Abstract

Problem-solving skills should be possessed by every learner. In order for problem-solving to provide meaningful and profound knowledge and experiences to learners, determining problem-solving strategies can be grouped according to the nature of the problem to be solved. There are several factors influencing problem-solving skills, one of which is motivation influenced by personality. One personality type is the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). This research aims to determine the problem-solving abilities of students in Pythagorean theorem story problems based on the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) personality types in the eighth-grade class E of State Junior High School 23 Pontianak. The research method used is descriptive with a qualitative research design. The data sources for this research are eighth-grade students in class E, and the data include problem-solving ability test sheets, MBTI personality type questionnaires, and interview results with students. The research results show that there are 12 MBTI personality types in class E of State Junior High School 23 Pontianak, including INFP, ISFJ, ESTP, ESTJ, ISFP, INTJ, ENFP, ESFP, ISTJ, INFJ, ENTJ, ISTP. These 12 personality types can execute the problem-solving steps according to Polya's theory.Keywords: Problem Solving, Pythagorean Theorem, Polya, MBTI

Abstract

This study aims to understand the obstacles of seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Jawai Selatan in understanding numerical ideas on set material in class VII SMP Negeri 1 Jawai Selatan. The subjects in this study were students of class VII A SMP Negeri 1 Jawai Selatan which amounted to 31 students. Taking class VII as the subject depends on the approval of the school and the replacement students have gotten the material set at the junior high school level. The object of consideration is the test scores. Negeri 1 Jawa Selatan. In general, students' ability to understand numerical ideas in set material is at a moderate level, and this implies that students currently have a fairly good understanding of set material. The highest capacity is at the pointer of repeating set ideas with a level of 74% which is in the high classification, and it indicates that understudies can repeat the idea, while the lowest capacity is at the pointer of creating basic or adequate conditions with a level of 18% which is in the low classification, and it indicates that not many understudies can create basic or adequate conditions. In general, the ability of understudies to understand numerical ideas in set material is in the medium classification with a level of 47.5%.

Abstract

Mathematics holds a significant role in the world of education and can foster critical thinking, logical reasoning, and problem-solving abilities. However, many students harbor negative perceptions about mathematics, hindering their learning motivation. To minimize these negative attitudes, there is a need for innovative approaches to mathematics instruction that involve active student engagement. The Teams Games Tournament cooperative learning model is one such approach that can be implemented. This research aims to review the literature on the application of the Teams Games Tournament model in enhancing students' learning motivation in mathematics. This research uses a Systematic Literature Review methodology, which entailed searching for relevant research articles through google scholar. The search criteria considered publication year, educational level, learning model, research methods, and the variables investigated. From this process, 16 articles were chosen according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The findings of this research indicate that the Teams Games Tournament learning model positively influences students’ motivation to learn mathematics. In conclusion, the Teams Games Tournament learning model can effectively boost students' learning motivation in mathematics, and this model has the potential to be an innovative learning model that can be implemented in educational settings

Abstract

The poor performance of SMP Negeri 1 Binjai Hulu served as the inspiration for this study. students in solving math problems with an average score of 50.6 and still below the KKM which indicates that when solving math problems it is not optimal. The purpose of this study is to describe the form of mathematical representation of students at SMP Negeri 1 Binjai Hulu class IXA in solving problems of congruence and perpendicularity material in terms of Self-efficacy. The method used in this study is a qualitative method. The subjects in this study were 28 students of class IXA SMP Negeri 1 Binjai Hulu and 6 students to be interviewed. Data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions are data analysis techniques that are used. The analysis of the data revealed that each student's responses to problems involving mathematical representation took different forms and included clues about issues with visual, verbal, and symbolic representation. Students with high self-efficacy are more optimal in answering questions, students with moderate self-efficacy have not maximized in using representation indicators so that there are some mistakes in solving problems, students with low self-efficacy as a whole have not achieved representation indicators well.

Abstract

Student achievement in learning mathematics in class X MIPA SMA Negeri 1 Tempunak is still low. This is due to the lack of use of learning media in mathematics lessons. So that the understanding of concepts, activeness, motivation and student response to the lessons delivered is less acceptable to students. So that students obtain low learning outcomes and are passive in learning. The purpose of the study was to determine the effectiveness of using e-books on inverse function material in grade X students of SMA Negeri 1 Tempunak. The subjects in this study were 22 students of grade X MIPA SMA Negeri 1 Tempunak. This study used descriptive qualitative research. The research instruments are observation sheets for learning implementation, observation sheets for student activities, response questionnaires, and learning outcome test questions. The results showed that: (1) 81.25% of learning implementation went according to what was planned in the RPP; (2) student activity obtained an overall grade point average of 85.4% and during learning students were actively involved; (3) student response questionnaires to the use of e-books in learning received positive responses with a classically average score of 77%; (4) Student learning outcomes when using e-books are categorized as good by obtaining a classical average score of 81.81% of students getting scores that exceed standard KKM scores. So that mathematics learning using e-book material on the inverse function for grade X students of SMA Negeri 1 Tempunak is effective.Keywords: Effectivenes, E-Book, Inverse Function

Abstract

This research aims to determine mathematical communication skills of students in terms of mathematical logical intelligence. The research method used is descriptive quantitative. The subjects of this study were 29 students of class VIII SMP Negeri 3 Pontianak. Data collection techniques used are direct measurement techniques and communication. Data collection tools used are test questions and interview guidelines. The results of the research generally show that mathematical logical intelligence is obtained by 74% in the high category, while the mathematical communication ability is obtained by 54% in the low category. Students who have high mathematical logical intelligence tend to have high mathematical communication skills, while students with low mathematical logical intelligence tend to have low mathematical communication skills

Abstract

Students' lack of mathematical ability can affect their low mathematics learning outcomes. By using Systematic Literature Review, a comprehensive and methodical analysis, it can be determined whether the Problem Posing learning model is an effective tool to optimize students' mathematical ability. 38 articles from 2020 to 2024 were collected and analyzed, consisting of 10 articles in elementary school, 16 articles in junior high school and 12 articles in high school. From the research results, it was found that the use of Problem Posing in mathematics learning is beneficial to mathematical abilities ranging from elementary to high school. The mathematical abilities that have been studied consist of creative thinking, mathematical reasoning, mathematical communication, critical thinking, mathematical understanding, problem solving, and logical thinking. Hopefully, this research can help educators and future researchers in choosing learning models in the classroom.Keywords: mathematical ability, Problem Posing model, Systematic Literature Review

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether the implementation of the inquiry method in the learning process can improve math learning outcomes for class IV C students at SD Negeri 002 Bintan Timur. The inquiry method makes math subjects more engaging and allows students to directly identify scientific concepts and principles clearly. This approach helps students grasp important concepts in math learning. This classroom action research was conducted at SD Negeri 002 Bintan Timur during the 2022/2023 academic year, with a sample of 22 students from class IV C. Data collection techniques used were tests and observations. The tests were used to gather data on students' mastery and understanding (cognitive aspect through objective tests consisting of multiple-choice and essay questions. Observations were conducted to assess the students' learning outcomes in the affective and psychomotor aspects. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the implementation of the inquiry method in learning, following the steps outlined in the lesson plan, can improve students' learning outcomes in cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. A recommendation for math teachers based on this research is to combine inquiry with other innovative teaching models or methods to prevent students from becoming bored.
