This research highlighted the application of gallery walk to enhance students’ achievement in writing a recount text. The goal of this research are to assess whether or not the use of gallery walk could foster the students’ writing score and to find the significant difference in students’ recount text writing achievement between those who were taught by using gallery walk and that of those who were not. This research used a quasi- experimental research design with no random sampling. The samples were taken by using purposive sampling, consisting of 37 students for the experimental and control groups. The data were collected by using a written test and administered before and after the treatment. To verify the hypotheses, the data were analyzed using paired sample t-test and independent sample-test and the calculation was done using SPSS program. The result showed that the promotion of gallery walk could foster students’ achievement in writing a recount text and there was a significant difference between posttest results of both groups

The purpose of this study was to examine the application of the PORPE technique in enhancing the eleventh-grade students’ reading achievement of SMAN 3 Unggulan Kayuagung. Since there were five classes with 157 students, the samples were selected using purposive sampling. As a result, there were 62 students who took part as the sample. This study used a quasi-experimental design with nonrandomized pretest and posttest control groups. The data was gathered employing a written test, which was a multiple-choice reading test. The data was analyzed using the ttest. The results revealed that students who were taught through PORPE technique scored higher on reading tests. Besides, PORPE technique could improve the eleventh grade students’ reading achievement of SMAN 3 Unggulan Kayuagung. Hence, students could understand the information form the text and were confidence in answering the questions

Many researches have shown the facts that the students’ skills in writing can be improved by having a good reading habit. It was convinced that the students reading habit has great impact on the improvement of students’ writing ability. The students who read extensively will acquire more vocabularies that lead them to have greater proficiency in writing. Therefore, this study was purposed to know whether reading habit of the eighth graders of SMPN 6 Kayuagung was significantly correlated to their writing skill. By means of Purposive sampling, 124 students of the whole number of the population were selected as the sample. A correlational study was applied. A questionnaire and written test were distributed to get the data. Twenty items of a ready-made questionnaire were used to know students’ habit in reading and a writing test was a dmin ist er ed to measur e students’ writing skill. The writing test was reliable because its reliability coefficient was 0.942. In data analysis, Pearson Product Moment Correlation coefficient on SPSS 20 was used. The findings revealed that r-obtained (0.685) was bigger than the value of r-table (0.176) at p-value which was less than 0.05. Thus, the formulated hypotheses were proved. In other words, there was a significant correlation between reading habit and writing skill of the eighth graders at SMPN 6 Kayuagung

Reading habit influences students’ achievement of reading comprehension. It is assumed that if people have good reading habit, they will have good comprehension toward reading texts. The study was highlighted to examine the association between English education department students’ reading habits and their critical reading skills. This study was conducted using a correlational research design. The population of this study consisted of 112 undegraduate students of English Education department of Tridinanti University in the academic year 2017/2018. There were 37 students participating as the sample of the study chosen by using purposive sampling. In collecting the data, a questionnaire of reading habit and a critical reading test were distributed. A correlational analysis using Pearson Product Moment was applied to seek the association between the variables measured. Based on the data analysis result, it was found that students’ reading habit was not significantly correlated with students’ critical reading skills

The goal of this study determined a relationship between students' knowledge of the simple past tense and their ability to create a recount text in tenth-grade pupils of SMA N 07 Ogan Ilir. The study's participants were all Tenth-Grade Students at SMA N 07 Ogan Ilir. A total of 86 students were present in the population. The sample consisted of 86 students who were chosen using a total sampling technique. This investigation was carried out using correlation research. The data was administered through simple past tense mastery test and writing recount text. Pearson Product Moment correlation was employed to analyze the data.The correlation coefficient, or r-obtained (0.325), was found higher than r-table (0.176), with a p-value of 0.0020.05. It meant that learners' grasp of the simple past tense and their ability to write recount texts were related. It is possible to conclude that students' knowledge of the simple past tense has a significant impact on their ability to write recount material

The fact that English writing skill in Indonesia is still low encouraged the writer to conduct this study concerning vocational high school students. Four Square strategies in prewriting activities help students to write, especially in writing functional text. The objective of this study was to see if there was a substantial difference in writing achievement between students who were taught with the Four Square strategy and those who were not. The quasiexperimental approach was applied in this research. The population of SMK Negeri 2 Sekayu’s eleventh graders in the academic year 2021/2022 with a total of 217 students. From this group, 60 students were chosen as the sample and divided evenly into two groups, the experimental and control groups. The Four Square strategy was used to teach the experimental group, whereas the control group received no treatment. However, all the students in the two groups were given writing tests before and after the application of the two strategies. A t-test was used to assess the data collected. The result showed that the experimental group outperformed the control group with a significant mean difference of 23.82 (p < 0.00). These results indicated that the Four Square strategy was effective in improving the students’ writing achievement

This research was conducted in order to create EVE, an electronic game that can be used to teach and learn vocabularies. The objectives of this research is to see whether EVE can be used to teach vocabulary to elementary school students as a supplementary teaching media. This research takes the form of developmental research. This developmental research was performed in order to create new teaching materials. The research method consists of four phases: analyzing, designing, developing, and implementing also known as ADDI method. Several vocabulary materials from different books and sources were combined with the Hot Potatoes application for teaching vocabularies to complete the designed product. The EVE was created for approximately 50 minutes in teaching and learning period. The completed research was implemented with 11 elementary students from different schools. To sum it up, the researcher found that EVE is usable for teaching vocabulary to elementary level students especially in gaining students’ interest and motivate students to learn vocabulary in more pleasing way

This research aimed to investigate how the information gap technique improved students reading comprehension on narrative text to the 8th-grade students. This research was conducted by using classroom action eesearch. The subject of this research was the 8thgrade students in class VIII C. In collecting data, the writer used an observation checklist table, field note and reading test. The result showed that the students’ abilities to comprehend narrative text improved through information gap technique. It was shown by students enthusiasm to pay attention, and followed every activity during teaching and learning process used information gap technique as teaching a technique. It can be concluded that information gap technique can be used as a technique to improve student's reading comprehension on narrative text

This study was intended to investigate the students’ inquiry process reflected in doing drama activity. The study applied classroom ethnography. The writer spent seven weeks making ethnographic observations and field notes related to doing drama activity, noting what the students do before, during and after the activity. An in depth interview was conducted to 3 participants. The criteria of chosen participants was their performance during the project. They were considered to have more information. The interview aims to know how each phases fit into the overall context of the inquiry process. The findings show that the inquiry process in doing drama activities are reflected in group formation, selection of drama’s title, making synopsis, devision of roles, rehearsal, costume and propery preparation, and drama performance

Even though nowadays technological developments have contributed a lot to the ease of translation, problems in translation will always be encountered due to differences between the source language and the target language. This article aims at identifying techniques of translations used in a Youtube ad. In analyzing the data, the writer applied a content analysis method with a qualitative approach. The findings show that there are 8 categories of translation techniques namely literal translation, transposition, modulation, amplification, established equivalence, generalization, linguistic compression, and adaptation with modulation as the most common translation technique used
