free education policy innovation. Employing a qualitative approach with a constructivist-policy analysis design, this research reconstructs Dan Nimmo’s political communication theory by dialoguing it with the concept of the Network Society. Data collection was conducted through process tracing, in-depth interviews, and netnography. The findings indicate that: (1) The Governor successfully transformed from an electoral political actor into a Policy Entrepreneur by leveraging his technocratic track record as credibility capital; (2) The communication strategy employed is hybrid (omni-channel), integrating legal-formal authority, conventional mass media, and digital virality to reach cross-generational audiences; (3) The audience (students) are no longer passive message consumers but act as Network Validators who verify political promises through empirical experience. This study concludes that political communication serves not merely as a branding tool, but as a strategic instrument to enforce bureaucratic performance (bureaucratic enforcer) and mobilize public participation, effectively bridging the gap between political rhetoric and the reality of public services.

Abstract

YouTube Live streaming in Indonesia has developed as a performative space where identity and gender relations are negotiated in real time. This study aims to understand the role of audiences in shaping Bigmo’s masculinity as a streamer, as well as the interaction dynamics between the streamer, audiences, and women during Live broadcasts. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews selected using purposive sampling and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings show that Bigmo’s masculinity is not fixed, but is collectively formed through interactions with audiences. Comments, challenges, and jokes in the Live chat encourage Bigmo to display confidence, dominance, and risk-taking behavior during Live streaming sessions. The presence of women strengthens Bigmo’s masculine image, but at the same time reveals gender bias through audience comments. Parasocial relationships increase audience involvement in Live streaming and contribute to shaping Bigmo’s persona. This study concludes that YouTube Live streaming functions as a collaborative social space that shapes the construction of digital masculinity.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has driven significant changes in audiovisual production practices, including in the context of teaching and learning within the Broadcasting Program. One essential competency that students must develop is the ability to work effectively in production teams, both small and full teams. This study aims to analyze the preferences of Broadcasting students at the Jakarta State Polytechnic for Creative Media regarding these two teamwork models, as well as to examine communication dynamics, effectiveness, comfort, productivity, and production quality. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive technique. The research participants consisted of 12 fifth-semester students selected through purposive sampling who had experience working in both small and full teams. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation, and were analyzed thematically. The findings indicate that students’ preferences for small and full teams were relatively balanced. Small teams were perceived as more efficient, flexible, and productive due to more direct communication and faster decision-making processes. In contrast, full teams were perceived as producing higher-quality outcomes through clear task distribution and role specialization. These findings confirm that teamwork effectiveness is strongly influenced by group and interpersonal communication patterns; therefore, the application of teamwork models in audiovisual production education should be adaptive and contextual.
