Abstract

High Order Thinking Skil (HOTS) type questions have been applied to National Exams so the efforts to improve  students’ thinking skills at a higher level are continued. This research is a qualitative research which aims to describe the ability of students to solve HOTS type problems in term of the stages of Polya solving. Thus research was conducted in SMK Telkom Malang in the odd semester of 2019/2020 school year. The reasearch subjects in this article were 12th grade students on statistical material. The results of this study indicate that high ability students are able to complete all stages of problem solving polya, capable students are able to understand problems, but are less able to make plans, do the plans and look at the results. The low ability students are less able to do all of the stages in problem solving polya well.

Abstract

The research aims at exploring the characteristics of ‘don’t need’ boundaries of students in solving arithmagon problems using qualitative descriptive approach. The participants win this research are 23 eight-grader junior high school students. The research used the instruments including test questions and unstructured interviews. The data collection procedure began with giving test questions to 23 participants. All of them could make mathematical diagrams/drawings/model precisely according to the information presented from the problem. The student who used effective and clear sentences in solving problems though could not solve the problem in a structured manner is called as Subject 1 (S1).  The student who did not use effective and clear structured sentences is called as Subject 2 (S2). The student who used effective and clear sentences as well as structured in solving problems is called Subject 3 (S3).  This research used triangulation method by exploring data obtained from the test and interview results. According to the research result, it is concluded that S1 crossed the first ‘don’t need’ boundaries when solving the addition and multiplication arithmagon problems. S2 crossed the first and second “don’t need” boundaries when solving addition arithmagon problem and only crossed the first ‘don’t need’ boundaries in solving multiplication arithmagon problems. However, S3 crossed the second ‘don’t need’ boundaries in solving arithmagon problem of addition and multiplication. Through this research, it is hoped that further research will be able to find and explore the third ‘don’t need’ boundaries in solving mathematical problems.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to describe the students' commognitive in solving linear problems of one variable. This study uses a qualitative approach to the type of descriptive research. The stages in this study consisted of preparation, data collection, and data analysis. The results of this study are that there are two strategies students use in solving problems when analyzed using commognitive components. Two strategies used by students are the strategy of finding patterns and trial and error strategies. Students with strategies finding patterns in using commognitive components in solving problems look systematic compared to students with trial and error strategies.Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan commognitive siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah persamaan linier satu variabel. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif. Tahapan dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari persiapan, pengumpulan data, dan analisis data. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah terdapat dua strategi yang digunakan siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah apabila dianalisis menggunakan komponen commognitive. Dua strategi yang digunakan siswa yaitu strategi menemukan pola dan stretegi coba-coba. Siswa dengan strategi menemukan pola dalam menggunakan komponen commognitive dalam menyelesaikan masalah terlihat sistematis dibandingkan siswa dengan strategi coba-coba.

Abstract

Abstract: This research is research that have purpose to describe students’ cognitive loads in mathematic learning oriented to Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). Research method that is used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The results showed that the intrinsic cognitive loads were caused by students’  difficulties in finding concept of integral, students’ difficulties in doing operation of  algebraic form, students’ difficulties in solving HOTS problems at level of analyzing, evaluating and creating. Extraneous cognitive loads were caused by using local language that is used by teacher for giving information, time alocation for doing discussion was too short, noise during the discussion and teacher give explanation fastly. Germane cognitive loads were caused by the use of technology in learning such as PowerPoint slides, Google for Education and the internet for accessing to online learning resources, and the existence of asking questions that stimulate students’ HOTS and group discussion.Abstrak: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian yang bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan beban kognitif siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika yang berorientasi pada Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa beban kognitif intrinsik disebabkan oleh kesulitan siswa dalam menemukan konsep integral, kesulitan siswa dalam melakukan operasi bentuk aljabar, kesulitan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal HOTS pada level menganalisis, mengevaluasi, dan mengkreasi. Beban kognitif extraneous disebabkan oleh penggunaan bahasa daerah yang digunakan guru dalam menyampaikan informasi, alokasi waktu untuk berdiskusi yang cukup singkat, kegaduhan saat diskusi berlangsung, dan guru memberikan penjelasan dengan cepat. Beban kognitif germane disebabkan penggunaan teknologi dalam pembelajaran, misalnya slide powerpoint, Google for Education dan internet untuk akses sumber belajar online, serta adanya pengajuan pertanyaan yang menstimulasi HOTS siswa dan diskusi kelompok.

Abstract

Abstract: The Classroom Action Research aims is to describe implementation of student center learning instruction that can increase written mathematical communication of senior high school students. This research is conducted in two cycles. The result of this reserach indicates that students written mathematical communications skills increase from cycle I to cycle II. Student center learning instruction consists of organise information, organise questions, solve the problem, present the discussion results, reflect, and mastery test material.Abstrak: Penelitian tindakan kelas ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan penerapan pendekatan student center learning untuk meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis tulis siswa SMA. Penelitian dilakukan dalam dua siklus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan komunikasi matematis tulis siswa meningkat dari siklus I ke siklus II. Pendekatan student center learning dilakukan secara diskusi kelompok terdiri atas mengumpulkan informasi, mengorganisir pertanyaan, menyelesaikan masalah, menyajikan hasil diskusi, refleksi, dan tes penguasaan materi.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to describe the defragmentation process of impulsive student’s thinking structures in solving geometry problems. This research was conducted on two students of 9th grade of SMPN 1 Puncu. The research data were obtained throught the providing of MFFT and problem solving tests. The result of this research showed that the defragmentation of students mistakes in providing initial ideas for problem solving was done throught cognitive conflict, scaffolding, and disequilibration. Defragmentation to form knowledge schemes and bring up schemes that already owned to solve the problems were done throught disequilibration and level 2 of scaffolding (explaining, reviewing, restructuring). Defragmentation to practice students to do reflection was done throught level 1 of scaffolding (environmental provisions).Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan proses defragmentasi struktur berpikir siswa impulsif dalam memecahkan masalah geometri. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada dua siswa kelas IX SMPN 1 Puncu. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui pemberian MFFT dan tes pemecahan masalah. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa defragmentasi kesalahan siswa dalam memberikan gagasan awal untuk pemecahan masalah dilakukan melalui konflik kognitif, scaffolding, dan disekuilibrasi. Defragmentasi untuk membentuk skema pengetahuan dan memunculkan skema yang sudah dimiliki untuk memecahkan masalah dilakukan melalui disekuilibrasi dan scaffolding level 2 (explaining, reviewing, restructuring). Defragmentasi untuk melatih siswa melakukan refleksi dilakukan melalui scaffolding level 1 (environmental provisions).

Abstract

Abstract: The main focus of this research is describing potential for presenting book procedures New Syllabus Mathematics volume II in graph of quadratic function in improving critical thinking skills. Critical thinking skills consists of interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and inference. This research used content analysis. The researcher have determined to analyze inverstigation and worked example. This research showed that the presentation of book procedures volume II have  the potential to improve interpretation ability and analysis with 100%.Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan potensi penyajian prosedur buku New Syllabus Mathematics jilid II materi grafik fungsi kuadrat dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis. Kemampuan berpikir kritis terdiri dari interpretasi, analisis, evaluasi, dan inferensi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan analisis isi. Peneliti memutuskan jenis penyajian prosedur yang dianalisis yaitu investigation dan worked example. Penelitian ini memberikan hasil bahwa penyajian prosedur buku NSM jilid II berpotensi dalam meningkatkan kemampuan interpretasi dan analisis dengan persentasi 100%.

Abstract

Tujuan dari kegiatan pendampingan penggunaan asesmen portofolio bagi guru pembimbing PPL ini adalah membantu guru untuk memiliki pengetahuan tertang asesmen portofolio dan dapat menerapkan asesmen portofolio untuk memonitor kemajuan mahasiswa yang sedang PPL di sekolah tempat guru mengajar. Kegiatan pendampingan ini melibatkan satu guru matematika dari MAN Gondanglegi Kabupaten Malang yang membimbing tiga mahasiswa jurusan Matematika yang sedang melaksanakan PPL. Kegiatan pendampingan dilakukan dengan cara membantu  guru merancang tugas portofolio, menyusun rubric penilaian portofolio, mengases hasil tugas mahasiswa dan memberikan umpan balik terhadap tugas yang dikerjakan mahasiswa.  Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah guru memperoleh tambahan pengetahuan terkait dengan teori asesmen portofolio dan memperoleh tambahan kemampuan dalam pelaksanaan asesmen portofolio. Guru pembimbing PPL sudah mampu merancang tugas-tugas asesmen portofolio, mampu merancang rubrik penilaian asesmen portofolio dan memberikan asesmen berdasarkan hasil pekerjaan mahasiswa.

Abstract

The purpose of this descriptive qualitative study is to look at the representation of students in solving problems about stories. Subjects were selected based on the results of the pretest questions and short interviews conducted on 28 students in 1 class. Of the 28 students who were the subjects of the study, 2 students were chosen representing 2 categories of answers that appeared in 1 class. Each category, namely the category of students who answered correctly and students who answered incorrectly, were randomly assigned to one student for further analysis. The research location was Malang Saladin Middle School. Subjects will be given test questions and will be interviewed to gather information regarding the results of their work. The results of this study indicate that there are still students who have difficulty in solving mathematical problems in the form of story problems. This research also shows that repressance plays an important role in the success of students in solving story problems.

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa MTs. Negeri 6 Banyuwangi dalam menyelesaikan masalah open-ended pada materi bangun datar. Jenis penelitian yang dilakukan adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Subjek dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari empat siswa sesuai dengan Tingkat Kemampuan Berpikir Kreatif (TKBK) yang diperoleh dari hasil pengerjaan 28 siswa kelas VIIA melalui masalah open-ended materi bangun datar. Indikator TKBK yang digunakan adalah fluency, flexibility, dan novelty. Data dalam penelitian ini dikumpulkan dengan teknik tes masalah open-ended materi bangun datar dan wawancara. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dari 28 siswa, diperoleh tiga tingkatan berpikir kreatif yaitu TKBK 0 (tidak kreatif), TKBK 1 (kurang kreatif), dan TKBK 3 (kreatif). Kata Kunci: kreatif; open-ended; bangun datar
