Abstract

Social media has transformed into a primary arena for shaping public opinion and political image in the digital era. This study aims to examine the narrative construction and discourse of the Prabowo-Gibran political communication pair in the 2024 election contest. This study is based on political communication theory, which highlights how symbols, language, and representation shape public perception. The method used is a qualitative content analysis approach, through tracing messages and symbols that appear on Prabowo and Gibran's personal social media channels, such as TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube channels, accompanied by reading netizen responses and online media coverage. The results of the study show that the Prabowo-Gibran pair implemented a digital populism-based communication strategy by combining humor, emotional closeness, and digital technology. The "gemoy" image and popular symbols such as the "Samsul Jacket" and the Uzumaki Naruto character are not just gimmicks, but rather a form of cultural rebranding that adapts the campaign style to the digital culture of young people. The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in campaign materials also strengthens the narrative of modernity and efficiency. These findings emphasize the shift in political communication towards an entertainment format (politainment) that not only expands the reach of political messages but also strengthens the symbolic relationship between candidates and voters. Theoretically, this study enriches the study of digital political communication through an analysis of the role of narrative and discourse in the formation of political images in contemporary virtual spaces.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the internalization of religious moderation values in the learning of Islamic Cultural History (Sejarah Kebudayaan Islam/SKI) among Islamic Education (PAI) students of the 2023 cohort. The research employs a qualitative approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews involving 12 informants, consisting of 10 students and 2 lecturers of the Islamic Cultural History course who are directly involved in the learning process. The findings indicate that the SKI course plays a significant role in introducing and internalizing wasathiyah values, such as tolerance, respect for diversity, and an inclusive attitude in religious life. Moreover, the internalization process is also influenced by student interactions and the lecturers’ teaching methods, which emphasize dialogue and open discussion. The integration of wasathiyah values into the SKI curriculum serves as a strategic effort to shape younger generations to be more open-minded, tolerant, and capable of appreciating differences within a pluralistic societ

Abstract

This study analyzes curriculum management in the habitualization of the dhuha prayer at MI Miftahul Akhlaqiyah in Semarang by examining the aspects of planning, implementation, supervision, and evaluation. The phenomenon in the field shows that the integration of the dhuha prayer into the curriculum has not been optimal because its practice still depends on the initiative of teachers and is not yet supported by structured regulations. This condition has implications for low consistency in implementation compared to other madrasahs that have implemented similar programs more routinely. Using a qualitative approach with case studies, data was collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving the head of the madrasah and teachers as the main informants. The findings indicate weaknesses in supervision that have resulted in inconsistent implementation, while the evaluations that have been conducted have not led to significant policy improvements. Overall, the results of the study emphasize the importance of strengthening curriculum governance so that the habit of performing the dhuha prayer can be implemented more consistently and contribute to the formation of the religious character of students.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal and describe the implementation of the contextual learning model based on meaningful learning in primary schools as an effort to create relevant, active, and meaningful learning experiences. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation of teaching practices that integrate students’ real-life contexts with academic concepts. The findings reveal that this model enhances not only students’ engagement and learning motivation but also their conceptual understanding and critical thinking abilities. Teachers act as facilitators who bridge concrete experiences with abstract knowledge, forming a continuum of meaning that deepens the learning process. This research contributes theoretically to the development of meaningful learning strategies in primary education while offering practical insights for educators in designing contextual, meaning-oriented, and sustainable learning environments.

Abstract

This research explores the relationship between state defence awareness, citizenship, and welfare based on an analysis of literature over the past ten years. Citizenship is understood through the perspective of T.H. Marshall's theory that integrates civil, political, and social rights, as well as Hiariej and Stokke's approach that sees citizenship as a dynamic social practice. This research uses the literature study method by collecting literature reviews over the past 10 years related to welfare and state defence. The results of the analysis show that the fulfilment of social rights, such as access to education and health, is an important element in strengthening active citizen participation in state defence. Poverty alleviation through inclusive policies proves to be a prerequisite for strengthening inclusive citizenship and national solidarity. In terms of education, civic education plays an important role in instilling values of nationalism, solidarity, and social responsibility, which expands the meaning of state defence to the social and economic spheres. Thus, the results of this study emphasise the importance of integration between welfare, citizenship, and state defence to create a just, cohesive, and resilient society.

Abstract

This study aims to explore friendship circles and their impact on the development of empathy and social skills, as well as the factors influencing them among adolescents at MTsN 1 Pamekasan. The study employs a qualitative approach with an exploratory-descriptive design. Data were collected through non-participant observation, in-depth interviews with students, Guidance and Counseling teachers, and homeroom teachers, as well as documentation. The research informants consisted of 15 students representing various friendship circles, 1 Guidance and Counseling teacher, and 3 homeroom teachers. The findings identified three main types of friendship circles: academic circles, extracurricular circles, and general social circles based on shared gender or habits. Friendship circles have dual effects; positive circles enhance empathy, collaboration, and effective communication, while negative circles reduce empathy and lead to social withdrawal. Influencing factors include gender similarity, shared activities, and the presence of a dominant figure. This study concludes that friendship circles are a crucial determinant of adolescents’ social-emotional development. The implications emphasize the need for group counseling services based on Islamic values to guide students in building healthy friendships.

Abstract

This study examines the role of paper-book-based storytelling in supporting teachers’ teaching of English vocabulary to early childhood learners. The research focuses on the classroom implementation of storytelling activities, participants’ perceptions, and the pedagogical effects on young learners’ language development. The study was conducted in a kindergarten setting with one English teacher and eleven five-year-old students. Using a qualitative descriptive research design, data collection involved in-class observations along with semi-structured teacher interviews, and documentation of instructional activities and students’ learning products. The data collected were analyzed thematically to identify recurring patterns related to instructional practices, learner responses, and learning outcomes. Through repeated exposure to vocabulary embedded in meaningful narrative contexts, children demonstrated improved understanding of word meanings and extensive confidence in using new vocabulary during classroom interactions. The use of interactive and multimodal storytelling techniques such as gestures, visual illustrations, questioning, and student participation was found to sustain learners’ attention and promote active engagement. In addition, the study highlights the teacher’s intentional instructional strategies in selecting age-appropriate stories, scaffolding vocabulary learning, and encouraging student participation. While the approach proved pedagogically beneficial, the study also identifies practical challenges, including limited instructional time and the need for teacher creativity in managing classroom dynamics. The findings indicate that paper-book-based storytelling is an engaging, reachable, and culturally meaningful method for teaching vocabulary in early childhood education.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of counselors in addressing student anxiety through individual counseling services at MAN 2 Pamekasan. The study employs a qualitative, descriptive approach. The informants consisted of 1 Guidance and Counseling (BK) teacher who handled individual counseling services and 5 students who had participated in individual counseling services related to anxiety issues. Data were collected through non-participatory observation, in-depth interviews with counselors and students, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the forms of anxiety experienced by students include academic anxiety (regarding exams, assignments, and grades), social anxiety, and career anxiety. Individual counseling was conducted through the stages of assessment, contract planning, periodic sessions, and monitoring and evaluation. Factors influencing student anxiety included family factors (parental expectations), madrasah factors (workload, competition), and individual factors (perfectionism, low self-esteem). The counselor’s role is manifested in the functions of prevention, intervention, cross-party coordination, and professional capacity development. This study concludes that individual counseling using a cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) approach contributes to helping students manage academic anxiety. The implications for the development of guidance and counseling services in madrasahs are the need to strengthen counselors’ competencies and foster collaboration with teachers and parents.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of the Peduli Puan Safe House managed by the United North Sumatra Alliance in the recovery process for victims of sexual violence in North Sumatra. This study uses a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach. Data collection techniques were carried out through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation of the safe house managers and victim advocates. This study uses Kimberlé Crenshaw's intersectional feminist theory to understand victims' experiences influenced by relations of power, gender, social class, and patriarchal cultural structures. The results show that the Peduli Puan Safe House not only functions as a temporary shelter, but also becomes a solidarity-based recovery space that provides a sense of physical, psychological, and social security for victims of sexual violence. The forms of recovery provided include psychological assistance, legal assistance, and social recovery through education for the families and surrounding communities of victims. The solidarity built by the United North Sumatra Alliance is seen through empathetic relationships between advocates and victims, emotional support, and efforts to create a more supportive social environment that does not blame the victim. This approach helps victims to reduce trauma, rebuild self-confidence, and dare to fight for their rights in the legal process. This research shows that recovery for victims of sexual violence requires not only professional services but also social support based on solidarity and victim-centeredness.

Abstract

This study aims to delineate the regeneration process of Malay culture, identify the mechanisms of marginalization within community social life, and analyze the challenges and opportunities in preserving Malay culture. This research employs an ethnographic method as its primary approach, which includes participant observation and in-depth interviews with community leaders, as well as the younger generation in the village. Through this approach, it is expected to provide a comprehensive understanding of the socio-cultural shifts in Malay culture from marginalization to regeneration. This study utilizes Antonio Gramsci's Theory of Cultural Hegemony as its foundational framework for analysis. The findings indicate that the regeneration process of Malay culture in Tanjung Pasir Village is progressing negatively and experiencing a complete disruption in the cultural transmission chain; furthermore, the mechanisms of Malay culture operate simultaneously through genetic transmission (family) and communal ritual expressions (customary feasts). However, regarding the challenges and opportunities of cultural preservation, the local community and artisans can filter the adverse effects of globalization while leveraging technology as a tool (opportunity) to repackage Malay culture, making it appealing once again to the younger generation. This research is expected to serve as a reference for relevant stakeholders in developing programs that support cultural regeneration, as well as enhancing public awareness of the importance of maintaining cultural identity amidst the waves of change.
