Abstract

An industrial internship is a practical activity for students with the aim of gaining experience from this activity, which can later be used for professional development and human resource development. One of the industrial internships was carried out at a bus body company from Ungaran, namely CV. Like Bodywork. During the industrial internship the author focused on research regarding the planning and implementation of Preventive Maintenance of ABS vacuum pumps on CNC Milling machines FZ 2000. Problems that occurred during the production process using CNC Milling machines with ABS Vacuum pumps were the problem of broken blades, the radiator not running properly. Well, there's an electrical short circuit, the air hoses are leaking, the vacuum pump is leaking or overheating. Planning a maintenance system needs to be done to reduce the number of machine downtime. CV. Laksana Karoseri uses two types of maintenance systems, General Maintenance and Emergency Maintenance. Meanwhile, preventive maintenance activities carried out on the CNC MILLING FZ 2000 machine include daily maintenance, maintenance every 2 months, maintenance every 6 months and annual maintenance. Meanwhile, preventive maintenance on ABS vacuum engine pumps on CNC Milling Machines is known to be carried out every 6 months including checking and replacing the vacuum engine oil using 2 liters of Corena S4 P shell oil for every use reaching 5000 km/hour, cleaning the air filter, maintaining and cleaning the water filter and checking the spindle lubricating fluid.

Abstract

One of the efforts made in the education sector to increase the need for human resources is to implement a system that can create a workforce that is ready to apply their knowledge in the field of work. To apply the knowledge they have gained while attending lectures, students are given the opportunity to go directly to a company which is usually called an industrial internship. While carrying out industrial internships at Solo Technopark, students are placed in the CNC design and machining section. The stand gripper production process goes through several stages, namely designing product images, creating a numerical control program with Autodesk powermill software, and computer numerical control milling (CNC milling) machining processes. The problem that occurs during the stand gripper production process is that there is very little material gripping due to the size of the initial material which has very little difference with the size of the finished workpiece. The solution to this problem is to ensure strong clamping and the help of parallel blocks so that the material does not move during the execution of the workpiece.

Abstract

Bending is a process of mixing materials which results in convexity while other parts become concave due to the influence of force or bending moment. During the bending process, it results in different pipe strains, which cause permanent strains. The annealing process (heat treatment) is a process for changing the metal structure by heating the specimen. The aim of this research is to analyze the material hardness of the ASTM 304 L stainless steel long elbow pipe after the annealing process is carried out, the test is carried out at various angles, namely (0°, 90°, 180°, and 270°) using the Hardness Tester. The method used in this research is an experimental method, a research procedure carried out to determine the effects of the annealing treatment given to the material. The research results from the 0° angle have a material hardness of 156 HB, from the 90° angle the material hardness is 140 HB, from the 1800 angle the material hardness is 164 HB, from the 2700 angle the material hardness is 159 HB, the conclusion is that the annealing process and the inner angle of the long elbow pipe has a significant influence on the hardness of stainless steel materials. Abstract

The technique of spreading fertilizer on rice plants is an important part of equalizing land fertility. In general, farmers use their hands to spread granular fertilizer. The spreading process results in an irregular distribution of fertilizer and also takes a relatively long time. The aim of this research is to design a granular fertilizer spreader based on a technical evaluation of the concept. The Pahl and Beitz design method became a theoretical reference in finalizing the design of the granular fertilizer spreader form. Working drawings are prepared based on ISO standards using Solidwork 2018 software. Based on the results of the technical evaluation of the concept, the design of the granular fertilizer spreader is composed of thirty-three constituent components.

Abstract

Research on the competencies needed by fishermen in an era of increasingly rapid technological progress aims to explain the basic competencies that electric propulsion boat users need to have. Analysis based on implementation needs to be carried out with the aim of adapting the use of water transportation technology, namely ships with electric power, according to the required competencies. This research was carried out using a descriptive qualitative approach method with a literature study type of research. The research was carried out by collecting data from secondary sources such as books and journal articles related to the variables and subjects of this research. From the research results, a comparison was obtained between the abilities currently possessed by fishermen, and the abilities that fishermen must have in the future in facing developments in water transportation. It is known that, in terms of use, users need to understand the use of electric propulsion ships and K3 in their application, in terms of understanding more about the main components of the technology used, in terms of maintenance being able to repair and maintain the components, and understanding the social impacts that occur as well as the advantages and disadvantages of using them. Therefore, efforts are needed to educate the public so that they can easily receive clear information about electric propulsion ship technology, so that the results of the development of this technology can be accepted by the general public.

Abstract

Lathe operator competence is needed in every manufacturing industry, especially in the field of turning. Currently, employment in Indonesia, especially in the manufacturing industry, has increased from year to year, so it is necessary to identify the work and tasks of a lathe operator. This study aims to (1) identify the work and (2) tasks of lathe operators in the medium scale manufacturing industry. The method used in this research is the descriptive qualitative method. The object of this research is a lathe operator from a medium sized manufacturing industry in Serang city, Indonesia. For data collection, this study used observational studies. The data analisys technique used was descriptive analysis and Dacum Research Chart which was validated by Expert Judgement. This study successfully identified (1) Five types of work and (2) Twenty-two tasks performed by a lathe operator in a medium-scale manufacturing industry with sixteen knowledge and skills as well as eight attitudes that must be possessed by a lathe operator and as many as forty-one machines and supporting tools whose operation must be controlled by a lathe operator in a medium-scale manufacturing industry.

Abstract

A plastic waste shredder is a tool used to shred or crush plastic into small pieces using a cutting knife mounted on a shaft connected via a pulley and belt transmission to a motor. This study is an experimental study to design a waste shredder with a more minimalist design that uses a 1000 RPM washing machine dryer dynamo drive motor, but aims to be able to participate in overcoming the current plastic waste problem. The results of the study showed that this machine with a 1000 RPM washing machine dynamo drive motor can only crush PET plastic beverage bottle waste that must be cut into pieces first to avoid stopping the machine and slipping material. Based on these results, it can be concluded that this machine is only intended for shredding thin PET plastic bottles.

Abstract

The floor scrapping method for cowshed cleaning systems has been widely applied on several modern farms today with the aim of making it easier for farmers to clean the cowshed. The mechanical design of the motor-driven scraper aims to facilitate the cowshed and save human energy. The design method uses James H. Earle method and is continued by carrying out the production process for the cowshed cleaning systems. This system works using a chain to pull the scraper so that it moves to scrape dirt on the floor by pushing it, so that work that was previously done manually can be done more easily with the help of this tool. The designed tool has dimensions of 1000 mm x 500 mm x 300 mm, while the mechanical beam design has dimensions of 700 mm x 200 mm x 3 mm. Based on the calculation results, bending stress data was obtained of 20.534 N/mm2 for the frame and 41.476 N/mm2 for the scraper. Calculation of the transmission system for the cowshed cleaning tool obtained specifications for an electric motor with a power of 0.02 HP, a pulley measuring 72.6 mm, a belt measuring 26 inches, a shaft measuring 12 mm and rolling bearings with a life of 24 years. Then, from the result of testing the frame and scraper using Solidwork software, it was found that the stress was 29.95 MPa for the frame and 67.49 MPa for the scraper. This stress value is declared safe because it is still below the permitted stress. Meanwhile, based on function testing, the most effective nozzle to use is a nozzle with an angle of 15o because it has a higher spray intensity than the others and thus has the highest cleanliness value. Based on test results, the cowshed cleaning tool obtained an average cleanliness score of 75.6 with a time of 60 seconds.

Abstract

Zig-zag wire or what is usually caleed harmonica wire can be used to make fences. Making harmonica wire is doen by bending the wire into a zig-zag shape. The process of making harmonica wire fences can be used as a home industry production. Therefore, the aim of this research is to design the transmission components of the harmonica wire fence making machine by calculating the machine elements in the transmission. The research method uses the VDI 2222 method approach. The design results are in the form of a harmonica wire fence making machine. The results of calculating the machine elements on the harmonica wire fence making machine have results including the transmission pulley used, namely type A with sizes 4 inches and 14 inches, the v-belt used is type A belt with a belt circumference length of 76 inches. Meanwhile, the diameter of the shaft used in the harmonica wire fence making machine is 25 mm with S45C material and the estimated force required in bending the the wire is 7.27 N.

Abstract

The trend of using electric motorbikes to drive two-wheeled vehicles in Indonesia has started to increase. This is because the increasing public awareness of the benefits of electric vehicles is linked to the decreasing fossil energy reserves. Apart from that, electric vehicles are an environmentally friendly means of transportation because they do not cause air pollution. Based on previously research SEMOLI Generation 1, it is known that the use of a sprocket and chain transmission model on electric motorbikes produces less than optimal performance when used on flat roads, because on flat roads there is no need for large torque. The aim of this SEMOLI Generation 2 research is to conduct experiments using a CVT transmission which is predicted to be able to provide large torque when the road conditions are uphill, and able to provide higher speeds when the road conditions are flat. The research stages carried out successively are: conducting studies, selecting transmissions, assembling, fabricating, designing frames and swing arms, testing, and preparing documents. Based on the test results, it was found that using a CVT was able to increase maximum speed on both horizontal and uphill road conditions. This increase is because CVT has a wide transmission comparison range, so it is able to overcome uphill and horizontal road conditions.
