Abstract

This study aims to test the reliability and construct validity of the Holland RIASEC instrument, which is a psychometric approach to examining human personality based on six domains, namely Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional. This instrument is used to measure and recommend the type of work that suits students’ personalities in the vocational field.  This study uses a non-experimental method with a quantitative research approach and involved 178 vocational students at Universitas Negeri Padang. The data analysis techniques used are Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). The results showed that the reliability of the six Indonesian version of Holland’s personality was quite high, with Cronbach’s alpha values between 0.601 and 0.699. In addition, there was a positive correlation between Holland’s personality. Construct validity showed a fit model with a p-value of 0.26972 and RMSEA = 0.02. This indicates that the empirical data is in line with the RIASEC typology model, which is the theoretical concept.

Abstract

This research aims to uncover the causes of errors in solving numeracy problems related to trigonometry among students with a strongly field-independent cognitive style. The research method employs a case study with a qualitative approach. The subjects of this study are students of class XI MA Ibadurrochman Malang. The instrument in this study consists of the main instrument, namely the researcher himself and supporting instruments consisting of GEFT (Group Embedded Figure Test) sheets and Numeration Problem Solving Test Sheets (TPMN) and interview guidelines. This data analysis technique used interactive model analysis. The research findings indicate that the causes of student errors in solving numeracy problems are primarily rooted in their previous knowledge, which results in these errors. In other words, their previous knowledge is unable to serve as a foundational material for generating ideas in solving new problems encountered. These new problems related to trigonometry are used not only to apply previously acquired knowledge to the issues at hand but also to learn new mathematical concepts. Consequently, numeracy problems become a solution for students to study mathematics coherently.

Abstract

This research aims to reveal the principal leadership styles of Christian religious secondary schools in Indonesia. This study used a qualitative descriptive approach. The informants in the study were teachers, vice principal, and school principal in a Christian religious secondary school. The data was collected through semi-structured interviews. Subsequently, the data was analyzed using deductive thematic analysis, and its validity was checked using triangulation. The study results showed that the principal implemented five leadership styles in a Christian religious secondary school: paternalistic, charismatic, servant, transformational, and autocratic. This study indicates that leadership styles are urgently needed to improve Christian religious education quality; however, they are still limited in the literature. Therefore, the Ministry of Religion Affairs, particularly the Directorate General for Christian Community Guidance, should create a concise policy on leadership competency for Christian religious school principals. Furthermore, each principal in Christian religious schools should carry out various leadership styles properly to enhance management and leadership practices in their educational organizations.
