Abstract

In the context of mathematics learning, Problem Based Learning (PBL) is a mathematics learning strategy in the classroom with problem solving activities and provides more opportunities for students to think critically, creatively, reason, and communicate mathematically with their peers.  The focus of this study was the ability to solve math problems. Based on the preliminary research the students experienced errors in re-checking the synchronization of resolution with the given problem. This research was quasi experiment research. Naturally selected subjects have been formed in one intact group (naturally formed intact group). Based on the research data obtained can be described in the problem solving ability of students whose learning applies PBL learning models higher than the problem solving abilities of students with conventional learning, where the average value of the posttest in the experimental class is 71.03. This study conclude that PBL learning models give positive effect on problem solving skills on the subject of the Linear Equation System of Two Variables in class VIII MTs Muslim Cendekia Bengkulu Keywords:problem based learning, problem solving

Abstract

This study began with many students having low concept comprehension skills. This can be seen from the learning process that there are still many students who are less active, and there are still many students who still get grades below the KKM. the purpose of this study was to determine the ability to understand students 'mathematical concepts using the Think Talk Write learning model better than students' ability to understand mathematical concepts using conventional learning models in class VIII MTs Al-Ihsan. The type of this research is experimental, the design is Quasi Experimental, with Randomized Subjects Posstest Only Control Group Design. The sampling technique in this study is cluster random sampling, where class VIII.3 was chosen as the experimental class and class VIII.5 as the control class. Data collection techniques through concept understanding tests, then data analysis techniques used are inferential statistical analysis using the "t" test (Independent Sample t Test). Based on the results of research testing the hypothesis of this study obtained t count = 2.061> t table = -1.999. This means that the ability to understand mathematical concepts of students using Think Talk Write learning models is better than the ability to understand mathematical concepts of students using conventional learning models in class VIII MTs Al-Ihsan

Abstract

This study aims to (1) find out the activities of teachers and students during the implementation of mathematics learning activities by applying Think Pair Share (TPS) learning model, (2) knowing the improvement of students' mathematical communication skills on geometry. Based on the results of observations made by researchers, the cooperative learning model of the Think Pair Share (TPS) type has been going well. Teacher activities and student activities are in a good category, this can be seen from the average score of teacher activity in the first cycle reached 20.75 (good), in the second cycle to 23.25 (good). While the average observation score of students in the first cycle reached 13.75 (enough), in the second cycle it increased to 19.5 (good). The results of the communication skills test in the first cycle were in the adequate category (55.56% of 36 students) and in the next cycle increased to a good category (72.22% of 36 students). From the results of the tests in the second cycle, the study was stopped because it had reached the expected criteria, namely the number of students in good category ≥ 70% of 36 students. Thus it can be concluded that the application of the cooperative learning model of the Think Pair Share (TPS) type can improve the mathematical communication skills of students in class X MIPA 1 of SMAN 7 Bengkulu City. Keywords : Think Pair Share Learning Model, Mathematical Communication Ability
