Abstract

This study aims to analyze differences in the delineation results of the Cisangkuy Micro-Watershed using two types of Digital Elevation Model (DEM) data: DEMNAS and SRTM. The Cisangkuy sub-watershed, located in the upstream area of the Citarum Watershed, was selected due to its vital role in providing raw water for the West Java region, particularly Bandung Regency. A Geographic Information System (GIS)-based approach was used to compare spatial parameters such as elevation, watershed area, slope, and shape ratio. The results show that DEMNAS, with its higher resolution, captures topographic variations in greater detail than SRTM, resulting in watershed boundary delineation that better aligns with the region's hydrological characteristics. Differences in area, slope, and shape ratio parameters indicate that the choice of DEM data significantly influences the results of the spatial analysis. This study concludes that DEMNAS is superior for micro-scale watershed modeling and can support more accurate and precise watershed management planning.

Abstract

River basins play an important role in maintaining ecosystem balance and water resource availability. The Cirasea sub-basin in the Citarum Hulu region is experiencing ecological pressure due to land use change, erosion, and sedimentation. This study aims to compare the use of DEMNAS and DEM SRTM data and identify the morphometric characteristics of the Cirasea sub-watershed using remote sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS) approaches with National Digital Elevation Model (DEMNAS) and Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) data. The analysis includes watershed boundary delineation, measurement of area, length, width, river gradient, river order, stream network density, watershed shape, and slope inclination using ArcGIS 10.8 software. The results show that DEMNAS is superior in displaying topographic details and stream networks compared to SRTM, which tends to simplify drainage patterns. The difference in resolution has implications for the accuracy of identifying morphometric parameters, particularly for tributaries, slope distribution, and stream density. These findings emphasize the importance of utilizing high-resolution data for watershed analysis in national priority areas and can serve as a basis for conservation planning, hydrometeorological disaster mitigation, and sustainable watershed management.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the characteristics of the Sirnaresmi Village area in supporting food security through the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The method used is descriptive quantitative with spatial analysis of several physical and environmental parameters, including slope, land use, soil type, and lithology. The results show that this village has great potential with fertile volcanic soils such as Andosol and Kambisol, as well as forest areas that function as water buffers and microclimate regulators. Slope variation affects land use patterns and agricultural potential, with the gentle slopes in the center of the village becoming the main area for food commodity development. The use of GIS has proven effective in mapping resource distribution and supporting sustainable development planning, thereby increasing the village's capacity for resource management and food security. All these aspects indicate that with proper management and the use of GIS technology, Sirnaresmi Village has great potential to maintain and improve the community's food security in a sustainable manner, despite facing challenges related to topography and diverse land use.

Abstract

Quasi-Linear Convective System (QLCS) is a type of linear convective system that can cause extreme weather. There is still little research on QLCS systems in Indonesia, so it is necessary to conduct further research related to the characteristics of QLCS. This research was conducted by identifying QLCS during 2024 in Bengkulu within 150 km range of weather radar to analyze QLCS characteristics in the form of temporal and spatial distribution, formation and decay types, system propagation profiles, and lower layer wind profiles. The radar products used include CMAX, CTR, HWIND, and VSHEAR. The results of this study show that there are 24 QLCS events observed during 2024 in the study area and dominantly occur in December. From the initiation, maturation, to dissipation phases, QLCS mostly occurred in the early morning in the coastal ocean region and most of them were able to last up to 91-120 minutes. In the initiation phase, the QLCS formation process more often occurs with a broken line type. The propagation direction of QLCS tends to the southeast with the dominant speed in the fast moving category (> 7 m/s). The horizontal lower layer wind profile shows that the maximum wind speed is in the range of > 20 knots, while the dominant vertical wind shear encountered in each phase of QLCS life is the strong category.

Abstract

Lake Rawa Pening in Semarang Regency plays a crucial ecological role for Semarang Regency, namely as a buffer zone and a national priority area. High levels of anthropogenic activity have caused ecological damage in the form of high sedimentation rates and the blooming of water hyacinth colonies. This study aims to identify the causes of ecological damage in the Lake Rawa Pening area based on the extraction of vegetation index values. The methods used are spatial classification and spatial descriptive analysis utilizing remote sensing data from Landsat 8 satellite imagery from 2023. The results of the study indicate a strong ecological relationship between land and water bodies. The lake’s riparian zone is dominated by low to very low greenness levels due to land-use conversion and intensive agricultural activities. The conclusion of this study emphasizes that the management of Lake Rawa Pening cannot rely solely on mechanical rehabilitation of the water body, but also requires preventive measures focused on restoring natural vegetation cover in the lake’s riparian zone to mitigate the ongoing rate of environmental degradation.

Abstract

Temporal estimation, specifically predicting the exact continuous duration a natural disaster will last from day one, remains a major operational bottleneck in global emergency management, despite rapid advancements in spatial mapping. This study aims to evaluate and compare the predictive performance of two structurally distinct non-linear machine learning algorithms: the Gradient Boosting Regressor and Support Vector Regression (SVR) utilizing a Radial Basis Function (RBF) kernel. The methodology employs a non-linear quantitative predictive pipeline executed via Python, utilizing empirical historical crisis records extracted from the Global Disaster Alert and Coordination System (GDACS) repository. The final feature matrix integrates localized country profiles, hazard typologies, dynamic environmental severity scales, and monthly seasonal components. The empirical results reveal a sharp contrast in computational performance between the two architectures. The sequential tree-based Gradient Boosting framework demonstrated exceptional estimation capacity, achieving an outstanding Coefficient of Determination (R2) score of 0.9818, with a minimal Mean Absolute Error (MAE) of only 4.1045 days and a robust Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE) of 6.1378 days. Conversely, the distance-based SVR architecture experienced a structural collapse, yielding an R2 score of only 0.1587 and a severely inflated RMSE of 41.7480 days, exposing its critical vulnerability and disorientation when handling heavily skewed target distributions and heavy-tailed temporal outliers. These findings underscore that embedding high-performance ensemble tree structures into digital Decision Support Systems (DSS) can provide highly precise emergency timeline projections from day one, effectively enabling a proactive, data-driven orchestration of humanitarian logistics.
